Lois Battagin

She is survived by her daughters Bonnie Brown Forester and her husband Bill Forester of Hollister and Barbara Seiler and her husband Martin Seiler of Hollister; grandchildren Julie Brown Steindorf of Davis, Kristina Dyer of San Clemente, Randy Brown of Las Vegas, Jeanene Seiler of San Francisco and Andrea Seiler of North Carolina; and 10 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew R. Battagin.

Services have been held under the direction of Habing Family Funeral Home, Gilroy.

Barbara E. Rossi

Barbara E. Rossi died Sunday, June 27, 2004, at St. Louise Hospital, Gilroy. She was 78.

A native of Michigan, Rossi moved to San Jose in 1957 and worked for IBM for 25 years. She moved to Gilroy in 1990 and has been a resident ever since. She was also a member of TOPS, San Jose.

She was the loving wife of 50 years to Arnold Rossi of Gilroy; mother of Lorraine Dahl of Oregon; grandmother of Brandon, Stephen and Justin Trammell, all of Gilroy; great-grandmother of Colton Rossi Trammell of Gilroy; sister of John Allen Townsend of New York, Shirley Corey of New York, Mary Miller of Connecticut and Patty Duffy of Nichols. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Private family services were held under direction of Habing Family Funeral Home, Gilroy.

The family asks that any donations be made to the American Heart Association.

Gorgea Tueller Miller

Gorgea Tueller Miller died June 26, 2004, at home in Corvallis with three of her daughters present.

She was born to Arnold and Grace Sims Tueller on May 13, 1913 in Montpelier, Idaho. She grew up in Montepelier and was valedictorian of her high school class. She was 91.

She married Ronald Miller on December 24, 1931 in Paris, Idaho. They moved to Boise shortly after her second daughter was born. They raised six daughters in Boise where she often worked as a professional baker. In 1980, after her husband retired from being a mail carrier, they went to Prince Edward Island to serve on an 18-month mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The LDS church was very important in her life.

She moved to California shortly after the mission and settled near three of her daughters. She lived in Gilroy until her husband, Ronald, died. Then she moved to Morgan Hill where she lived with her daughter Judith Newman for several years. When Judith died unexpectedly, Mary Ball, another of her daughters, moved from Boise to Morgan Hill to be with her. She just recently moved to Corvallis to be with Monine Stebbins and Geraldine Gibson, two other daughters. She enjoyed her church activities, doing embroidery, reading and baking. She was very musical, singing in various choirs. When she was young, she played the piano, French horn and violin.

She is survived by her daughters Mary Jean Ball of Boise, Georgina O'Sullivan of Santa Clara, Monine Stebbins and Geraldine Gibson, both of Corvallis, Ore., and Sandra Lee  Jones of Gilroy; a brother of Charles Tueller, Wisconsin; and sisters Dona Wilson of  Texas and Beverly Argyle of Utah; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grand children; and four great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Miller; daughter Judith Ann Newman; and two grandchildren.

The funeral was this morning, July 2, at the LDS Church in Morgan Hill, 1790 E. Dunne Ave. Burial will be in Gilroy. A memorial service will be held in Corvallis, Oregon, at the Congregational UCC on West Hills Road at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 10.

Arrangements were under the direction of Habing Family Funeral Home, Gilroy.

Robert L. Orta

Robert L. Orta died Friday, June 25, 2004, at the Veterans Hospital in Palo Alto.

Robert was a Vietnam veteran who enjoyed fishing, reading and most importantly spending time with his “boys,” his beloved grandsons. He was a mobile home mechanic for over 30 years at both FMC Corp. in San Jose and Alpine Recreation in Morgan Hill.

Robert was born and raised in Crystal City,  Texas. He attended schools there until moving to Morgan Hill in 1965. He was a graduate of Live Oak High School.

Robert will be deeply missed by all his family and friends.

He is survived by his children Robert L. Orta II and Rachelle Orta of San Jose; wife, Juanita Beltran-Orta; parents Guadalupe and Manuela Orta; sisters Santa Morales and Gloria Figueroa of San Jose, Lupe Lopez of Pinole, Isabel  Jones of Gilroy, Rosie Flores, Carmen Gonzalez and Teresa Crue; brothers Rodolfo Orta, Ramon Orta of Greenfield, Rey Orta of Mountain View and Ramiro Orta of San Mateo; beloved grandchildren Mathew Mitchell, Anthony Schuman of San Jose, Robert III, Daniel and Eric Orta. He was the beloved uncle to 30 nephews and nieces, great-uncle to 31 nephews and nieces, and great-great uncle to four nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his brother Ricardo Orta and brother-in-law Rodolfo Z. Flores.

Services were Thursday, July 1, at the National Veterans Memorial in Gustine.

Lowell F. Dennis

Lowell F. Dennis died June 27, 2004, in Morgan Hill at age 76.

He was a wonderful father and friend to all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.

He was the loving father of Roanne, Tony and Danielle Dennis; devoted grandfather to Bret Erickson; great-grandfather of Bailie Carpenter-Erickson; and brother of Barbara Hoyt, Lorraine Peterson. He also is survived by many loving relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary Zotta-Dennis.

Arrangments are under the direction of  Johnson Funeral Home. A memorial service is planned.

Delphia Jean Miller

Delphia Jean Miller, born Oct. 10, 1924, died July 7, 2004. She was 79 years old.

Jean is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Steve Smith of San Martin and Judy and Leo Mader of Redding; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Buster Miller.

Services take place at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 12, at  Johnson Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at the Castroville District Cemetery in Moss Landing.

Donald Sproat

Donald “Michael” Sproat, born Feb. 6, 1944, died July 5, 2004.

It is with deepest sorrow to announce the sudden illness and death of my best friend, and lover of 33 years. Michael loved spending time with his family and riding his new Harley Davidson Motorcycle, boating, football and drag racing events. He loved his 4 puppies.

He was dedicated to his family, his work, customer and friends. He was a truck manager for Marx Chevrolet, Anderson Chevrolet and Peninsula Ford.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl; beloved children Julie Ann, Tara Dea, Jason Michael and foster son Robert Pearce; sons-in-law, Kirk Perry, Dennis Allgood; and his beloved grandchildren Megan LaBonte and Justin Allgood.

Friends are invited to a memorial service at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 11, at Morgan Hill Bible Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of  Johnson Funeral Home.
