Ramona Miller
Memorial services were held Monday for Ramona J. Miller, who died Aug. 21, 2002, at the age of 73.
Mrs. Miller was born Nov. 15, 1928, in Iowa and had resided in Livermore for the past 48 years.
She was a member of the United Ancient Order of Druids, Pleasanton Circle 43, and past Grand Arch Druidess of the state of California from 1982-83. She was a Scout leader and served as president of the Band Parent Club and the P.T.A. at Pleasanton Elementary School.
Hobbies included collecting bells, turtles, spoons, tea cups and saucers, and post cards.
Mrs. Miller is survived by her husband of 57 years, Hollis C. Miller of Livermore; her children, Hollis C. "Skip" Miller II of Elk Grove, Margaret Miller of Livermore and Charlene  Schmidt of Manteca; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was the sister of Leonard Willeford and Marie Wood, both of Elk Grove, Clare Ross of Oregon and Loretta Parvin of  Washington.
Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her parents, J.C. and Daisy Willeford.
Remembrances may be made to Druids Scholarship, c/o Cora Martinell, 830 Main St., #117, Redwood City, CA 94063-1992. Arrangements were by Wilson Family Funeral Chapel.

Edward Moe
Edward Earl Moe, a 24-year resident of Elk Grove, died Aug. 13, 2002, following a long struggle with chronic progressive multiple sclerosis. He was 55.
Mr. Moe was born Sept. 30, 1946, in Rochester, Minn. to Dr. Allan and Elaine (Eide) Moe. His family relocated to California and he grew up in the Sacramento area, graduating from El Camino High School in 1964.
In 1968 he graduated from California Lutheran University with a bachelor’s degree in political science. He then attended law school while substitute teaching at the high school level in the San Juan Unified School District.
Mr. Moe graduated from Humphries Law School in Stockton and was licensed by the California state bar in June 1974. He began private practice, dealing primarily with civil and criminal litigation.
On Aug. 23, 1969, he married Janet Mangan. The couple became parents of Erik John, born Aug. 5, 1974, and Erin Jean, born April 7, 1977.
Mr. Moe was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1983 and was forced to retire from law practice that same year.
When deteriorating health forced him to go into Walnut Whitney Convalescent Hospital in 1992, he attended Bible studies with the volunteers there. "He was cheerful in facing the challenges of this terrible disease," said his family.
Mr. Moe is survived by his wife, Janet; his children, Erik Moe and Erin Mitchell and husband Mark all of Elk Grove; his mother, Elaine Moe Durham of Indiana; and his mother-in-law, Virginia Mangan of Sacramento.
He was the brother of Barbara Wangberg and James Moe, both of Sacramento, and Margery Honegger of Pacific Grove. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Kristen (Honegger) Moore, Holly Mangan, Brian Honegger and Steven Mangan.
Services took place Aug. 17 at Church of the Valley, Mt. Vernon Mortuary, Citrus Heights.
Remembrances may be made to American Lutheran Church of the Cross, 46th and H St., Sacramento, CA.

Dylan Hogan
Memorial services will take place Saturday for Dylan Riley Hogan, infant son of Michele Lown of Wilton and Michael Hogan of Roseville. Dylan died Aug. 3, 2002, in Sacramento.
He is also survived by his grandparents, Carol Lown of Wilton, Robert and Janice Lown of Fairfield and Michael and Judy Hogan of Citrus Heights. He was the nephew of Kristi Rice of Florida and Russell Lown of Petaluma.
Services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday in Elk Grove Funeral Chapel, 9101 Elk Grove Blvd. Interment will be private.

