Lycurgus Koulouris
Funeral services were held Tuesday for Lycurgus (Leo) Koulouris who died May 1, 2006 at the age of 89.
Mr. Koulouris was born March 15, 1917 in Stockton to Peter and Stella Coolures, thought to be the first Greek immigrant couple to settle in the Stockton area. Mr. Koulouris grew up there, graduating from Stockton High School.
He served during World War II and was stationed in the Pacific where his battalion was lost for several months. Following the war he worked for the Stockton Box Factory for more than 35 years.
He was a member of St. Basil’s Greek Orthodox Church and the Karl Ross Post of the American Legion.
Mr. Koulouris lived in Stockton for 78 years, moving to Elk Grove with his wife, Mary until her death. The couple had been married for 54 years. In August 2004 he moved to Wilton to be with his daughter and family.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by sisters Mary Debono and Annie Antis; and brothers Mitchell and George Coolures.
Mr. Koulouris is survived by his children Peter Koulouris and wife Lori of Stockton, Stella Eliopulos and husband John of Wilton and Mitchell Koulouris and wife Nancy of Elk Grove; and grandchildren Elene, Demetre, Marilena, Claire, Stefanos, Sara, Katherine, Gracie and Thomas.
He was the brother of Kyriako (Kitty) Coolures of Stockton.
Funeral arrangements were by Chapel of the Palms Funeral Home, Stockton.

Tandy Cook
Graveside services took place Monday for Tandy Denise Cook who died May 1, 2006 in Wilton at the age of 45. She was a lifelong resident of the Elk Grove/Wilton area.
Ms. Cook was preceded in death by her mother, Delores Cook.
She is survived by her children Niki Howell and Zachary Howell and wife Erica; grandchild Malachi Howell; father Larry Cook and wife Joye; sister Julie Swiston and husband Bill, and longtime companion Steve Hord.
Funeral arrangements were by Elk Grove Funeral Chapel. Interment was in South East Lawn Memorial Park.

Troy Reich
A celebration of the life of Troy Reich will take place Sunday, Sept. 7, in Elk Grove Regional Park. Mr. Reich, 38, died Aug. 20, 2003, in Santa Cruz.
He was born March 25, 1965, in Sacramento and grew up in this area, attending James McKee Elementary and Joseph Kerr Middle schools before graduating from Elk Grove High School in 1983. He then attended Cosumnes River College before joining the U.S. Army.
Following basic training at Fort Benning, Ga., Mr. Reich served at bases throughout the country and the world, including Fort Drum, N.Y.; Schofield Barracks, Honolulu, Hawaii; JFK Special Forces School; two tours in Panama; and Desert Storm.
He was chosen to be on the Multinational Force of Peace keepers and Observers, and earned many medals including the Silver Star, Air Assault, Expert Infantry badge, Presidential Citation, Combat Lifesaver, Combat Scuba Diver, Jump Wings, Halo Caster, Combat Jumper and three Army commendation awards.
Mr. Reich enjoyed playing the guitar, riding motorcycles, camping and water sports.
He is survived by his wife of 16 years Micheale, and daughter Cassaundra of Felton where the family had lived for the past six years; his parents, Ronald Reich Sr. and Patricia Snedeker Reich; his brothers, Brian Reich and Ronald Reich Jr.; and his niece, Dezeray Reich, all of Elk Grove.
Mr. Reich was the son-in-law of Dale and Elaine Phillips; the brother-in-law of Jeff Phillips; and the nephew of Gus Reich Jr. and Judy McCartney.
Sunday's celebration in the park is from noon to 4 p.m. in Area 3-C.

Richard Gould
Richard Gould, bartender at Vince's Ristorante in Elk Grove, died Aug. 31, 2003, in Sacramento.
Mr. Gould was born April 25, 1934, and was a past president of the Bristol, New Hampshire Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife, Dora Lee; his children, Joseph Richard, Terry, Mary and Kathy; his stepchildren, Steven, Rene, Nicholas, Jeffrey and Lisa; and his grandchildren, Melissa, Jennifer, Jessica, Bethany, Derek, Kira, Michael, Solomon, Taylor, Julian and Jillian.
Mr. Gould was the brother of Eric, Ramona and Robie; and great-grandfather of Jonathan.
Services took place Sept. 4 at South East Lawn Mortuary, Elk Grove.
Remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1765 Challenge Way, Suite 115, Sacramento, CA 95815.

