Gerald Joe "Jerry" Finch
March 06, 1935 - January 30, 2005
Birthplace: Des Moines, Iowa
Resided In: Chico, California
Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend to many, Jerry Finch passed away January 30th.
Born March 6, 1935 to Earl and Luella Finch in Des Moines, Iowa, he later moved to California where he met and married the love of his life, Carla Engle, in 1953. Carla went to be with the Lord in March of 2003. The family takes great comfort in knowing they are now together.
Jerry and Carla were blessed with three children; Dyanna Rogers, her husband Bob, granddaughters Larissa, Jessica, Rebecca and her husband Danny; Kelli Voss, her husband Jim and grandsons J.T., Trevor, Christian and Brenden; son Cody Finch and his wife Melody and grandchildren Amanda and Adam. He is also survived by his step-father Wendell Phillips and brothers Gordon Finch, Ron Phillips and Rick Phillips.
Jerry served in the Armed Forces from 1952-1956. He received a BA from CSU Hayward and worked in retail management prior to going into full time Christian ministry. He served as a founding board member of Calvary Chapel Paradise and an Associate Pastor at Magalia Community Church.
A Korean War veteran, Jerry was the Post Commander of the Chico American Legion Post # 17, an active member of the VFW, AMVETS, and the local chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution. Recently he had been involved in the design and implementation of the Veterans Memorial project that will be built in the Chico City Plaza. The Memorial will be dedicated Veterans Day, 2005.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 5th, at 11:00 A.M. at the Veterans Memorial Hall, 900 Esplanade, Chico.

Edwin Thomas Moffitt
July 29, 1927 - January 31, 2005

Resided In: Paradise, California
Edward Thomas Moffitt, life long resident of Norwalk, born July 29, 1927, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2005. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Lucille, four children, Leslie, James, Edwin Jr. and Karen. Seven grandchildren, Shellie, Renee, Natalie, Nathan, Patrick, Nicholas and Arriana, three great-grandchildren Danielle, Danny and Sarah. Sister Erlene Bosch and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Fran and Jim Mantonya. Memorial services were held in Chico in Northern California.

E. Luella Lofgren
February 02, 1916 - February 01, 2005

Resided In: Richvale, California
Born to Swedish parents, Sam and Senia Lofgren on February 2, 1916, in Richvale, California, Luella was one of four daughters. She spent her early years helping on the family ranch, one of the founding rice farms in Butte County.
Luella dedicated her life to the love of music and serving people. She taught music in elementary and secondary education, then for 17 years as the piano accompanist and voice instructor at the music department at CSUC. After retirement, she volunteered for 7 terms teaching music at Payap University in Chiang Mai Thailand and one year in Singapore.
She has been extensively involved throughout her life in the church where at the age of 11, she began her 78 year career as the church pianist. Since 1996, she returned to her hometown in Richvale to be near her family.
Luella is survived by two sisters, Betty Compton and Orpha Josiassen-Howell; nine nieces and nephews, Joan Gaut, Richard Josiassen, Curt Josiassen, Lynn Koch, Craig Compton, Lisa Siemens, Brenda McCrary, Scott Compton, Bradley Compton and 21 grand nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be 4p.m. Saturday February 5th at the Richvale Evangelical Free Church. Visitation will be 5 to 7p.m. Friday at Newton-Bracewell Chico Funeral Home. Private burial will take place at Chico Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Richvale Evangelical Free Church Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.

