Violet Mary Gebauer Morgan, 71, of Chico died on July 16, 2004. She was born on Sept 27, 1932, in Orland, Calif to John and Marge Gebauer.
Violets first job was at the Senator Theater. She taught kids in 4-H how to work with horses. She enjoyed camping. Community involvement was important to her. She was instrumental in bringing a bank to Los Molinos. People will remember her as being quick to smile and outgoing. She is survived by a son Scott Browning of Chico; daughters Pamela Morse of Christmas Valley, Oregon and Debra Gabriel of Sacramento; stepmother Helen Gebauer; brothers Jack and John; sister Betty; 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Her husband Rex Morgan preceded her in death. Newton-Bracewell Chico Funeral Home is handling her arrangements.

A graveside service for Marie A. Grazer Kingston will be held at the Sutter Cemetery
on Monday, August 16, at 11:30 A.M. She died on July 18, 2004 at the age of 96.
Marie was born November 21, 1907, in Sacramento to Beatrice and Frank Ewing. She attended schools in Sacramento before finding work in the Factory Store creating hats and then in the office of an ear, nose, and throat specialist.
In 1926, Marie met and married a young x-ray technician named Martel Grazer. Together they had three beautiful children. In 1935, the family moved to Marysville where Martel started the Physicians X-Ray Lab in the Nagler Building. The couple worked together at the lab until Martel’s death in 1953. Marie joined Dr. Paul Cress’ family practice until her retirement.
She was very active in and president of the Y.S. Business and Professional Women’s Club. She participated with the V.F.W. She also enjoyed bowling and bingo.
In 1963 Marie met and married Thomas F. Kingston. Together in retirement they enjoyed traveling across the United States to visit his family. They spent summers in Ft. Bragg fishing and entertaining friends and family, as well as in Lake Havasuu and Southern California visiting family.
After Tom’s death in 1983 Marie continued to reside in her home in Yuba City until 1995 when she moved to Chico to be closer to her children.
Marie leaves behind her two daughters, Marilyn Stone and her husband Albert of Capay, Calif., and Lois Ann Muck and her husband Don of Napa, Calif. as well as 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Dr. Fred M.Grazer, MD from Newport, Calif. where he practiced plastic surgery. She was so proud of his worldly accomplishments.

Brian Lee

Brian Lee
Brian lee, age 52, passed away on July 22, 2004 after a short illness. Born March 5, 1952 to Lowell and Guadalupe Lee in Brawley, Calif. where he spent his early childhood.
As a boy he became very active in sports and also became an Eagle Scout. He excelled in baseball and wrestling. President of his senior class, he graduated from Del Norte High School, Crescent City, Calif. in 1970. With a wrestling scholarship, he moved to Corvallis, Oregon to attend Oregon State University. He was of the Theta Pi fraternity.
He played with various softball teams, was a coach and an umpire for Corvallis Parks and Recreation.
Brian was employed by Campus Towing Company where he met his longtime friend Nick Socotch. He was a truck driver for Corvallis Disposal Company (Waste Management) for 13 years.
Brian met and married his wife of 24 years while living in Corvallis. Their daughters, Casey and Courtney were both born in the city.
His love of boating and water-skiing helped in the decision to move his family to Redding, CA. in 1989. Brian was hired by Food-4-Less as a cashier and became the store’s Assistant Director in 1996. He became the Chico, Calif. Store Director in 2000, and remained the director when the store was purchased by Save-Mart Corporation. Fellow employees have called to say that Brian was much more than just their boss. He was their dear and valued friend.
Brian Lee is survived by his wife, Susan, their daughters, Courtney Lee and Casey Howard and her husband Russell Howard, and grandson Ethan and Brian’s brother Thomas Lee of Redding.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Newton-Bracewell Chico Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at 10:00am at Dalrymple Ranch, #936 Liberty Lane, Chico, CA. Private graveside will be held in Lake County, CA. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
Joy Anne King

Joy Anne King
Joy Anne King, a resident of Sierra Sunrise Village, Chico, since 1989, died July 24th 2004. She was born February 24, 1926, and was raised in Seattle, WA. She attended the College of Puget Sound before her marriage in 1944 to Arthur King, a career officer in the U.S. Navy. Upon Mr. King’s death in 1999, the Kings had been married for 55 years.
Mrs. King graduated from California State University, Hayward in 1970. Her Chico affiliations included the American Association of University Women, Prime Timers, Widowhood Group, and as an associate member of the Retired Officer’s Association. Mrs. King enjoyed playing Bridge with her three close friends.
Family was the most important thing in Mrs. King’s life. She also enjoyed taking tours and cruises.
Mrs. King is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Beth McDuffie of Hollister, CA; Lynn and Jeff Darlington of Paradise; grandchildren, Kendra, Shannon, and Ryan McDuffie, Matt, Brad, Todd and Kory Darlington, Bruce McLemore of Paradise and Julie Anne McLemore of Chico, children of daughter, Karen McLemore, whose death proceeded that of Mrs. King. There are six great grandchildren.
At the request of the deceased there will be no services, cremains to be interred in the grave of her husband at Cherokee Cemetery.

Marvin Shepherd

Marvin Gene Shepherd passed away on July 26, 2004. He was 59. Marvin was born on August 18, 1944 in Niles.
Marvin served in the army from 1962 to 1965 in Germany. He returned home and started a welding business in San Leandro. He retired and lived on the ridge for the past 18 years.
He was a member of the Exchange Club, loved the outdoors and loved to travel. Marvin was an avid golfer.
Daughters Joanna Baldridge of Lincoln and Laura Hinton of Modesto; his mother Laura and stepfather Carol Hammack of Magalia survive Marvin. 6grandchildre, sister Sheila miller of Paradise, and Patricia Farley of Magalia also survive Marvin.
Charles Salath

Charles Salath
A catholic service for Charles Salath, 83, of Chico, will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2004, 9:45 a.m. at Our Divine Savior Catholic Church. Charles passed away with loved ones at his side on Saturday, July 31, 2004 at Enloe Medical Center. He was born on September 15, 1920 in Besenyod, Hungary the fourth child of Louis Salath, Sr. and Terezia Nanassy. In 1922 the family moved to Budapest so Charles’ older siblings could enter high school. At the age of 11 Charles entered prep-school, after graduating in 1939 he worked in the British-Hungarian Bank as an Information Officer. In 1942 he entered the university to study arts and aesthetics, hoping to pursue a career in film industry as a director; however in 1943 Charles was called to military service in the Signal Corps and fought against the Soviet forces. Early in 1945 he became a P.O.W. in his own country; eventually escaping and fleeing to Germany. After two years of waiting for a visa into the United States, he gave up and went to Australia. After working for the Australian government for two years he was able to enter college, where he studied structural engineering and basic architecture, graduating with degrees in quality survey and construction management. He worked for a large U.S. company in Australia, working on many different projects. He married and moved to Toronto, Canada, where he worked as Assistant Project Manager for a large construction company until 1965. Early that year he moved to California and was offered a job as Construction Supervisor with Bank of America. He worked for Bank of America for twenty-two years before his retirement. Charles leaves behind his family, Mary Turner-Salath of Chico; son, Joseph E. Martin of Oakland, CA; daughter, Lori Martin-Bozzo of Elk Grove, CA; daughter, Connie Jansen of Chico; two granddaughters, Jessica Mary Bozzo and Amanda Seaman and a grandson, Ryan Turner. Arrangements are under the direction of Newton-Bracewell Chico Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers please have a mass recited at Our Divine Savior in Charles’ memory. Inurnment will take place at Chico Memorial Mausoleum.
