Hazel Lindsay
Hazel A. (Tillotson) Lindsay, a former resident of Elk Grove, died Oct. 21, 2003, at the age of 71 in New Mexico.
Mrs. Lindsay's husband's family owned the Lindsay dairy on West Stockton Boulevard for many years, where the Elk Grove Auto Mall now is located. She and her husband, Lewis, whom she married in August 1958, lived on Poppyridge Road and then on Barth Street in Elk Grove from 1960 to 1965. He was a milk tester for several dairies in the area, and she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Lindsay was born Oct. 4, 1932, in San Francisco to Earl B. Tillotson and the former Mary T. McBroom.
In 1965 the Lindsays moved to Woodland where she took over the management of her family's business, the former Canteen Liquor, until it closed in 1976. In 2001 they moved to Chapparral, N.M.
Mrs. Lindsay was preceded in death by her son, Eric M. Lindsay, in 1982.
She is survived by her husband, Lewis of Chaparral; her daughters, Lee Walton and husband Ken of Alturas, Kim Lindsay of Woodland and Teri King and husband Charles of Chaparral; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
No public services were held at her request. Arrangements were by the Nautilus Society of Northern California.

Crystal Primasing
Crystal Jean Primasing, a 30-year resident of Wilton, died Nov. 3, 2003, at the age of 66 following a long illness.
Mrs. Primasing was born in Sacramento Aug. 25, 1937, and grew up in the Delta near Hood. She and her husband Dell lived on a ranch in Walnut Grove before moving to Elk Grove in the mid sixties. In 1973 they moved to Wilton.
She volunteered in her children's school programs while they were growing up, and "had a passion for discussing politics and issues that impacted her community," said her son, Edward. "She was known as someone who would personally pick up the phone and contact her elected officials when she felt it was an issue of importance," he said.
"She (also) had a kind heart and was always concerned about the well-being of other residents."
Hobbies included the piano and the arts.
Mrs. Primasing was preceded in death by her father Julius Peterson, and her in-laws Dr. and Mrs. R.J. Primasing.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years Dell; daughters Mary and Blyth; sons Kevin, Brian, Mark and Edward; grandchildren Jennifer, Austin, Sara, Joshua, Elizabeth, Mathew, Mark Jr., Brandon, David and Ashley; sons-in-law Nathan and Ken; and daughters-in-law Lisa, Teri and Christie.
She was the daughter of Cleon Peterson of Hood, the sister of Leola Peterson of Sacramento and sister-in-law of John and June Primasing of Woodbridge.
A private Catholic Mass was held Nov. 6. Remembrances may be made to the U.C. Regents, Cardiac Thoracic Unit, UCDMC Health Sciences Advancement, 4900 Broadway Blvd., Suite 1150, Sacramento, CA 95820.

Alyce Smith
Memorial services will take place Saturday, Nov. 15, for Alyce Swinney Smith, a 30-year resident of the Elk Grove/Wilton area, who died Nov. 10, 2003, at the age of 68.
Mrs. Smith was the first female employee of the Florin Fire Protection District, starting as dispatcher and then becoming the executive secretary to the chief.
She was born in Sacramento and grew up in Lodi where she graduated from high school in 1953. She worked for the phone company there and later worked as secretary to several attorneys in Sacramento before hiring on with the Florin Fire District in 1975. She retired in 1990.
Both Mrs. Smith and her husband Norman loved to dance, in fact they met at a college dance when they were students at Sacramento City College. She had participated in folk dances at the Turn Verein Hall in Sacramento before meeting her husband, and then the two of them enjoyed square dancing.
In retirement the couple enjoyed RV traveling with a group from the Embarcadero Lions Club, Sacramento, of which he was a member. "It was my wife who named our group 'Lions on the Prowl,' Mr. Smith said.
Besides her husband of 48 years Norman H. Smith of Elk Grove; Mrs. Smith is survived by her children Michael C. Smith and Jennifer L. Hayes and husband Bill all of Elk Grove; and her granddaughter Courtney Hayes.
She was the sister of Klaude Swinney of Sacramento and Gerald Swinney of Lodi.
Saturday's services begin at 1 p.m. in Elk Grove Funeral Chapel, 9101 Elk Grove Blvd. Interment is private.