Roger Ward
Roger Leonard Ward, a longtime resident of the Elk Grove and South Sacramento areas, died suddenly Nov. 11, 2005.
Mr. Ward, 53, was born Nov. 24, 1951 in Sheldon and grew up there, attending the local schools and graduating from Elk Grove Senior High School.
He worked for many years at his father’s gas station on Grant Line and Wilton roads, and then worked as an auto mechanic for Campbell’s Auto Parts and Valley Motor Parts, both in Elk Grove.
Mr. Ward is survived by his wife Cindy Ward and daughter Lynae Ward both of South Sacramento; parents Virginia and Paul Ward, and niece Jenny Webb all of Medford Ore.
He was the brother of Paul Ward Jr. of Citrus Heights and Ed Ward of Elk Grove.
Private services took place Nov. 25 at South East Lawn Mortuary, Elk Grove. Condolences may be sent to Cindy Ward at cindyloosac@juno.com.

Sy Ho
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 26 for Sy Ho, a resident of the Sacramento area for 17 years, who died Nov. 11, 2005.
Mrs. Ho, 85, was a native of Vietnam.
She is survived by her children Tang, A. Sang, Sang, Nancy and Jennifer Chang; 26 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Saturday’s services will begin at 8:30 a.m. in Elk Grove Funeral Chapel, 9101 Elk Grove Blvd. Interment will follow in Sierra Hills Memorial Park.

Rick Coover
A celebration of the life of Rick Coover will take place Monday, June 26 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Flowers at Cherokee Memorial Park, Highway 99 and Harney Lane in Lodi. Mr. Coover, 49, died June 17, 2006.
He was a resident of Galt for the past 13 years and a Realtor with ReMax Gold. He was also involved with Galt Youth Baseball for several years while coaching his son, and recently coached his daughter’s softball team through Galt Parks and Recreation.
Mr. Coover is survived by his wife Gayle Coover; son Richie, 16; daughter Kimmy, 14; and parents Barbara and Dick Coover.
He was the brother of Doug, Jim and Bruce Coover and Sharon Mandon; and is also survived by six nieces and nephews, Vanessa, Sarah, Katie, Bethany, Max and Sophie.
Private inurnment will be in Cherokee Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home, Lodi.

Lawrence Leeders
Graveside services will take place Thursday, Sept. 29 for Lawrence Herman ‘Larry’ Leeders, a 45-year resident of Elk Grove who died Sept. 21, 2005 at the age of 90.
Mr. Leeders was born June 16, 1915 in Sacramento. He served during World War II as U.S. Army Technical Sergeant and sharpshooter in the 748th Tank Battalion. His duty included the Battle of the Bulge in Normandy, France.
He worked in the oil fields in Pakistan, South America, Afghanistan and Iraq before marrying. He worked as a mechanic for the state of California for 20 years, retiring in 1980.
An avid rose and sunflower gardener, ‘Larry’ loved the outdoors and continued to mow his own lawn to the age of 89. Interests also included reading newspapers, history books and Louis L’Amour western novels.
Mr. Leeders was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah Bridgett Leeders.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Linda; daughter Karen Schauer and husband Dick of Galt; son Lawrence Jr. and wife Stacy of Arlington,  Texas; grandsons Joseph and Benjamin Schauer, Lawrence III and Nicholas; and great-granddaughters Lynnae, Leah and Haley.
Mr. Leeders was the brother of Shirley Masciorini and husband Joe of Petaluma.
Thursday’s service, with military honors, will begin at 10 a.m. at South East Lawn Memorial Park, 9189 East Stockton Blvd., Elk Grove. Remembrances may be made to Hospice of San Joaquin, 3888 Pacific Ave., Stockton, CA 95204.
