Audrey A. Lefferts

Audrey A. Lefferts died at home, in her sleep, on Jan. 25, 2003.

Audrey was born in New Jersey on June 17, 1936, and moved with her family to San Martin in 1972.

During their school days, Audrey was active in the lives of her children, serving as a chaperone to many marching band events and supporting their other extracurricular activities.

After the death of her husband in the 1986, she worked for the Gilroy Dispatch and later the Morgan Hill Times. She enjoyed her work editing and arranging newspaper advertisements until health concerns caused her early retirement in 1998.

She is survived by her children Julie, Scott, Jeff, Laura and Jeremy; grandchildren, Liam, Brendan and Laurel; brothers Jim, Frank, Larry and Dennis; and many nieces and nephews.

Her family, neighbors and friends will miss her very much.

A graveside memorial took place Feb. 22 at Mount Hope Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of  Johnson Funeral Home.

James Peterson

James Peterson, 38, died Feb. 22, 2003, in Gilroy following a lengthy illness. He was a native of Morgan Hill where he was raised. He attended local schools, moving to Gilroy nine years ago.

He is survived by his wife, Juanita C. Peterson of Gilroy; son James Peterson Jr. of Gilroy; mother Evelyn C. Peterson of Morgan Hill; brother and his wife Scott and Lisa Peterson of Gilroy; brother Todd Peterson of Gilroy; mother-in-law Catherine Cruz of Gilroy; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the brother-in-law to George Cruz Jr. of Morgan Hill, Margaret Cruz of Merced, Abbey Villarreal of Gilroy, Ricky and Rhene Cruz of Gilroy and nephew of Nick Mouton of San Jose.

Funeral Mass was this morning, Feb. 25, at St. Mary Church in Gilroy followed by burial at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park.

Services were under the direction of Habing Family Funeral Home.

Jose R. Quintanar

Jose R. “Papa Che Che” Quintanar, 77, died Feb. 22, 2003, in Gilroy following a lengthy illness. He was a native of San Pablo Toleman, Queretaro, Mexico.

Mr. Quintanar moved to Gilroy from Harlingen,  Texas, in 1968. He worked for many years at Steakmate Mushrooms. He loved baseball and was an avid Giants fan. Mr. Quintanar was a member of the Church of God.

Mr. Quintanar is survived by his children and their spouses Eugenio Quintanar of Mexico City, Ramon and Vicky Quintanar of Los Banos, Jose Jr. and Nelda Quintanar of Gilroy, Robert and Alicia Quintanar of Los Banos, Dora and Tomas Andrade of Gilroy and Pete Quintanar of Gilroy; grandchildren Ramon Quintanar Jr., Richard Quintanar, Jose Quintanar III, Irma Quintanar, Crystal Quintanar, Raul Quintanar, Claudia Quintanar, Angelica Quintanar, Tomas Andrade III, Carlos Andrade, Vanessa Andrade, Bianca Andrade, Stephanie Quintanar, Jessica Quintanar, Melissa “Pica” Quintanar, Jorge Quintanar, Marisol Calderon, Henry Calderon Jr. and Eric Calderon; many brothers and sister in Mexico as well as brothers Juan Quintanar and Emiterio Quintanar of Gilroy; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wif, Eva Quintanar; daughter Olga Calderon; and son Raul “Male” Quintanar.

Vigil Service will be at 6:30 tonight, Feb. 25, at Habing Family Funeral Home in Gilroy. Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home followed by burial at St. Marys Cemetery, Gilroy.

Victor Duane Reisig

Victor Duane Reisig, 72, of Sarasota, Fla., died Jan. 26, 2003. He was born on Dec. 22, 1930, in Jackson, Mich. He lived in Gilroy with his wife, Beth, and their five children from 1965-80.

