Doris Ann Laughlin

Our mom, was like no other, she was your mom too.
Her heart was as open as the doors of our home, our table always had room for one more, often times it was her seat and making sure you had enough before she sat down.
Alone, Mom found a way to protect and provide for my sister and I, thinking of herself last, sacrificing her teenage years to give the strongest thing she ever possessed...the love of a mother...our mother. I remember falling to sleep to swish-swash of the washer, awakening to the smell of cinnamon oatmeal, and coffee-milk, as we grabbed our clean clothes off the dryer.
As I grew up, so did the situations and problems I faced, she was always there, praying, crying, and pleading with judges to give me a chance, and it was always "The last time."
I was always the second to know it was my birthday, no matter where I was, she would call me at 6:15 am and tell me the story of the auto accident and the pain she endured to bring me into the world......I'll miss her this year.
As time passed, visits became less frequent, but the phone calls increased, busy as ever, no strays in our neighborhood as any animal was subject to her affection and eventually, our house, then she upgraded to people! She made a lot of friends and would call me with the names of "oh you remember" friends, that I acknowledged as "oh her, or yea him," then she explained the plan she had to help them with their cases or get their children back or whatever she felt she could do to make their situation right, she would never give up, on anything or anyone.
Over time the list of her friends grew as well as the people in her prayers and the names became house-hold conversation.
She was going to pray for me the last time we spoke on Halloween morning, and said she had something for our kids, she was happy. Always giving, helping was all she knew.
Anyone who was touched by her life will never be the same....
Thank you mom,
We love you!!