Francisca Lopez
A Mass of Christian burial will take place today (Friday, July 27) for Francisca Lopez, a resident of the Sacramento area for 18 years, who died July 23, 2007 at the age of 82.
Mrs. Lopez was born in the Philippines and has lived in this area since 1989.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Modesto A. Lopez, and siblings Felomina, Victorina, Nicolas, Antonio and Teodora.
Mrs. Lopez is survived by her children Generoso Lopez and wife Wilma, and Teresa Lopez-Reselosa of the Philippines, and Carmen Rivera and husband Renato, and Fermin U. Lopez of Sacramento; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was aunt to members of the Azurin and Galinato families.
Today’s Mass begins at 11 a.m. in St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Florin Road and Gardner Avenue. She will be taken to the Philippines for burial.
Arrangements are by East Lawn Elk Grove Mortuary.

Shirley Soares
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, July 31 for Shirley Marie Soares, a longtime resident of Elk Grove who died July 21, 2007 at the age of 77.
Mrs. Soares was born in Oakland and had resided in Elk Grove for the past 29 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Lee Soares.
Mrs. Soares is survived by her children Rick Soares and wife Carolyn, Dave Soares and wife Noreen, Sally Luxford and husband Fred, Jeff and Steve Soares; grandchildren Jennifer, Melissa, Chris, McKinley, Jaclyn, Matt, Daniel and Amanda; and great-grandchildren Austin, Cody, Wyatt and Billy.
She was the sister of Dolores Sullivan.
Visitation is Monday, July 30 from 4 to 8 p.m. in Elk Grove Funeral Chapel, 9101 Elk Grove Blvd. Tuesday’s services are at 10 a.m. in Pleasant Grove Cemetery on Pleasant Grove School Road in Elk Grove.
Remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 8th Ave., 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001.

Carolyn Pomeroy
Memorial services will take place Monday, July 30 for Carolyn Christian Pomeroy who died July 17, 2007 in Elk Grove after a long illness. She was 81.
Mrs. Pomeroy was born March 30, 1926 in North Carolina and lived in Sacramento for 70 years. She graduated from McClatchy High School, then graduated Phi Beta Kappa from University of California, Berkeley in 1947. She taught high school and worked in state government for several years until leaving to raise a family in 1955. She returned to state government in the 1970s.
Mrs. Pomeroy’s interests included folk and Scottish dancing, camping, AAUW book groups and serving as a Camp Fire Girls leader. She studied Japanese and hosted exchange students from Japan and Italy, and tutored a family of Vietnam refugees in English. She participated in Sacramento sister city exchange visits to Japan and China, and also visited the United Kingdom.
Mrs. Pomeroy is survived by her husband of 54 years Eltweed (Pom) Pomeroy of Sacramento; daughter Kathy of Carmel; son Doug and grandson Kevin of El Granada; and brothers Robert and Jon Christian.
Monday’s services begin at 1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 2100 J St., Sacramento. Cremation is private.
Remembrances may be made to breast cancer research, children’s literacy or the charity of the donor’s choice.
Arrangements are by Elk Grove Funeral Chapel.

David Lawlor
Services are scheduled for Monday, July 30 for David William (Bill) Lawlor, a former longtime resident of Elk Grove who died July 13, 2007 at the age of 66 following a long illness.
Mr. Lawlor was born Jan. 15, 1941 in San Francisco and lived in Elk Grove from 1966 to 1980. He was a veteran of the Coast Guard and worked 18 years as a correctional peace officer. He was chairman and fundraiser for the fallen officers memorial, CCPOA Retired Chapter.
Mr. Lawlor is survived by his wife of 23 years, Sherri Lawlor of Roseville; and children Charisse Denman of Columbus, Ind., Bret Ellsworth of Nevada City, Shawna Martinez of Loomis, David Lawlor of Elk Grove, Rob Gardiner of Citrus Heights and Chris Gardiner of Reno.
He is also survived by his mother Alberta Pierce of Roseville, two brothers, two sisters, 12 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Monday’s services begin at 2 p.m. at the Carmichael Park Clubhouse, 5750 Grant Ave., Carmichael. Remembrances may be made to the Correctional Peace Officers Foundation, 1346 N. Market Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95834.