He later lived in Morgan Hill and Santa Cruz before moving to Sarasota in 1991 where he remarried and retired as an investor. Victor graduated from Michigan State University and was a devoted member in both the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Center for Positive Living.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara; daughters Dawn Gorman of Ojai and Vicki Sheppard of Watsonville; stepson Blake Bouknight of Sarasota, and sons Kurt of Folsom, Eric of Rocklin, and Jeff of Sacramento; sisters Helen Eck of Santa Barbara, and Emma J. Coffey of Palos Verdes; a brother Donald of Lansing, Mich.; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

A private memorial service has been held.

Virginia Helen Hansen

Virginia Helen Hansen, 61, of Morgan Hill, died Friday, April 8, 2005, at her home surrounded by loved ones.

Virginia (Ginny) grew up in the Lansing area where she met and married Bryce Hansen in 1961. They lived in many Michigan cities (Grand Rapids, Battle Creek, Elk Rapids and Holland) before moving to San Jose in 1980.

Ginny loved her family. She was a wonderful mother and she raised her children with great love and compassion. She was always there to catch you when you fell, encouraging your dreams, inspiring your happiness and holding your hand, helping you through it all. She enjoyed traveling to visit family and always felt at home whenever she was. Her best times were when her children and grandchildren were by her side.

After her diagnosis with breast cancer in 1999 she had a “can-do” spirit and wasn’t going to let it beat her. Through it all she was always willing to help anyone in need.

Ginny was one of the founding owners of CCS (Corporate & Commercial Services) in San Jose for 12 years before successfully selling the business. She continued a leadership role in the firm until December of last year.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Kathy and Bill Friedmann; son and daughter-in-law Bryan and Ellen Hansen; son and daughter-in-law Russell and Monica Hansen; granddaughters Ashley Friedmann, Kayla Hansen, Jillian VanVonderen; grandsons, Nick Friedmann, Bryce Hansen, Jacob Hansen, Matthew Friedmann and wife Julie Friedmann, Griffin VanVonderen, Angel Gonzalez; great-grandson Austin Friedmann; mother, Luella Wahl; brother, and sister-in-law Bill and Mary Wahl.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bryce Hansen, and father George Wahl.

Services will be held at a later date, in lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be sent to Hospice of the Valley or the Breast Cancer Foundation.

Judith Andrade

Judith Andrade died April 23, 2005.

Mrs. Andrade was born Aug. 16, 1953, in England to an American soldier and an English woman. She resided off Monterey Highway, just north of Morgan Hill and enjoyed working as a caterer.

She embodied love of family and friends as only she could. All who knew her, loved and respected her as she loved and respected them. She was comforted by all her family and friends. during her last hour. Judy never met a person she could not love, and a person who could not love her.

She is survived by her husband Mike (Bob); loving daughters Julie, Lisa, Stacey, Nicole, Destinee and honorable mention Sherry Downs; sons Robert and Danny; grandchildren Jenna, Jacob, Brittany, Racquel, Lil Robert, Anastasia Victoria, Richard, Nicholas, Nathan, Issac and Vanessa; mother Joan Burns; siblings Jack, Jenny, Jeff, Jill, Janet, James, Joe and Tammy; and in-laws Gina, Victoria, Angelo and Charles.

Services were under the direction of Chapel of Flowers in San Jose.

Dionicio E. Rodriguez

Dionicio E. Rodriguez died April 23, 2005, after a short illness at Saint Louise Hospital, Gilroy. He was 78.

A native of Jalisco, Mexico, Mr. Rodriguez moved to Gilroy in the 1970s and worked as a pear orchard foreman for many years.

He is the loving husband of 25 years to Tomasa Rodriguez of Gilroy; loving father of Miguel and his wife Sandra Rodriguez of Morgan Hill, Dionicio Rodriguez Jr. of Los Angeles, and David Rodriguez of Gilroy; and grandfather of Isaac James Rodriguez and Julian Miguel Rodriguez, both of Gilroy.

He was preceded in death by his son Alfredo Rodriguez.

Services took place Friday, April 29, at the Full Gospel Tabernacle Church. Burial followed at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park.

Arrangements were under the direction of Habing Family Funeral Home, Gilroy.