Victoria Meza

Le sobreviven su esposo, Julian Meza de Chico, CA; cuatro hijos, Martin y German Meza de Chico, CA, Victor Meza de Colorado Springs, CO; y su hija, Lillian Meza de Portland, OR. Asi como dos nueras, Oliva de Chico, Mariana de Colorado Springs, CO, y un yerno, Lyle de Portland, OR; siete nietos, Felix, David, Tony, Sydney, Thalia, Victor Jose y Jesus Manuel; asi como siete hermanas, dos de Chico y cinco de Jalisco, Mexico, Ofelia, Sara, Antonia, Esperanza, Elena, Luz, y Maria Antonia Valencia. Asi como sobrinos de Chico y Jalisco, Mexico.
Victoria, fue una persona muy activa durante sus anos de vida. Fue miembra del Comite Mexicano, Asociacion Guadalupana, miembra de la mesa directiva de las clinicas Del Norte de California asi como representante de padres Hispanos de Migrant Education Region II a nivel estatal. Fue lectora de San Juan Bautista de Chico por muchos anos.
Victoria trabajo en la agricultura por 30 anos desempenando el trabajo de mayordoma.
Sus pasa-tiempos favoritos eran viajar, asistir a conciertos y bailar asi como atender eventos socials.
Visitation will be on Thursday, February 3, 2005 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Mass will be held on Friday, February 4, 2005, 11:00 a.m. at St John the Baptist Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Chico Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the A.L.S. Foundation in care of the Newton-Bracewell Chico Funeral Home who are handling the arrangements.

Rick Coover
A celebration of the life of Rick Coover will take place Monday, June 26 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Flowers at Cherokee Memorial Park, Highway 99 and Harney Lane in Lodi. Mr. Coover, 49, died June 17, 2006.
He was a resident of Galt for the past 13 years and a Realtor with ReMax Gold. He was also involved with Galt Youth Baseball for several years while coaching his son, and recently coached his daughter’s softball team through Galt Parks and Recreation.
Mr. Coover is survived by his wife Gayle Coover; son Richie, 16; daughter Kimmy, 14; and parents Barbara and Dick Coover.
He was the brother of Doug, Jim and Bruce Coover and Sharon Mandon; and is also survived by six nieces and nephews, Vanessa, Sarah, Katie, Bethany, Max and Sophie.
Private inurnment will be in Cherokee Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home, Lodi.

Golda Van Meter
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 20 for Golda Marie Van Meter who died Dec. 12, 2003, at the age of 88, just 15 days shy of her 89th birthday.
She was born Dec. 27, 1914, in Hollister, Mo., one of eight children, and came to the Sacramento area in 1936 with her family. Here she met her future husband, and on July 1, 1937, she and Roy N. Van Meter were married. They were married for 32 years before his death in 1969.
Mrs. Van Meter was an active member of the Nazarene Church. She taught kindergarten for several years and later taught junior girls.
Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, crafts, reading, cooking and baking, and, said her family, the cookie jar was always full. She also enjoyed country western music, and played the guitar and piano.
She is survived by her children, Elaine Moats and husband Dave of Elk Grove, Barbara Nultemeier and husband Richard of Manteca and Barry Van Meter and wife April of Banning; her grandchildren, Lori, Debbie, Kim, Shelly, Rob, Danny, Dwayne, Dawn, Marie, Denise and Deanna; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Van Meter was the sister of Hazel Chaney of Lincoln.
Saturday's services will begin at 11 a.m. in Elk Grove Funeral Chapel, 9101 Elk Grove Blvd. Private interment is in Sacramento Memorial Lawn.

James Wilson
Funeral services will take place Saturday, Dec. 20 for James A. (Jim) Wilson, counselor and coach at Elk Grove High School, who died Dec. 16, 2003, at the age of 60.
"Integrity, respect and commitment, these three words epitomize the life of Jim Wilson," said his family. The well-liked instructor coached freshman football and girls' junior varsity basketball.
He was born April 30, 1943, and grew up in Elk Grove. He served in the U.S. Navy on a nuclear submarine before going into education. Hobbies included gourmet cooking, classic cars, chess and gardening, as well as racing dragsters.
Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Colleen Wilson of Elk Grove; his children, Jim and Jerry; and his mother, Dorothy Wilson of south Sacramento.
Mr. Wilson was the brother of Don and wife Gayle of Placerville, Bob of Redding, Claudia and husband Tony, and Milly and husband Kevin all of Sacramento.
Saturday's services begin at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 9961 Elk Grove-Florin Road. Interment is private. An academic/athletic scholarship will be established in Mr. Wilson's memory at Elk Grove High School.
Arrangements are by Elk Grove Funeral Chapel.
