Cecile Elizabeth Durflinger

July 30, 1909 - Dec. 2, 2004

Cecile Elizabeth Durflinger, 95, died on Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004 at Camino Hospital in Mountain View.

Mrs. Durflinger was born on July 30, 1909 to Fred and Cora Roniger in Elmdale, Kans. She married Laurence “Larry” Durflinger on April 30, 1930 in Hutchison, Kans.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Queen Esther Chapter 66 and the Sutter Creek United Methodist Church in Sutter Creek. Cecile made Amador County her home for 37 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Lora Corner of Sunnyvale; and daughter-in-law, Patricia Durflinger of Brentwood; grandchildren, Denise Baker of Antioch, Scott Corner of El Dorado Hills, Jeff Durflinger of Walnut Creek, Tracy Corner of Redwood City, Steven Durflinger of Lafayette; four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Laurence “Larry” Durflinger and son, Jim Durflinger.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, Dec. 9 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Daneri Mortuary in Jackson.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, Dec. 10 at 1 p.m. at Sutter Creek Methodist Church in Sutter Creek. Interment will be at the Sutter Creek Cemetery in Sutter Creek. Arrangements are being entrusted to Daneri Mortuary in Jackson.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sutter Creek United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 983, Sutter Creek 95685.

James C. Faddis

Aug. 3, 1930 - Dec. 7, 2004

James C. Faddis, 74, of Harrisburg, Mo., formerly of Lodi, died on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004 at a Columbia, Mo., hospital.

Mr. Faddis was born on Aug. 3, 1930 in Cove Creek, Ark., the son of Lee and Clarice (Parr) Faddis.

J.C. served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the war, he followed his father’s footsteps and entered into the California logging industry until his retirement in 2000. At that time, he and his wife Bette returned to Missouri to make their home after living in California for over 60 years.

He was a member of the Harrisburg Christian Church for three years.

He is survived by his wife, Bette Faddis of Harrisburg, Mo.; sons, Frank Faddis of River Pines and Jim Faddis of Israel; brothers, Roy Faddis of Plymouth, Bob Faddis of Fallon, Nev.; sister, Lydia Palmer of Fallon, Nev. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one brother.

The family with receive friends after 9 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11 at the Roberson Funeral Home in Pattonsburg, Mo.

Graveside service with burial to follow, will be held on Saturday, Dec. 11 at 11 a.m. at the Coffey Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Roberson Funeral Homes, Inc., Bethany, Mo.

Norma Louise Hillis

Feb. 18, 1931 - Dec. 5, 2004

Norma Louise Hillis, 73, died on Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004 in Jackson.

Mrs. Hillis was born on Feb. 18, 1931 to William and Nora Gordon in Porter, Okla. Norma lived in California for many years before retiring happily in Jackson, which was “just enough country” for her.

She was an avid and competitive golfer, a former tournament chairman for several ladies golf clubs, including the San Leandro Marina Ladies Golf Club and those she joined and helped to organize in the  Jackson area.

Norma volunteered regularly for the Sutter Amador Hospital Auxiliary bringing comfort and joy to the elderly and participated in the local Republican Women’s Organization.

She was the adored wife of 31 years to Charles Hillis of Jackson; loving mother of Bill and Scott Boerder; beloved step-mother of Kathleen Krentz and John Hillis; sister of Laverne Blevins; grandmother of Kevin and Bryan Hillis, Karen Skipper, Robert and Brendan Moseley and Ryan Boerder and was a friend to many.

There will be a celebration of Norma’s life in January for family and friends. Inurnment will be in the Garden of Valor at Sunset View Cemetery in Martell. Arrangements were entrusted to Daneri Mortuary in Jackson.

Emma N. Moore

June 2, 1926 - Dec. 7, 2004

Emma N. Moore, 78, died on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004 in Jackson.

Mrs. Moore was born on June 2, 1926 to Sol and Alta Poor in Armada, Ark. Emma moved to California in 1945. She lived in Amador and Calaveras counties from 1952 until 1972 when she moved to Pittsburgh. She then moved back to Amador County in 2001.

She is survived by her sons, James R. Moore of Lodi, William K. Moore of  Washington; brothers, Don Poore of Drytown, Roy Poor of Oregon, Ray Poor of Northern California; sister-in-law, Lula Poor of Plymouth; grandchildren, Jacquelyn, Rickey, Rachel; four great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, Alice, David, Alta, Joyce, Evelyn, Nancy, Douglas, Mary, Chris and Ken all of the Plymouth area. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, James P. Moore in 1987; sisters, Faye, Anna, Gracie and a brother, Clyde.

The funeral service was held on Friday, Dec. 10 at Daneri Mortuary Chapel in Jackson. Interment was at the  Jackson City Cemetery in Jackson. Arrangements were entrusted to Daneri Mortuary in Jackson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Condolences may be offered to the family at daneri@cdepot.net.

Dolores Rose Lucero

Dec. 27, 1938 - Dec. 12, 2004

Dolores Rose Lucero, 65, died on Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004 at her home in Acampo.

Mrs. Lucero was born on Dec. 27, 1938 in Los Angeles.

She moved to Amador County in 1992 from Southern California. She enjoyed arts and crafts and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Henry Lucero of Pine Grove; son, Daniel Lucero and his wife Melissa of Acampo; daughter, Christina Matta and her husband, Zack of Jackson; grandchildren, Morgan Lopez of Palmdale, Jonathon Lucero, Samantha Lucero and Anthony Bal-Lucero of Acampo; great-grandson, Fernando Lopez, Jr., of Palmdale; brother, James Urioste and his wife Bea of Orange. She was preceded in death by her loving sister, Catherine Hale in 2001.

The funeral service will take place on Friday, Dec. 17 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Stockton. Viewing will be held on Friday, Dec. 17 prior to 9 a.m. at the same location. Interment will be at the San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Rocha’s Mortuary in Lodi. A reception will follow at the Lucero home in Acampo.

Floral arrangements and contributions may be made to Rocha’s Mortuary, 215 South School St., Lodi 95240.
