Faye E. Clark
September 23, 1933 - December 27, 2006
Birthplace: Sheldon, Iowa
Resided In: Chico, California
Faye was born on Sept. 23rd, 1933 in Sheldon, Iowa. She was a very talented musician/entertainer, skilled at playing the guitar, drums and piano. At the age of twelve, Faye started singing professionally. While performing at the International Settlement in San Francisco, she met and married professional comedian Jackie Vernon, whom Milton Berle referred to as the comedians' comedian. The marriage failed and Faye later met and married Lee Maynard while singing in Anchorage, Alaska. Together, they formed the Faye and Lee Maynard Duo and entertained across the United States, the Bahamas, Australia, and Europe. Faye had a large repertoire of songs, and the late Dr. Mazen said that she never even repeated a song thru three sets. The Maynards entertained at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas and later opened "The Melody Club" in Vegas. The club was either named after their daughter Melody or vice versa; (but what happens in Vegas stays there). Faye returned to Chico in 1967 and went to work for her brother-in-law Bill Brownell (Brownell Honda Motorcycles). She later married her childhood love, Archie McKinnon. Faye was a member of the Eagles, participated in Chico bowling leagues, and loved playing pinochle. She will be missed by many who loved her dearly.

She leaves her daughter, Melody Slothower; sister, Joy Brownell; brother, Lloyd Clark and his wife Loretta; niece, Wendy Barrow; nephews, Mike Clark and Bill Brownell, Jr.
Graveside services will be held 1p.m. Friday January 5th at Chico Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Newton-Bracewell Chico Funeral Home. A memorial reception will follow the graveside service at 2 p.m. at the Eagles Hall, 1940 Mulberry Street.
