James Johnston
Memorial services will take place today (Wednesday) for James Borden Johnston who died May 22, 2004 at the age of 60.
Mr. Johnston was born on July 21, 1943 to Borden and Truey Johnston in Rochester, N.Y. He graduated from Spencerport High School in 1961 and joined the Air Force where he served during the Vietnam War. He retired after 23 years with the rank of Master Sergeant.
Mr. Johnston then went to work with the city of Sacramento Public Works Department where he rose to the position of general supervisor. For 15 years he refereed basketball, softball, baseball and flag football games throughout the area.
He was preceded in death by his father, brother John, sister Gertrude, and his first wife, Mary.
Mr. Johnston is survived by his wife, Cheri; his children, Tim, Karen and husband Carlos, Don and wife Linda, Tammy and husband Keith, Tim and wife Lisa and Cory and wife Richelle; grandchildren, Steve, Andy, Rebecca, Ryan, Megan, Gabrielle, Rachel, Jenny, Daniel, Nicole and Sierra; and great-grandchild Giselle.
He was the brother of David and wife Suzanne, Nora, Anne and husband Paul and Debbie and husband Harold.
Today's services begin at 2 p.m. in Elk Grove Funeral Chapel, 9101 Elk Grove Blvd., Elk Grove. Interment is private.

Reka Meyer
Reka Meyer, a longtime resident of Elk Grove, died July 15, 2004 following a brief illness. She was 95.
Mrs. Meyer was born in North Dakota and came to Elk Grove in 1948. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Elk Grove, serving the church in many ways. Hobbies included traveling to many countries, reading and her flower gardens.
She was preceded in death by her husband Emil Meyer and son Delton Meyer.
Mrs. Meyer is survived by her daughters, Norma Lane and husband Bob and Diana Maynard and husband Larry; her daughter-in-law Darlyn Meyer; her grandchildren, Rick Wolff, Randy Wolff and wife Diana, Shanda Frank and husband Matt; Aaron Maynard and wife Carol, Todd Meyer and wife Lauren, Scott Maynard and Kelly Trenalone and husband Jamie; and great-grandchildren, Taran Meyer, Adam and Blair Maynard and Rachel and Sarah Wolff, all of Elk Grove.
She was the sister of Rev. Gust Rauser and aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services took place July 19 at the First Baptist Church. Remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1765 Challenge Way, Suite 115, Sacramento, CA 95815 or Mercy Hospice, 7919 Folsom Blvd., Suite 200, Sacramento, CA 95826.

Michael Ramirez
A Mass of Christian burial was held Tuesday for Michael David Ramirez of Elk Grove who died July 24, 2004. He was 47.
Mr. Ramirez was a native of Riverside and a resident of Elk Grove for the past 24 years.
He is survived by his children, Joseph and Kristine Ramirez of Elk Grove; his parents, Macario and Elizabeth Ramirez and his brother Mark Ramirez all of Hayward; and his former wife Joevanie Ramirez of Elk Grove.
Arrangements were by Elk Grove Funeral Chapel.

Albert Dunn
Albert Daniel Dunn, who published several papers in the foothills, died Nov. 27, 2004 in Sacramento.
Mr. Dunn started The Scrounger and The Gold Panner in El Dorado County. He also owned the Sierra Trading Post in Placerville for 12 years and the Azela Store in Oregon for four years.
Mr. Dunn was born May 3, 1948 in Brawley.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years Pam Dunn; daughter Danielle Clauson and husband Jason; granddaughter Destanie Rose Clauson; and siblings Mike, Wendy and Maureen.
Mr. Dunn is also survived by 19 nieces and nephews and 13 great-nieces and nephews.
Services took place at The Rock Church on Dec. 11.

Dennis Daly
A celebration of the life of James Dennis Daly, a longtime resident of Elk Grove, will take place Tuesday, Dec. 21. Mr. Daly, 77, died Nov. 30, 2004.
Tuesday's event is from 12:30 to 4 p.m. at the S.E.S. Hall, 10427 East Stockton Blvd. It will include lunch and a slide show and comments on highlights of Mr. Daly's life. The family extends an invitation to the many friends and business associates he has made through the years.

