Stanley William Hinkle
March 11, 1916 - January 24, 2005
Birthplace: Spaulding, Nebraska
Resided In: Red Bluff, California
Stanley William Hinkle passed away at his home on Monday morning, January 24, 2005. He was 88 years old, born in Nebraska on March 11, 1916.
He had three loves—his family, his church, and his work—and managed to give full attention to each. He had a knack for business projects from the time he was twelve, when he started his own ice business. He was creative in both his trucking business of 45 years, and his construction projects, which he continued into his late seventies. He and his father built the large, rounded-top building on Montgomery Road, that now belongs to “I-5 Tires.”
In the 1950's he moved an empty house for several blocks, to a new location where it became a chapel and parsonage for the First Church of God, in Red Bluff. Large projects didn't daunt him. He was also involved in the various buildings as the church grew. He originally established the sound system in the present church building, designing and constructing the sound booth, and spending hours in research to equip it.
He was able to accomplish so much over the years because of his practice of finishing one job before starting another. Also, a strict, life-long rule that he followed was to never complain. He was a patient man, and made friends readily, and had the ability to make one laugh.
As his health failed, God and the Bible became more and more important to him. He died in peace.
He is survived by Evalyn, his wife of nearly 58 years, two daughters, Cathleen Eckelbarger of Red Bluff, and Valerie Strieby of New Hampshire, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and three sisters.
Services will be held 3:p.m. Saturday January 29th at First Church of God on Luther and Jackson.
