Natividad Montaño Acosto
Natividad Montaño Acosta nacío el 28 de Diciembre 1929 en San Martin Hildalgo, Jalisco, Mexico. Sus padres eran Manuel Montaño y Maria Ramirez. Nati era la menor de 12 hijos. Nati tuvo 5 hermanas y 6 hermanos.
A los siete años murio la mama de Nati. Desde la edad de 7 años Nati tuvo el cargo del hogar de su papa. Ella cocinaba, lavababa, planchaba, y limpiaba para sus hermanos, tios, y papa. Las personas que la conocieron decian que le tenian lastima, porque cuando lavababa la ropa en el rio hasta le sangraban sus manos y tenia que lavar la ropa de nuevo por las manchas de sangre.
A los 21 años de edad, Nati se caso con Jose Concepcion Acosta Camacho tambien de San Martin Hildalgo. En menos de un año de casarse la pareja se vieron al “Norte”. El Viaje a Estados Unidos no fue facil para Nati, porque “la Migra” la bajo varias veces de los camiones que viajaba. Concepcion paso la primera vez dejando a Nati en Tijuana. Cada mañana iba a misa y le pedia a Dios que la dejara pasar la frontera. Su tia de Nati de decia que le rezara a las animas Americans porque las animas Mexicans no habian podido cruzar la frontera. El 4 de julio si pudo cruzar la frontera sola. Y se vino hasta Vacaville sola. Decia que Dios la trajo.
Nati y Conce han vivido en Winters desde que llego en 1952. Han sido miembros de la parroquia de San Antoñio desde antes que construyeran esta igelesia.
Nati y Conce tuvieron 3 hijos, Eva, Raquel, y Abel. Los nietos “su coranzoncitos” de Nati y Conce incluyen Isaac, Kristina, Ileana, Victoria, Ruben, Rebeca, y Ruthi.
Nati tenia una tremenda fe en Dios y la Virgen De Guadalupe. Ella cada dia demonstraba su fe en la manera que no solamente cuidaba sus hijos y nietos (sus corazoncitos) pero tambien se presentaba su amor maternal a muchas otras personas. Ella vivia su fe. No se quejaba de sus enfermedades, si no, le daba gracias a Dios por todo lo que le habia dado.
Robert Norman Jensen died Nov. 12 at his Esparto residence. He was 59.
A private family memorial will be scheduled at a later date. Born on Aug. 5, 1947, in St. Paul, Minn., to Lloyd and Edith (Hansen) Jensen, he graduated in 1965 from North Bend High School, in North Bend, Ore.
After high school, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served in Vietnam from 1966 until his honorable discharge in 1967. He was a member of the U.S. Air Force Reserves for 23 years, and was employed by Gemini Air Cargo for eight years after his retirement from the military. He was a Yolo County resident for the past five years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Jensen, in 2003.
He is survived by his mother, Edith Jensen of Boise, Idaho; his sister, Elaine Peavey and her husband Alfred of Boise, Idaho; his brother, Dennis Jensen and his wife Cathy of North Bend Ore.; two nieces, Marci Jensen of North Bend and Kaelyn Jensen of Bend, Ore.; two nephews, Brian Jensen of Portland Ore., and Dave Jensen of La Grande, Ore.; as well as seven great-nieces and –nephews.

Randall Owen Swink, Jr. (Randy), passed away on Nov. 22, 2005, at Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa, after a long battle with diabetes. Born on March 12, 1961, in Woodland, he was 44 years old.
Randy grew up in Winters. He loved people, children, dogs, fishing and spending time with his beloved daughter, Ashleigh, of whom he was extremely proud. Randy was a wonderful son, brother, father and friend.
Randy is survived by his parents, Randall and Barbara Swink, Sr., of Winters; children Randall Swink, III, of Minnesota, Kira Taute, of Washington, and Ashleigh Swink, of Winters; brother Phillip Swink, and his wife, Sue, of Winters; sister Kimberly Galabasa, and her husband, Celestino, and their children Klarice, Celestino and Beau Galabasa, all of Winters. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was greatly loved and will be deeply missed.
Services were held on Tuesday, Nov. 29, at the Winters Cemetery.

Isaac H. Macias passed away in Davis. He was 66 years old. He was born on July 8, 1939 in Jilotlan, Jalisco, Mexico, and went to elementary school in Mexico.
He was a farm laborer and an employee of Mariani Nut Company. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, in Winters, and a 28 year resident of Yolo County.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Maria A. Macias, of Woodland; also 8 stepchildren; uncle and great uncle and many nieces and nephews; sister Trinity Macias and brother, Salvador Macias. He had 19 grandchilren and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Patricia (Mendoza) Macias and his sister, Paubla Rodarte.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday, Dec. 2, at 1 p.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Father Chuck will officiate. A vigil service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 1, at 7 p.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Burial will be held at the Winters Cemetery.
McNary’s Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
Carroll S. (Sarshel) Culton, Jr., passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005, in Sacramento, after a short bout with acute myelocytic leukemia. Born on May 23, 1922, he was 83 years old.
