Peter Samuelson
Memorial services are being planned for Peter Fenn Samuelson who died Dec. 16, 2005 in Sacramento following a long illness. He was 70.
Mr. Samuelson was born Sept. 14, 1935 in San Francisco. He was an artist, and lived in both Sacramento and Galt.
Local survivors include his daughter Mary Nisson, grandson David Nisson and cousin Glennes Scheer all of Elk Grove. He is also survived by several relatives in both the Bay Area and Tahoe.
The memorial for Mr. Samuelson is planned for the first weekend in June in Sonoma. For details, call Mary Nisson at 685-3853.

Annie Peterson
Annie Louise Peterson, known for her bingo playing at Elk Grove Care & Rehab, died Feb. 7, 2004 at the age of 98 3/4.
Mrs. Peterson was born in San Francisco in 1905 and lived most of her life in the Bay Area, coming to Elk Grove about 12 years ago to be near her daughter. She was employed by Koret of California for 70 years.
In Elk Grove she was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church where she was well known. "She lived, laughed and loved," said her daughter, Lorraine Picchi.
Mrs. Peterson was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Peterson, and her grandson, Roy Picchi.
She is survived by her daughters, Grace Luzzi and husband Mitchell of San Francisco and Lorraine Picchi and husband Tulio of Elk Grove; grandchildren, Mike, Albert and Phillip Luzzi, Cathy Ropalidis, Chris Costa and Victoria Doiron; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, Kayla Costa.
Services were held Feb. 11 followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma. Remembrances may be made to St. Anthony's Foundation, Dept. 05719, 121 Golden Gate Ave., P.O. Box 3900, San Francisco, CA 94139-5719.

Alvin Sullivan
Alvin Floyd Sullivan of Elk Grove died Jan. 22, 2005 at the age of 92.
Mr. Sullivan was born April 19, 1912 in Purdy, Mo. and enjoyed telling stories of his early life; his experiences of living off the land, hunting, fishing and surviving the Depression years.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and retired as a welder in 1974 from the San Francisco Naval Shipyard.
Mr. Sullivan is survived by his wife of 71 years Esther Marie Sullivan of Elk Grove; his children, Allen Ray Sullivan and wife Janet of Hayward and Gloria Fay Lewis and husband Harold of Elk Grove; and his adopted grandchildren, Amber Plackett and Eric and Jennifer.
He was the brother of twins Wanda Lee Brown of Georgia and Wanna Lou Carter of Oregon.
Memorial services will take place at a later date.

Andrea Sams
Andrea Sams of Elk Grove died May 16, 2005 following a three-year battle with breast cancer.
Mrs. Sams was born in Willows April 13, 1968 and graduated from Elk Grove High School in 1987. She then worked for Pacific Bell for nearly 10 years and most recently was a secretarial assistant at Longyear, Odae & Lavra. She and Mark Sams were married in 1995.
Mrs. Sams enjoyed volunteering in her children’s classrooms at Foulks Ranch Elementary School, and watching them participate in various sports. She enjoyed both snow and water skiing, jet boat races, football games, scrapbooking and horseback riding. Both she and her husband were certified scuba divers and made about 30 dives together. She also loved to visit Fort Bragg.
Mrs. Sams is survived by her husband Mark; children Alexandrea and Robert; parents Arlis and Bob Osuna; grandparents Ann Carrier of Willows, Violet Ingraham of Chico and Eileen Osuna of Elk Grove; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services took place Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church followed by interment in Hilltop Cemetery, Elk Grove. Remembrances may be made to Sutter Cancer Center, 2800 L St., Sacramento, CA 95816.
Arrangements were by Elk Grove Funeral Chapel.

Tyler Dutton
Tyler Bruce Dutton of Elk Grove died May 15, 2005 in a scuba diving accident at Monterey Bay. He was 48.
Mr. Dutton was born May 4, 1957 in Oakland to Thomas and Eina Dutton. The family moved to Davis where he grew up and graduated from Davis Senior High School in 1975. He then attended the University of California, Davis for three years and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity before transferring to UC Santa Barbara, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in economics in 1980.
At the time of his death he was a Senior Retirement counselor with Fidelity Investments where he served UC Davis, UCD Medical Center, Los Alamos and UC Merced. During his professional career he worked for the Marriott Corporation, Grubb and Ellis Real Estate and World Savings.
Mr. Dutton enjoyed many sports including skiing, biking, scuba diving, mountain climbing, Cal football games and participating in triathlons.
Besides his parents, Mr. Dutton is survived by children Hayley and Casey Dutton of Elk Grove and his brother Ward Dutton and wife Lori of Rancho Santa Margarita.
Services were held Friday at the Davis Community Church followed by interment in the Davis Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Divers’ Alert Network, 8 West Colony Place, Durham, NC 27705.
Arrangements were by Davis Funeral Chapel.

Alexander Pinard
Alexander Pinard, who lived for almost 50 years in the cities of Elk Grove and Galt, died May 19, 2006 following a battle with throat cancer.
Known as “Uncle Lando” to his family and friends, Mr. Pinard was born Feb. 16, 1932 in Denver where he grew up.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, and in 1957 moved to Elk Grove where he was a dairyman. He then worked for Kingsford Briquet plant until taking disability retirement.
Mr. Pinard moved to Galt in 1976 and was an active member of the Galt chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous, never missing a meeting in 20 years until his illness required him to be hospitalized. His family said one of his favorite sayings from AA was “First things first,” a philosophy he encouraged others to live by.
Mr. Pinard is survived by his brother Loy Pinard and niece Penny Pinard of Elk Grove; nephews Rick Pinard and wife Mary and Robert Pinard all of Sacramento; and numerous great-nephews and nieces.
Graveside services took place Thursday at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Sacramento.

O.B. Perkins
O.B. Perkins, a familiar figure at his children's sporting events around town, died Dec. 4, 2003, at his home.
Mr. Perkins was a supporter of his children's participation in sports at Harriet Eddy Middle School and Laguna Creek High School, and also helped his daughters' swim team, the Laguna Creek Racquet Club Gators.
He was born in 1954 in  Texas, and came to California as a teenager, graduating from Sacramento High School where he played football, then attending Cosumnes River College and going to San Francisco State University on a football scholarship. There he received his degree in theater arts.
Mr. Perkins worked for Downtown Ford in Sacramento and the Watkins Co. in Elk Grove.
He is survived by his children, Jillian, Jessica and Zachary, all of Elk Grove.
Memorial services took place Monday at North Sacramento United Methodist Church.

Florine Jones
Florine Frances Jones, a longtime resident of Elk Grove, died Dec. 9, 2003, at the age of 90.
Mrs.  Jones was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 1267. All six of her sons served in the military.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Arthur C. Jones, her son Michael K. Jones, her son-in-law George Dozet and half brothers Clarence and Marvin Vose.
Mrs.  Jones is survived by her children, Ralph  Jones and wife Susan, Gayle McKeegan, Dennis  Jones and wife Sharyn and Larry  Jones and wife Tuy all of Sacramento, Gary  Jones and wife Susie of Wilton, Arlene Abbott and husband Orville of Carmichael, Timothy  Jones and wife Boneta, Kara  Jones and daughter-in-law Dorothy  Jones all of Elk Grove; 28 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was the half sister of Rosemary Moseley, Dorothy Fossum and Clifford Vose, and sister-in-law of Barbara Goecker.
Memorial services were held Friday at Sacramento Memorial Lawn.