Doris Savage
Funeral services will take place Friday, May 20 for Doris A. Savage, longtime resident of Elk Grove who died May 11, 2005.
Mrs. Savage was born Sept. 18, 1928 in Bismarck, N.D. to Cyrus and Ruth Hanson and grew up there, coming to California in her early teens.
She moved to Elk Grove in 1967 and spent many years working for the Bank of America in both Elk Grove and Sacramento.
Mrs. Savage is survived by her husband of 49 years, Fred Savage of Elk Grove; children Christine Morse, Karen Coulson and husband Brent, Pam Dias and husband Manny, Kirk Savage and Nancy Pasqual and husband Mike; and two sisters, Marlene Tomatis and Mary Jo Smith.
She was the grandmother of Stephanie Smith and husband Travis, Jared Morse, Austin Coulson, Hayley Coulson, Andie Canez, Jenna Canez, Kirk Savage Jr., Ashley Flowers, Nicolas Pasqual, Rebecca Pasqual and Joseph Pasqual; and great-grandmother of Cameron Coulson and Kailee Smith.
Friday’s services begin at 2 p.m. at Elk Grove United Methodist Church, 8986 Elk Grove Blvd. Remembrances may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2641 Cottage Way, Suite 4, Sacramento, CA 95825; or the American Cancer Society, 1765 Challenge Way, Suite 115, Sacramento, CA 95815.

Sharon Allen
Sharon Lee Ann Allen of Spreckels died Feb. 21, 2006 in Los Gatos at the age of 58.
Mrs. Allen was born May 6, 1947 in Mountain View to Lloyd and Florence Seiler and grew up in Elk Grove, graduating from Elk Grove High School. In 1965 she was named Miss Elk Grove and ruled over the Western Festival that year.
She was active in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Spreckels, outreach ministry at Soledad Prison, Boy Scouts of America, and founding member of Woman Alive, a women’s shelter.
Mrs. Allen was an accountant for Higashi Farms. She also wrote and composed spiritual songs.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother David Seiler.
Mrs. Allen is survived by her husband of 39 years Ken Allen of Spreckels; daughters Jennifer Lagomarsino and husband Dr. Frank of Stockton, and Karen Turner and husband Steve of Phoenix; and grandson Allen Turner also of Phoenix.
She was the sister of Jim Seiler of Northern California and Tom Seiler of Provo, Utah.
Services were held at St. Joseph’s Church with interment in South East Lawn Memorial Park, Elk Grove. Remembrances may be made to Woman Alive or the Hand of Hope International.
Arrangements were by Struve and Laporte Chapel.

Jon Patterson
A celebration of the life of Jon Andrew Patterson, who died Feb. 8, 2006, will be held Sunday, March 5 at the Best Western Expo Inn, 1413 Howe Ave., Sacramento.
Mr. Patterson was born Nov. 10, 1952 in Rushville, Ill. He grew up in Keokuk, Iowa and came to California, to Riverside, with his family at age 16. For the last eight years he has resided in Elk Grove.
He worked at SBC/Pacific Telephone as a frame technician for 27 years.
Mr. Patterson was a member of the Professional Bull Riding organization, enjoying the sport as a spectator. Other interests included gardening, camping and traveling.
He was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy Griffith.
Mr. Patterson is survived by his life partner of 25 years Michael Muddell of Elk Grove; father Willard Patterson of Forrest City, Ark; sister Carol Walte and husband Bill of Elk Grove; nephew Bill Walte of Orange; and niece Lori Laughlin and husband Charles and great-nephew Will Laughlin all of Oroville.
Sunday’s services are from 1 to 4 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the Resistol Relief Fund at Resistol Relief Resources Inc., 6 S. Tejon, Suite 700, Colorado Springs, CO 80903.
Arrangements are by Elk Grove Funeral Chapel.
