James Scott
James R. Scott, a 37-year resident of south Sacramento County, died April 6, 2004 at the age of 65.
Mr. Scott was born July 4, 1938 in Casey County, Ky. to Joel R. and Addie Lee (Campbell) Scott. He served with the U.S. Army and was a former resident of Morgan County, Ind.
Mr. Scott was a member of the PACE Union and worked for Keyes Fibre Corporation, retiring after 29 years there.
He is survived by his sisters, L. Faye Hammer of Martinsville, Ind., Lena Mae Burns of Franklin, Ind. and Eva R. Schrum of Millersville, Md.; his brothers, Gervis (Bob) of Lebanon, Ind., Herman L. of Lake City, Fla., Charles M. of Chapmanville, W. Va. and Ray E. of Pittsboro, Ind.; and an uncle, Norvil Scott of Sacramento.
Interment was in San Joaquin National Cemetery, Gustine, May 5. Arrangements were by South East Lawn Mortuary, Elk Grove.

Victor Davis
Memorial services will take place today (Friday) for Victor D. (Vic) Davis of Wilton who died April 25, 2004 at the age of 71.
Mr. Davis was born June 15, 1932 in Hot Springs, N.D. He spent 11 years in the U.S. Navy and retired after 24 years at Mare Island Naval Base, Vallejo. He was employed by the city of Galt Department of Parks and Recreation until the time of his illness.
Mr. Davis is survived by his wife of 42 years Mae Davis of Wilton; two daughters, Shelley Cochran of Martinsburg, W.Va. and Michele Saenz of Wilton; and four grandchildren, Melissa Hunt of Fairfield, Jennifer Adams and Joshua Saenz of Wilton and Sarah Davis of Fredericksburg, Va.
He was the brother of Herald Davis of Spokane, Wash.
Today's services begin at 10 a.m. at South East Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary, 9189 East Stockton Blvd., Elk Grove. Remembrances may be made to U.C. Davis Hospice, 3630 Business Drive, Sacramento, CA 95820.

Gliceria Tonel
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, May 4 for Gliceria Molo (Glicy) Tonel of Elk Grove who died April 25, 2004. Mrs. Tonel was born May 13, 1928 in Tugas, Makato, Aklan, Philippines to Salvador and Basilisa Molo. She had lived in Sacramento County for 27 years.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years Dr. Dionisio T. Tonel of Elk Grove; her children, Sarah Enloe and husband Carleton, Sheila Crisologo and husband Jerrico, Sandra Iwatsuru and husband Gary, Sharone Paclibar and husband Leo, and Thomas Dennis Tonel; and her grandsons, Andre and Anthony Yagen, Dennis and David Tonel, Jerrico, Jerren, Justice and Jadd Crisologo.
Mrs. Tonel is also survived by her aunt Victoria (Betty) Castillo and children of Makato, Aklan, Philippines, Salvador T. Tabuena of Union City and children, cousin Lourdes Silverio of Glendale and children, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, Lulu and James Sobredo and son Adrian and Mare Lucy Silverio.
Visitation is Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 9 p.m. with recitation of the rosary at 6 p.m. Monday in Elk Grove Funeral Chapel, 9101 Elk Grove Blvd.
Tuesday's Mass begins at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 9961 Elk Grove-Florin Road. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Blanche Hansen
Blanche Laird Hansen, a volunteer in the Florin area, died April 22, 2004 following a long illness.
Mrs. Hansen was born May 14, 1936 in Tribune, Kan., to Mattie and Ralph Laird and grew up in Talmage.
She was a member of the Florin United Methodist Church for 38 years where she sang in the choir and worked in the office. She also worked as secretary for the Fruitridge Christian Church.
Mrs. Hansen's other volunteer activities included Kennedy Elementary School, Bethel No. 159 International Order of Job's Daughters, Kit Carson DeMolay, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and the Ben Ali Shrine Mounted Patrol.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Joe Laird.
Mrs. Hansen is survived by her husband Carl; her children, Kelly Conyers and husband Curt of Pleasanton and Jeffrey Hansen of Sacramento; her grandchildren, Sara and Amy Conyers of Pleasanton; and many nieces and nephews, including Craig Gahlbeck of Fair Oaks.
No services were held at her request. Remembrances may be made to Shriners' Children's Hospital at Ben Ali Shrine, 3262 Marysville Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95815.

