Nancy Lee Delmos
January 5, 1938 – September 1, 2007
Nancy Lee Delmos passed away in the early morning of Saturday, Sept. 1 from a short battle with cancer. I say "short" because God was very merciful and Mom was sick for only three and a half months.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Tony Delmos, mother Leila Fretwell, father Stan Fretwell and two brothers, Sonny and Dean.
Nancy is survived by her sons John Jeffrey Delmos, Joseph Anthony Delmos (with daughter-in-law Kathy Delmos) and daughter Stormy Lee Delmos-Storm (with son-in-law Ed Storm).
Nancy had four grandchildren: Noah Gene Mitts, Naomi Lee Mitts, Anthony Christian Delmos and Shara Marie Delmos.
Nancy was born on Green Street in Temple City, California. After growing up in South Arcadia she shared a place with her best friend Audrey Yungaray until meeting Tony and moving to Lebec around 1963.
Together they built a successful business, once known as Delmos Trucking and now as Delmos Forest & Cinder Products LLC (dba Pacific Coast Forest Products).
Nancy was an exceptional and loving person and will be greatly missed. Services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 8, at her place of worship, Lebec Church on Lebec Road at 10:30 a.m.

Effie Meadows Hawkins
February 24, 1917 – August 31, 2007
Longtime Frazier Park resident Effie Hawkins passed away after a brief illness and a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.
She leaves behind a son, Mark Auman of Las Vegas, Nevada and a daughter, Sharon Witt of Frazier Park. Two of her six grandchildren live in Frazier Park: Bridgett Cole, her husband Wade and three sons Lance, Shane and Seth; Cheryl McKinney and her three daughters Jessica, Kara and Julia; Her three other grandchildren are Andrea Auman, Lance Auman and Angel Auman. They have six more great grandchildren between them.
Effie is preceded in death by a daughter Linda, a granddaughter Robin Carson Parker, her husband (my father) Dave Auman and her second husband Matt Hawkins.
She was born Effie Meadows into an Arkansas farm family of 12 children, whew, plus cousins. All of them graduated from high school and most of them from college. I have some great stories of her childhood (even dating advice from her mother). They went through the depression era and wars together. My mother was not just "mom," she was my teacher. She taught me all the things that bring me great joy: sewing, cooking, a love of reading, gardening and seeing the drama and romance in life. She had a good long life and was well loved. She's having a reunion in heaven.
The family is planning a private service. She will be laid to rest in Eternal Valley in Newhall with her daughter, Linda.
Brian Gerald Masmeyer
February 14, 1959 – September 3, 2007
Brian's Lord and Savior has taken him home to be with his Mom, Dad and "Boots," his cat.
Brian will be missed by all who loved him. He is survived by his sisters Henny (Dennis) Chassie of Frazier Park, Cathy (Tim) Hinson of Newhall, Casey (Tammie) Masmeyer of Meridian, Idaho; brother in law Richard Gallego of Frazier Park and by Dicky (Bill) Dykstra, Tina Masmeyer and Gerry (Gladys) Masmeyer- all of Ontario, Canada. He was also loved by his many nieces and nephews. We will all miss Brian deeply.
Graveside services for Brian will be held at Forest Lawn Mortuary in Cypress Monday, Sept. 10 at 10:30 a.m. Anyone wishing to attend please contact a family member or Mountain Park Baptist Church Office 245-4524 for directions.
A community memorial service will be held at the Vineyard Church in Frazier Park Sunday, Sept. 16 at 4:00 p.m. (729 Pomona Trail).
Mary Ann Jewett
1951 – 2007
MaryAnn Jewett of Pine Mountain passed away on September 7, 2007, of pancreatic cancer. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 15.
MaryAnn was a longtime resident of our Mountain Communities. She moved to Pine Mountain in 1989 with her husband, Art and daughters, Jessica and Alicia. Besides working in childcare and home health care, MaryAnn was active in several local groups, including the Pine Mountain lace making and quilting clubs. She was a member of the Frazier Park Evangelical Free Church.
MaryAnn was born on June 4, 1951, to Steve and Josephine Radovan of Sheboygan, Wisconsin. She attended Sheboygan South High School and graduated from the University of Wisconsin Madison, majoring in interior design. MaryAnn moved to California in 1978, where she was married to Arthur J. Jewett in 1985. A woman of many talents, she loved to sew, quilt, make lace and dabble in numerous other crafts and hobbies. But she undoubtedly will be most remembered for her vivacious spirit, compassionate heart, adventurousness, spontaneity, loyalty to her friends, unyielding love for her family and unwavering faith in God. Her life exemplified faithfulness, joy, wisdom and God's commandment to love others more than oneself.
MaryAnn is survived by her husband, Art; sons, Erin (and his wife, Erin), Frank, Ian (and wife, Khristine), Henry (and wife, Desirae); daughters, Jessica (and husband, Paul) Minassian, and Alicia; grandchildren, Marissa, Andi, Josh, Ranon, Nolan, Bronson, and Ryan Kailey; mother, Josephine Radovan; brothers Steve (and wife Karla), Patrick (and wife Vicki), Michael, and Thomas (and wife Renee); sisters, Joann (with husband, Gary) Richter, Carol (with husband, David) Lorier, and Julie Dietz; with numerous nephews, nieces and friends.
The memorial service will be held in Lake of the Woods, at the new El Camino Pines Lutheran Church, on Saturday, Sept. 15, at 2:00 p.m.

