Nellie L. Crittenden

Nellie L. Crittenden died Feb. 17, 2005, in Eastland,  Texas.

Nellie is survived by her daughter Roberta Villarreal; grandchildren Debbie Davis, Ken Reynolds and Linda Salazar, all of Morgan Hill; seven great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Crittenden.

There were no services.

Marva Simpson

Marva Simpson was born on May 7, 1900, in Myrtle, Mo., and died March 16, 2005, after suffering a stroke at Beverly Health Care in Sonora. She was 104.

Marva Simpson lived in Sonora for five years. Previous to that, she lived in San Martin from 1966-2000 with her son George Robinson. She was a housewife all of her adult years except during World War II, when she worked for Douglas Aircraft factory in Tulsa, Okla. She loved working in the garden and cooking.

She is survived by her son George Robinson of Sonora (formerly of San Martin), and daughter Bethel Hennigan and her husband Joe of Pasadena; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation takes place from 5-8pm today, March 22, at  Johnson Funeral Home. Services take place at 11am on Wednesday, March 23, at the funeral home. Interment follows at Gavilan Hills Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made to Macular Degeneration Research, 22512 Gateway Center Drive, Clarksburg, MD 20871.

Evelyn M. Paganucci

Evelyn M. Paganucci died Saturday March 19, 2005. She was 92.

Mrs. Paganucci was born and raised in Gilroy and graduated from Gilroy High School in 1932. She married her loving husband Leo in 1935 and worked at Filice and Perelli Cannery for more than 35 years.

She was an avid member of St. Mary Church, the Catholic Ladies Aid Society, the Italian Catholic Federation and Women in Touch. She volunteered for St. Mary’s Church and the Gilroy Garlic Festival.

Some of her favorite past-times were sewing, gardening, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling and playing cards with her friends. She will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved her.

Evelyn was the wife of the late Leo E. Paganucci; loving mother of Gemma E. Castro and Leola J. Burns, both of Gilroy; dear grandmother of Lori and Steve Parshall, Lisa and Tom Weiby, Jeff and Henrietta Castro, Julie and John Miller, all of Gilroy, and Jennifer and Luke Corona of Hollister; loving Nonni to Timothy and Rebecca Parshall, Sarah and Michelle Weiby, Alyssa and Justin Castro, Gabrielle and Amanda Miller, all of Gilroy, and Madison and Hayden Corona of Hollister; and sister of Linda Giretti and Clara Perino, both of Gilroy.

She also is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and will be remembered lovingly by special friends, Rey and Rio Arambulo. She was preceded in death by her husband Leo E. Paganucci in 1973, son-in-laws Eddie Castro and Tom Burns, and brother George Ciabattari, all of Gilroy.

Vigil takes place at 6pm today, March 22, at Habing Family Funeral Home. Services take place at 9am on Wednesday, March 23, at the funeral home with a Mass to follow at 10am at St. Mary’s Church. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

The family asks that any donations be made to St. Mary’s Parish and School or the American Cancer Society.

Lovell Keith Adams, Jr.

Lovell Keith Adams, Jr., also known as “J.R.”, died Friday, March 18, in Cancun, Mexico.

J.R. was born on July 17, 1987, to Melody Ann Behbahani and Lovell “KC” Adams, Sr., at Wheeler Hospital in Gilroy.

During his childhood he attended school in Morgan Hill and was a senior at Valley Christian High School in San Jose. J.R. was an outstanding football player who received a full scholarship to Idaho State University.

He was also selected to the Silicon Valley Youth Classic/Charlie Wedemeyer All-star Football Game and was voted MVP along with being the West Catholic Athletic League Running Back of the year.

He was known for his unforgettable smile and his vibrant goofy sense of humor. J.R. loved the Lord, his family, friends and girlfriend Haley.

