Stanley O. Yager

Stanley O. Yager, 95, died on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003 at his home on Preston Avenue in Ione.

Mr. Yager was born on April 8, 1909, to George and Alice Orr Yager, in the same home on Preston Avenue.

He was a highway worker when he told his cousin, Frank that he wanted to sell cars. He went to San Francisco with $1000 in his pocket and came home with a new Plymouth and DeSoto car dealership. By 1936, he also had the Pontiac dealership. In 1937, Stanley married Anne Obrad of Jackson.

During World War II, he enlisted in the Air Force and taught the 18-year old recruits to fly B25 bombers in a link trainer on the ground.

In 1945 he rented a used car lot from Frank Boskovich and eventually had used car lots in Ione and Angels Camp.

He is survived by many cousins; Jean Applegate and family, Lewis Yager and family, John Joses and family, Arthur and Ida Lahiff and family; and special friends, Bo Hurtado and Jackie Ally. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anne Yager, in October of 2000.

Stanley had a good life of 95 years and will be sadly missed.

Visitation took place Thursday, Oct. 9, at Daneri Mortuary in Jackson. The funeral service will be held on Friday, Oct. 10, at 1 p.m. at the same location. Interment will be at the Ione Public Cemetery in Ione. Arrangements are being handled by Daneri Mortuary in Jackson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1765 Challenge Way, Ste. 115, Sacramento 95815.

John Allen Henney

John Allen Henney, 57, died on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003 at Sutter Amador Hospital in Jackson.

Mr. Henney was born on Feb. 15, 1946 to Harold and Joan Henney in San Francisco.

John married Claudia Deniz on Sept. 5, 1971 at Lake Tahoe. He worked as a truck driver for seven years and made Amador County his home also for the past seven years.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Claudia Henney of Sutter Creek; children, Kevin Henney of Sutter Creek and Janel Henney of Penne Grove; mother, Jean Henney of Monte Rio; brothers, Jim Henney of Fulton and Tom Henney of Monte Rio; sister, Linda Alemagna of San Mateo.

The funeral service was held Thursday, Oct. 9, at Daneri Mortuary Chapel in Jackson. Interment was in the Garden of Tranquility at Sunset View Cemetery in Martell. Arrangements are being handled by Daneri Mortuary in Jackson.

Mary Bustillos

Mary Bustillos, 83, died on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003 at her home in Sutter Creek.

Mrs. Bustillos was born July 20, 1920 to Nicolas and Guillerma Garcia in Amador City.

She was a member of the Native Daughters of the Golden West, Ursula Parlor No. I, VFW Auxiliary and the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph “Joe” Bustillos of Sutter Creek; children, Marilyn Bustillos and William “Bill” J. Bustillos, both of Sutter Creek; daughter-in-law, Carol Bustillos; sisters, Carmen Rossetto of Roseville, Ida Walsh of Sutter Creek; brother, Nick Garcia of Sutter Creek; grandchildren, Christopher Bustillos of Sutter Creek, Sgt. Jacob Ross and Sgt. John Ross, both serving in Iraqi; five nephews; five nieces; and many grandnephews and grandnieces. She was preceded in death by brothers, Joe Garcia and Bill Garcia; sisters, Isabel Martinez, Delia Garcia and Sue Garcia.

A vigil took place on Thursday, Oct. 9, at 7 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sutter Creek.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, Oct. 10, at 11 a.m. at the same location. Interment will be at the Sutter Creek Catholic Cemetery in Sutter Creek. Arrangements are being handled by Daneri Mortuary in Jackson.

Vivian Elaine Duke

Vivian Elaine Duke, 57, passed away after a battle with cancer, on Wednesday Nov. 19, 2003, in Sacramento.

Mrs. Duke was born on Dec. 17, 1945, in San Francisco.

Vivian was a resident of Pioneer and an active and successful Realtor working for Century 21 in Amador County. She loved shopping on QVC, the television shopping channel and spoiling her grandsons.

At her passing Vivian was surrounded by her husband of 40 years, Don; her daughters, Tina Pilcher and Donna Mortensen and her grandsons Alex Mortensen, Colin and Aidan Pilcher and son-in-law Martin Pilcher; sisters, Gloria Chandler and Shirley Ivey, both of Napa and brother, Pat Hurley.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Al and Laura Hurley and her older brother Don.

The family would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to the family members and friends who assisted during Vivian’s illness and also to the Hospice personnel who displayed great compassion for both Vivian and her family during this time of trial.

A celebration of her life will be held at the Historian Inn in Sutter Creek, on Friday, Dec. 12, from 2 to 4 p.m. Arrangements were handled by Nautilus of Lemon Hill Road in Sacramento.

Andrew J. Ghiglieri

Andrew J. Ghiglieri, 88, died on Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003 in Jackson.

Mr. Ghiglieri was born on Aug. 28, 1915 in  Jackson and raised at  Jackson Gate. He was a veteran serving in the U. S. Army during World War II.

He and his wife, Bayona were the former owners of Andy’s Liquor and Sporting Goods in  Jackson for over 35 years Andrew enjoyed many pastimes including gardening, hunting, fishing, and cooking. He loved life and cherished his family and many friends.

He was a member of many local organizations including  Jackson Lion’s Club, Elks Lodge, Italian Benevolent Society, Veteran of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Native Sons of the Golden West.

Andrew is survived by his daughter, Susan Sequeira and her husband, Lionel of Jackson.

The family wishes to thank Hospice of Amador, especially, Mary, Nancy and Joan, for their very kind, thoughtful care and comforting support.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 10, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Daneri Mortuary in Jackson.

Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, Dec. 10, at p.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Jackson.

Mass of Christian burial will take place on Thursday, Dec. 11, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Jackson. Interment will be in the St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Jackson. Arrangements are being handled by Daneri Mortuary in Jackson.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Amador, P.O. Box 595,  Jackson 95642 or the charity of the donor’s choice. Condolences may be offered to the family at daneri@cdepot.net

Eleanor Elizebeth Trauger

Eleanor Elizebeth Trauger, 75, of Pine Grove, died on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003, at Sutter Memorial Hospital in Sacramento.

Mrs. Trauger was born on Feb. 19, 1928, in Lambertville N.J. She moved to Pine Grove in 1972 to retire with her husband and enjoy her crafts.

She is survived by her son, Bruce Trauger of Norfolk Va.; daughter, Bonnie Hayselden of Pine Grove; brother, Jimmy  Johnson of Lambertville, N. J.; sisters, Gert Hedgepeth of Chatsworth, Ruth Monday and Joyce Carmody, both of Lambertville, N. J., Claire Narducci of Florida; great aunt Mary Peters of Citrus Heights; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Trauger in 1995.

Graveside service will be held on Friday, Dec. 12, at 1 p.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery in Pine Grove. Interment will follow. Arrangements are being handled by McCrory’s Funeral Home in Pine Grove.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
