Christopher Osuna
Funeral services will take place Thursday, May 5 for Christopher Patrick Osuna who died April 29, 2005 at the age of 19. The native of Sacramento had lived here all his life.
Mr. Osuna was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Margaret Buckman, and uncle Rob Buckman.
He is survived by his parents Patrick Osuna and Judy Buckman Osuna; and grandparents Guadalupe and Madeleine Osuna.
Mr. Osuna was the nephew of Lane and Kenn Mayberry, Judy and Lou Manzo, and Mark and David Osuna.
Visitation is today from 4 to 8 p.m. in Elk Grove Funeral Chapel, 9101 Elk Grove Blvd. Thursday’s services begin at 11 a.m. in Capital Christian Center, 9470 Micron Ave. in Sacramento. Interment will follow.
Joe Raposo
A Mass of Christian burial begins at 11 a.m. today for Joe J. Raposo Sr. of Elk Grove who died April 30, 2005.
Mr. Raposo was a native of the Azores and had lived in Elk Grove for 49 years. He was 77.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Teresa Raposo; children Lucy Silvers and husband Daniel, Joe J. Raposo Jr. and Gil Raposo and wife Joanne all of Elk Grove; and grandchildren Lacey and Robert Raposo.
He was the brother of Maria Teresa Raposo of the Azores.
Today’s Mass is at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 9961 Elk Grove-Florin Road. Interment will follow in Galt District Cemetery.
Mary Harmon
Funeral services for Mary Belle Harmon will take place Saturday, Nov. 4 who died Oct. 28, 2006.
Mrs. Harmon was born March 14, 1926 in Hugo, Okla., and was a resident of Elk Grove and Sacramento County for 56 years. Her family said she was a gifted artist, very creative who loved art and painting. She was active in her church and a devoted mother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman Harmon in August 2005, and her son, Johnny Harmon.
Mrs. Harmon is survived by her children Jerry Harmon and wife Lisa, David Harmon and wife Pauline, Edward Harmon and wife Piret, Patricia Maciel and husband John and Pamela Navarro and husband John; 18 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Visitation is today (Friday) from noon to 5 p.m. at South East Lawn Mortuary, 9189 East Stockton Blvd., Elk Grove. Saturday’s services begin at noon in the chapel of East Lawn Cemetery, 43rd and Folsom Boulevard in Sacramento.
Patricia Artau
Memorial services will be Sunday, Nov. 5 for Patricia Artau, a 16-year resident of Elk Grove who died Oct. 25, 2006. Mrs. Artau was a native of Oklahoma and was 76 at the time of her death.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years Rudy Artau Sr.; children Gregory Artau and wife Peggy, Cindy Holmes and husband Lou, Rudy Artau Jr. and wife Frances, and Patty Martin and husband George; brother Skip Tidmore and wife Judy; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Sunday’s services will begin at 2 p.m. in Elk Grove Funeral Chapel, 9101 Elk Grove Blvd. Private interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Colma.
Ronin Cox
Ronin Alexander Cox, 18-month-old son of Nikki Salinas and the late Rick Cox, died Oct. 25, 2006 after suffering many illnesses during his short life.
He was born April 6, 2005 in Kansas, and his family said that his name, Ronin Alexander, meant Warrior who shows great strength.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ronald W. Cox.
He was the brother of Rayne Cox and Evan Riojas; the grandson of Carol Salinas, John Coleman and Diana Cox-Pratt; and the great-grandson of Jimmie and Jerry Nunn.
Aunts and uncles include Aaron Salinas, Cherine France, Kimberly and Rob Peterson, Coral and Tony DiMento, Darlene Brown and Robin Schecker; also many cousins.
Services are private. Remembrances may be made in care of Robin Schecker, 9444 Harbour Point Drive, No. 135, Elk Grove, CA 95758.
Joao Lino
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, March 3 for Joao A. Lino of Elk Grove who died Feb. 26, 2007 at the age of 92.
