Joyce Denise (Burns) Weldon, 44, died following a courageous battle with cancer on Friday, June 3, 2005 at Lodi Memorial Hospital in Lodi.

Mrs. Weldon was born Joyce Denise Burns on June 25, 1960, in the town of Roseville to Bert and Wilma Burns. She attended Kindergarten in Roseville before moving with her family to Burson. She attended grade school at Valley Springs Elementary School and graduated from Calaveras High School in 1978. Joyce was united in marriage to Thomas David Weldon on Oct. 7, 1978. They made their home in Orange Cove until 1987 when they moved to Valley Springs.

She had been a member of the Burson Full Gospel Church since 1973. As a teenager, Joyce acknowledged her calling to minister to children, thus she began teaching Sunday school and became a church camp counselor. She also involved herself in numerous children’s ministries including bus ministry, children’s crusades and vacation Bible school. Joyce served many years as Junior Camp Director for her organization and her church.

For the past 16 years she served as Sunday School Superintendent. We will miss her presence and leadership. Her service was to those of all ages but her passion was to make the lives of children better and to teach them to trust God. Her legacy has extended to children all over the state.