Minnie Bonham
Graveside services will take place Saturday, Feb. 3 for Minnie J. Bonham, a longtime resident of the Sheldon area who died Jan. 27, 2007 at the age of 86.
Mrs. Bonham was born June 15, 1920 in Lone Camp,  Texas to John and Rebecca (Newberry) Blackwood, and grew up in Jacumba, in southern California.
The family enjoyed the rodeos, mainly one of the riders who captured their hearts, especially that of Minnie, and she and Wesley Bonham were married Jan. 25, 1936 in Yuma, Ariz. The couple lived in Amador County for a while, then moved back to southern California.
During World War II Mr. Bonham served in the U.S. Navy, and Mrs. Bonham was in San Francisco where she worked as a riveter and later for the U.S. post office.
Following the war they purchased 16 acres in Sheldon and lived there for 40 years, raising their daughter Janice. Mrs. Bonham participated in her daughter’s activities, serving as a 4-H leader with the Sheldon 4-H Club, and as a member of the Parents Club at Pleasant Grove Elementary School. She also taught Sunday school.
Later she worked as a housekeeper at Sutter Memorial Hospital, and in 1964 proudly received her high school diploma, graduating with her daughter.
Mrs. Bonham and her husband of 67 years enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting. He preceded her in death as did her siblings, J.T. Blackwood, Hattie Liverca, Milton “Shorty” Blackwood, Raymond Blackwood, Henry Blackwood, James Blackwood and Dora Blackwood Webb.
She is survived by her daughter, Janice Bonham Hinds of Elk Grove; grandchildren Joseph A. Hinds of Crockett, Jessica B. Hinds of Sacramento and Jared C. Hinds of Modesto; sister Leora Barnes and husband James LeRoy of El Cajon; brother Norman Blackwood of Jacumba; and sisters-in-law Ethel Blackwood of Pittsburg and Billie Cedarstaff of Ione.
Visitation is today (Friday) from 3 to 7 p.m. at Daneri Mortuary, 415 Broadway in Jackson. Saturday’s services begin at 2 p.m. in the Ione Public Cemetery, Ione followed by interment there.
Remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Condolences may be offered via e-mail to danerimortuary@sbcglobal.net.

Rose Marie Toste
Rose Marie Machado Toste, well known in the Elk Grove area, died in Acampo Jan. 24, 2007 at the age of 43.
Mrs. Toste was born Sept. 6, 1963 in Escalon to Manuel and Rose Machado. She grew up in Lodi, attending local schools and graduated from Tokay High School in 1981.
She was the owner of Creative Catering by Rose Marie for 16 years, a member of S.E.S. Council No. 76 in Elk Grove, and a member of Our Lady of Fatima Society in Thornton where she was Senior Queen in 1980-81. Interests included boating and water sports, the ocean and trips to Bodega Bay, shopping and jewelry.
Mrs. Toste was preceded in death by her first husband Antonio Machado and twin sons Manuel and Alvaro Machado.
She is survived by her husband Orlando Toste and daughters Lisa Marie and Judy Marie Machado all of Acampo; parents Manuel and Rose Machado of Lodi; grandmother Filomena Machado also of Lodi; stepchildren Orlando Toste Jr. of Galt, Diane Silveira, David Toste and wife Laura and Nancy Toste and fiancé Justin Handford all of Elk Grove, and Rosemary Rocha and husband Johnny of Escalon; and grandchildren Samantha, Ashley, Krysten, Stephanie, Megan and Lindsey.
Mrs. Toste was the sister of Nancy Richter and husband Rich of Galt and Manuel Machado Jr. of Lodi; and aunt of Sarah Rose and Steven Richter.
A Mass of Christian burial was held Tuesday followed by interment in Lodi Memorial Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society, Lodi Unit, 207 East Alpine Ave., Stockton, CA 95204.

Paul Klein
Memorial services will begin this morning (Wednesday) for Paul J. Klein of Elk Grove who died April 24, 2004 at the age of 86.
Mr. Klein, who was born in New York, was a retired Air Force veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He had lived in Elk Grove for 31 years.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years Ann Klein of Elk Grove; his stepdaughters, Carolyn Bauer of Reno and Marilyn Collier of New York; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Mr. Klein was the brother of Fred and Thomas Klein.
Today's services begin at 11 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Elk Grove, 8939 East Stockton Blvd. Inurnment in Elk Grove District Cemetery will be private.
Arrangements are by Elk Grove Funeral Chapel.

Frank Simunich
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 29 for Frank L. Simunich, a 79-year resident of Elk Grove who died April 24, 2004 at the age of 88.
Mr. Simunich was a veteran of World War II and a truck driver since 1939. He retired from Crystal Cream Co. in 1981.
Hobbies included gardening, reading, traveling and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ronnie Simunich, and 13 brothers and sisters.
Mr. Simunich is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lucille Simunich of Elk Grove; his children, Renee Kloss and Mark Simunich and wife; his grandchildren, Clinton and Justin Kloss, Alana Newton, Frank, Laurie and Aaron Simunich and Erin Perry; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation is today, April 28 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at South East Lawn Mortuary, 9189 East Stockton Blvd., Elk Grove. Thursday's services begin at 2 p.m. at Point Pleasant United Methodist Church, 3329 Point Pleasant Road, followed by interment in Franklin Cemetery.