Mr. Lino was born in Rebeirinha, Pico, Azores. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Maria Lino; son-in-law Manuel Lino, two sisters and four brothers.
Mr. Lino is survived by his children, Maria Leontina Lino and Rosemary Correia and husband Manuel; grandchildren Jose A. Lino, Lisa M. Mello and husband Kevin, and Meilssa M. Correia and fiancé Phillip Lima; and great-grandchildren Samuel Lino, Dylan and Lucas Mello.
He was the brother of Frank Lino and wife Mary, and godfather of Jose F. Azevedo. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Visitation is today (Friday) after 10 a.m. with the recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. in the chapel of South East Lawn Mortuary, 9189 East Stockton Blvd., Elk Grove.
Saturday’s services begin at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 9961 Elk Grove-Florin Road, followed by interment in South East Lawn Cemetery.
Susanna Pinto
Funeral services will take place today for Susanna B. Pinto, who died Feb. 1, 2003, at the age of 32.
Ms. Pinto was born March 12, 1970, in Woodland. She was a sign language interpreter and teacher for the Elk Grove Unified School District.
She is survived by her daughters, Vanessa Ann Pires, Samantha Nichole Pires and Abbey Belle Banzhof; her mother, Betty Sue Whipple; her father, Tony Pinto; her brothers, David Feltman and Anthony Pinto; and her special friend, Luis Miranda.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. at Point Pleasant United Methodist Church, 3329 Point Pleasant Road off Franklin Boulevard.
A trust fund has been established for her daughters and donations may be made at any Golden 1 Credit Union to the Susan Pinto Memorial Fund.
Arrangements are by Elk Grove Funeral Chapel.
Sabrina Dahnke
Kevin Dahnke
Funeral services took place March 14 for Sabrina and Kevin Dahnke, who both died suddenly March 9, 2003 in Lodi.
Sabrina Dahnke was born March 2, 1979 in Stockton, and had lived in Elk Grove for seven years before moving to Lodi. She was employed by Farmers and Merchants Bank at both the Galt and Lodi branches. Hobbies included camping, swimming and shopping.
She is survived by her parents, Mary Ellen and Mauricio Escobar; her brothers, Mauricio and Daniel; her sisters, Brenda, Rebecca, Ana, Gabby and Michelle all of Elk Grove; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Kevin Dahnke, a native and lifelong resident of Lodi, was born Aug. 30, 1979. He was a forklift operator for Galt Glass Co. and enjoyed wrestling, kick boxing and camping.
He is survived by his parents, Sam Dahnke and Kim Rogers; his grandparents, Kay and Paul Rogers and Buster and Alice Dahnke; his uncles, Marty Galindo and Ron Dahnke; and his aunts, Sheri Galindo, Cindy Dahnke and Wanda Dahnke, all of this area.
Services were held in St. Christopher's Parish, Galt, followed by interment in the Galt Cemetery. Arrangements were by Ben Salas Funeral Home, Galt.
Willie Johnson
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 20 for Willie Edward (Sonny) Johnson Jr., who died March 12, 2003 at the age of 74.
Mr. Johnson was born March 25, 1928 in Atlanta, Ga. to Linnie White Johnson and Willie E. Johnson Sr. He entered the U.S. Army at age 14 and was honorably discharged when his age was discovered. At 17, he joined the Navy and participated in Operation Crossroads, the testing of the atomic bomb at Bikini Island.
In 1949 he married the girl next door, Ruby Lee Williams, and the couple moved to the Bay Area in California. Upon his discharge from the Navy, he joined the Coast Guard for a brief term, then went to work for the Union Pacific railroad.
Mr. Johnson's career covered a variety of positions, including a six-year stint with the U.S. Postal Service, deputy sheriff for Alameda County, patrolman and inspector with the San Francisco Police Department and owner and operator of a furniture store in San Francisco and Berkeley and a security company in Oakland. He was also a member of the Air Force Reserves.