He leaves behind his parents; step-mother Elizabeth Adams; brothers Ryan Baron Behbahani and Quillan Patrick McJunkin; sisters Sebrina Lavonne Adams and Kaia Lanee Adams; grandparents Claudia Stillwell, Bud and Linda Park, Lewis and Jeanne Adams, and Barbara Colquitte; great-grandparents Melvie and Clarence Jones, Homer Colquitte, and Kathryn Jean Blake. He also leaves behind a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents Francis F. Blake and Jack and Edna Abshire.

Visitation takes place from 4-9pm on Monday, March 28, at Habing Family Funeral Home. Funeral Services take place at 10am on Tuesday, March 29, at Valley Christian High School.

James “Jim” Biafore

James "Jim" Biafore died peacefully after a courageous three-year battle with Multiple Myeloma on March 24, 2005. He was 70 years old.

Jim was born in Clarksburg, WV. Jim was a member of the US Naval Reserve for 10 years. He married his high school sweetheart and relocated to CA in 1956. He retired from IBM in 1995 after 27 years of service. Jim was known as a gentleman and a gentle man. His quiet and unassuming presence, thoughtful heart and strong determination will be remembered by all.

Jim was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, camping and traveling. It is with deep gratitude that the family would like to personally thank the doctors and nurses at South Bay Oncology and Stanford BMT.

He was the loving husband of 48 years to Mary Biafore, dear brother of Rose Emma Pelliccione, Joseph Biafore, Jr. and Frank Biafore all of Gilroy. Loving son-in-law of Bessie Furbee, and brother-in-law to Patricia and Domenic DiGirolamo all of Richmond, VA.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Mary Biafore. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation on March 26 from 1pm-5pm, and March 28 from 9am-10:30am at Habing Family Funeral Home, Gilroy. Then to St. Mary's Church for Mass at 11am. Entombment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Gilroy. Gonzalo ‘Chino’ Esquivel

Gonzalo “Chino” Esquivel of Morgan Hill, died March 24, 2005, at St. Louise Hospital in Gilroy. He was 42.

“Chino” is survived by his loving wife of 10 years, Irene; parents, Norberto and Francisca Esquivel; brothers Sergio, Jose Luis Esquivel, Manuel, Alberto and Armando Esquivel; brother-in-law Jesus Lechuga; sisters Rosa Esquivel, Maria Esquivel, Esther Lechuga-Esquivel; sisters-in-law, Maria Esquivel, Silivina Esquivel, Anna and Melinda Esquivel; children, Gonzalo Esquivel Jr; daughter-in-law, Angelina Esquivel, Ricardo Esquivel, Carlos Caudillo, Armando Esquivel, Marcos Esquivel, Sandra Esquivel, Maria Guadalupe Esquivel, Ramona Esquivel and Anisha Esquivel; grandchildren, Gonzalo Esquivel III, Johnny Esquivel, Annette Esquivel, Carlos Caudillo Jr, Elias Caudillo, Dreama Esquivel, James Esquivel, Gaberial Esquivel, Alijah Esquivel, Mary Esquivel, Zandra Esquivel and Lazanda Esquivel. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5-9pm today, March 29, with Vigil Service at 6:30pm, at  Johnson Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am Wednesday, March 30, at St. Catherine Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Harlin Gregory

Harlin Gregory died of cancer Saturday, March 26, 2005, in the Santa Teresa Kaiser Hospital in San Jose.

Mr. Gregory worked for the Ford Motor Co. for nearly 33 years in Oakland and Milpitas. He lived in Santa Clara county for 50 years and was a resident of Morgan Hill since 1962.

He is survived by children Philip Gregory of Gilroy and Tina Gregory Urban of Morgan Hill and their spouses, Cindy Gregory and Jeff Urban; cherished grandchildren Aar-on J. Smith, 17, Stephanie R. Gregory, 15, Christopher R. Smith, 14, Seth T. Gregory, 12, and Garrett D. Gregory, 10; sistesr, Madge Wilhelm of Roseville, Cliffie Kendrick of Russelville, Ark.; and many loved nieces and nephews.

Services will be at noon, Friday, April 1, at  Johnson Funeral Home.

A private family interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery following the service.