Victor Vernon Jensen March 26, 1918-Sept. 2, 2007
Victor Vernon Jensen was born in Crawford, Nebraska on March 26, 1918 and passed away on September 2, 2007 at Astoria Rehabilitation Center in Sylmar, California.
He was laid to rest at Crawford Memorial Park in Chatsworth California on Friday, Sept. 7 with full military honors.
Dad lived in Frazier Park the last twenty-one years of his life and touched the hearts of more people than he could ever imagine. He could cause someone to laugh at one of his jokes or even at themselves, or quote a Bible scripture to encourage someone to examine themselves.
Dad was more than a "jack-of-all-trades," he was a master of them all-from working on his parents' farm while he was growing up to becoming a military officer in charge during the Second World War. He was a carpenter, contractor and master builder after the war.
Most importantly, he was a loving husband and father with an awe-inspiring knowledge of life.
Victor is survived by his sister Evelyn Taylor of Great Falls, Virginia; sons Roger and Eddie Jensen, his grandsons Brent and Jason Jensen, and his great grandsons Alexander and Christopher Jensen.
The love, counsel, and wise words of Dad will be greatly missed, but he is in a far better place with no more pain or sickness.

Richard Lee Culver, December 15, 1927-August 31, 2007
Richard "Dick" Lee Culver, 79 passed away on August 31, 2007 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Dick lived for 18 years in Pinon Pines. He was born on December 15, 1927 in Glendale, California to Esther Inez (Alexander) and Guy Ross Culver.
After serving in the Navy, Dick married the love of his life, Dorothy Tucker (Carraway-Bizzell) August 6, 1949 at Saint Mark's Episcopal Church, in Glendale. He retired from General Telephone and Electric after 31 years. Dick and Tucker moved to Pinon Pines in 1978. He enjoyed fishing, camping, golfing and helping others. Both Dick and Tucker were involved with many community activities on 'the Hill', such as Meals on Wheels. Dick was the water master for Pinon Pines. He also did electrical work for residents of all parts of the mountain. In 1996 the couple retired again to Lake Havasu City in Arizona.
Dick is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Ruth Boeckman and Shirley Luther and his brother Guy Culver. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 58 years, Dorothy Tucker- Culver of Lake Havasu City; sons Richard "Lee" Culver (State College, Pa), Guy "Jeff" Jeffrey Culver (Placerville, Ca); daughter Carey Tucker (Culver) Shaw (Danville, Ca); brother Donald Ross Culver (Ferndale, Wa); sisters Verna Biech (Marysville, Wa), Doris Cook (Puyallup, Wa.,); grandchildren Minda (Culver) Bila and seven grandchildren.

Fred Westlund
“Fearless” Fred Westlund, a 34-year resident of Pine Mountain and well-known contractor, went to be with the Lord on September 13 at 3:18 a.m.
Celebrating Fred’s wonderful life is his wife of 55 years Pat, their two children, Brian Westlund (with his wife Tricia and grandchildren Britten, Braedon, and Brielyn of Portland, Oregon) and his daughter Lynn Johnson (with her husband of Neil Tarzana, California) and his loving sister, Betty Steen.
Fred, born January 27, 1929, often wrote articles for The Mountain Enterprise over the years and enjoyed the small community life of the mountain. He will be remembered as one of the first general contractors of Pine Mountain, building over 150 homes in the area. The Westlunds were the first permanent family with children in Pine Mountain. He was a founding member of Pine Mountain Christian Community Church—and built the church as well. He was also one of the original visionaries of the annual end-of-summer Oktoberfest celebration. Fred will always be known for his humor and servant heart. He was never without a joke and a helping hand to those in need.