A third generation Californian, he was the oldest child of Carroll S. Culton, Sr. and Mary Bernice (Edwards) Culton. He was raised in Winters, Yolo County and lived in California all his life, the last 53 years in Sacramento. He graduated from Winters High School in 1940, and attended Sacramento City College. During World War II, he served as a civilian employee at Mather AFB, rigging and outfitting the B-25 bombers that participated in the famous Gen. Jimmy Doolittle raid. Later he worked in the hospital helping recovering veterans with occupational therapy. He was awarded a Civilian Service Medal. After the war, he returned to college, graduating from San Diego State. He taught in California schools for 31 years, 26 as a teacher in the Sacramento City Unified School District. He taught adult night school for 16 years. He was an artist, floral designer, and an avid collector of antiques. He was responsible for the design and construction of several prize-winning floats entered in Sacramento’s Camellia Parades on behalf of the school where he taught. He spent countless hours creating works of art in needlepoint. In his retirement years, he became very involved in national political issues, corresponding with and supporting several political action committees and associations. He lovingly served the Lord both in his public life as a teacher and in his private life among his family and friends. He wad dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Bertha Chadwick Culton; sister Mary Keep; children, Paul, Steven, Deborah (Culton) Miller, and Robert; grandchildren, Patrick Murray, Rebekah O’Neill, Elisabeth Culton, Stacey Petteys, Stephanie Culton, Steven Culton, Jr., Molly Culton, Corey Culton, Braxton Miller, Katherine Miller, Andrea Austin, Whitney Austin,Daniel Austin, Michael Culton, Amanda Culton and Joshua Culton; great-grandchildren, Bradly O’Neill, Jordan Petteys and Jack Petteys.
Viewing was held on Monday, Nov. 21. Private interment was held on Tuesday, Nov. 22, at Winters Cemetery. Following interment, friends were invited to attend a memorial service at Pioneer Presbyterian Church, in Winters.
Remembrances may be made in his name to Pioneer Presbyterian Church.
James Raymond Martino of Chico died Sunday, November 13 at age 86.
Mr. Martino was born December 22, 1918 in Dixon. He had been a Yolo County resident for 84 years. He graduated from Dixon High School and was a technical sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked as a Yolo County road superintendent for 27 years. He was a member of the Elks Club, Winters Chamber of Commerce, Winters Councilman and a member of the Catholic Church.
Survivors include Mr. Martino’s wife of 63 years, Nadine Martino of Chico; his daughter, Vickie Garrison and her husband Doug of Chico; his grandchildren, Brian Carrion and his wife Brenda of Corona, Tammy Parker of Chico and Melissa Phillips and her husband Dustin of Woodland; six great-grandchildren; and his sister Mary Helms and her husband Donald of Dixon. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph Martino and Henry Martino.
The family requests memorials in Mr. Martino’s name be directed to American Diabetes Association, 2720 Gateway Oaks Drive, Suite 110, Sacramento, 95833.
A vigil was held on Thursday, November 17 at McNary’s Chapel in Woodland. A graveside service followed on Friday, November 18 at Monument Hill Memorial Park. McNary’s Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Maria De Jesus “Mom” Rosales passed away on Nov. 6, 2005 in Teocaltiche, Jalisco, Mexico. A Winters resident for 52 years, she was 79 years old.
Mrs. Rosales was born on Feb. 24, 1926, in Teocaltiche, Jalisco, Mexico, and attended school in Mexico. She worked as both a farm laborer and a housewife. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Winters. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved her family.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Balbino Rosales, of Winters; daughters Eusabia and her husband, Eligio, of Winters, Irene and her husband Mere, of Visalia, Martha and her husband, Poncho, of Arbuckle, and Berta, of Winters; sons Benjamin and his wife, Sandy, Manuel and his wife, Denise, and Alfredo and his wife, Mindy, all of Winters, and Gilberto, of Dixon; sister Candida, of Mexico and brother Claudio, of Mexico. She had 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, including Dolores, Yolanda, Candida, Erika, Cindy, Ben, Jr., Tabitha, Rosa, Joseph, Alicia, Little Manuel, Breanna, Lisa, Little Freddie, Christabel, Ponchito, Jesse and Gilberto, Jr.; also by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Tranquilina; sister Mercedes, and brother, Jose.
A Rosary will be said on Monday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church.
Burial will be at the Winters Cemetery.
Mr. Jose Carlos Gomez passed away on Christmas Day at Woodland Memorial Hospital at the age of 71. He was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico on November 1, 1934 to Zacarias and Guadalupe (Barron) Gomez who have preceded him in death.
A resident of Yolo County for the past 25 years, Mr. Gomez worked in the farming community for 38 years as a laborer and recently retired. He was very dedicated to his family and loved nothing more than to spend time at home with his extended family, surrounded by those he loved. Holidays with his family were an important part of his life.
Surviving Jose is his wife of 50 years, Isabel Gomez of Winters, and daughters, Maria I. Gutierrez and husband Antonio, Lucila Gomez and Graciela Cruz and husband Mario, all of Winters, and Cecilia Loza and husband Asbdon of Woodland, and his son Gabriel Gomez and wife Julien of West Sacramento. Also surviving is a stepdaughter, Yolanda Duran and spouse Valentin, and stepsons, Jaime Quintero and Salvador Quintero and wife Rosa, all of Sacramento. Sisters Josefina and Carmen of Guadalajara survive Jose as well. Seventeen grandchildren, Yesenia, Jessica, Marco A., Adrian, Juan C., Ana, Adriana, Anthony, Annalicia, Daniel, Manuel, Ramiro, Zac, Rachel, Mason, Isabella and Elizabeth and one great-grandchild survive. Jose was preceded in death by his brother Jesus.
A rosary was held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Winters on Thursday, December 29, 2005 and a mass was held the following day at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with the internment following the mass at Monument Hill Memorial Park in Woodland.
