John Russel Columbo

February 12, 1938 - July 31, 2007

Frazier Park resident Russ Columbo passed across on July 31, 2007. He is survived by his only son Nicolas Columbo and his dog Buck.

He was born John Russel Columbo on Februry 12, 1938 to John and Sybil Columbo of Los Angeles, California.

Russ was an only child but part of a large and loving family. His uncle Russ, with whom he shared a name, had become famous as a singer and band leader, sharing the limelight with the likes of Rudolph Valentino and Bing Crosby. My father was always very proud of that. My father lived an incredibly rich life filled with stories that were too good not to be true. He made friends easily, but did not take friendship lightly.

He loved cars and he loved driving them fast. He had a vintage racing team in the 1990s with his friend Peter Raphael. He was a prop master in Los Angeles as well as the owner of Columbo's Antiques on Beverly Boulevard. He appreciated quality and craftsmanship. He loved music and art. He was honest, straightforward and brave to the very end. It was an honor for me to be here with him.

He was dearly loved by many and will always be missed.

Pops, give Nicole a kiss for me.

Jerry Wade Yancy
June 17, 1958 - September 26, 2007

Our dear friend will be missed...

Jerry Yancy was a giant of a man in more ways than might seem apparent. Those who knew him knew just how big his heart really was! He loved life, people and especially his family. Jerry leaves behind a family he loved very much-his son Jerald Wade Yancy; grandson Quinton Yancy; brothers Theodore, Stanley and Gary Yancy; Philip Hamn; his ex-wife Jennet Nichols and her daughter Cindy. Jerry also leaves behind countless friends and other relatives who all are richer for knowing him.

He loved his job driving a tow-truck because it gave him a chance to meet and help people. He was always there for those who needed him. His life was interesting and full. Like all of us, Jerry had his ups and downs-but he never lost faith that God would give him the grace and strength to get through them. He was faithful to God's promises as he sought Him to overcome the battles, not unlike those we all face. Jerry's life, you see, had purpose and meaning: a model of overcoming. Thanks, Jerry, for leading the way.