Christopher Jacobs
Christopher John Jacobs of Elk Grove died Jan. 13, 2004 at the age of 48. He was born on Oct. 19, 1955 in Chicago to Leonard and Barbara Jacobs. His father preceded him in death.
Mr. Jacobs is survived by his wife, Debbie and sons, Blaine and Alec all of Elk Grove; and his mother, Barbara Jacobs of Illinois.
He was the brother of Andy Jacobs and wife Robbie of Wilton, Maria Jacobs and Laura Cortesi and husband James all of Illinois. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Services took place Jan. 20 at South East Lawn Mortuary, Elk Grove. Remembrances may be made to Mercy in Action or Gospel for Asia, both missionary organizations Mr. Jacobs supported, and sent to Cimarron of California, 3132 Dwight Road, No. 400, Elk Grove, CA 95658.

Bernice Caires
Funeral services will be held today (Friday) for Bernice M. Caires of Wilton who died Jan. 18, 2004 at the age of 86.
Mrs. Caires was a native of Hawaii and had lived in Wilton for 13 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Salvador Caires.
Mrs. Caires is survived by her children, Clifford Caires and wife Judy of Willits, Howard Caires and wife Marsha of Rialto and Betty Harper of Wilton; her grandchildren, Rhonda, Terri Jo, Alan, Vincent, Wiley, Derick, Lynette, Mike, Chanelle, Brandon, Kevin, Shannon and Billy; 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was the sister of Ralph Dos Santos and Dorothy Freitas of Hawaii, Herbert Dos Santos of Pittsburg, Walter Dos Santos of Galt, Minnie Baptist of Hayward and Jeanette Toronto of Sunnyvale.
Visitation is today at 10 a.m. followed by services at 3 p.m. in Elk Grove Funeral Chapel, 9101 Elk Grove Blvd. Interment will be in Hawaii.
Remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Robert Coons
Robert Lowell Coons, a native of Elk Grove, died Jan. 26, 2004 at his home in Dunsmuir. Mr. Coons, who had battled liver cancer, was 70.
He was born Dec. 27, 1933 to Lowell and Marjorie Coons and grew up in Elk Grove.
Mr. Coons was the executive vice president of the National Association of Credit Management for 30 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War, a member of American Legion Post 92 and a volunteer firefighter.
For the past 16 years he owned Rustic Park in Dunsmuir. Hobbies included fishing, camping, woodworking and planning and cooking for large crowds.
Mr. Coons is survived by his wife, Agnes L. Coons of Dunsmuir; his children, Russ Coons and wife Cheryl of Virginia, Rob Coons of Dunsmuir, Brad Coons and wife Shelly of Petaluma and Cathy Middendorf and husband Erik; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was buried in Anderson Veterans Cemetery, Anderson. Remembrances may be made to Mercy Hospice of Mt. Shasta, 914 Pine St., Mt. Shasta, CA 96067.
Arrangements were by Mt. Shasta Memorial Chapel.

Thomas Watkins
Funeral services will be today, Wednesday, Feb. 4 for Thomas S. Watkins who died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004 at the age of 67.
Mr. Watkins was born Jan. 21, 1937 in Mesa, Ariz. to Galen and Doris Watkins. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ann McAllister.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sue Watkins of Elk Grove; his children, Laura Ball and husband Jacky, Thomas Watkins and wife Susan, Sheri Rodriguez and husband Heraldo, Pamela Bye and husband Robin and Kelli Watkins; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Watkins was the brother of Sylvia Roberts and Frank Watkins.
Services will begin this morning at 11 a.m. in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 8697 Elk Grove Blvd. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
Remembrances may be made to Kaiser Permanente Hospice Program, 2025 Morse Ave., Sacramento, CA 95825.
Arrangements are by Elk Grove Funeral Chapel.
