Daniel Anthony Larice

Daniel Anthony Larice died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, at his home in Morgan Hill. The cause was a brain tumor that refused to leave him alone. He was 46.

Danny was born Jan. 24, 1956, at Watsonville Hospital to Novello and Lina Larice, who currently live in Watsonville. The Larices moved to San Carlos and Dan spent his wonder years growing up on Emerald Avenue, attending  White Oaks Grammar School, Brittan Acres Elementary School, Tierra Linda Middle School and San Carlos High School, where he graduated in 1974. After two years at the College of San Mateo, Dan worked for his Uncle Tony at Screentronics Print Shop in Redwood City. On Sept. 13, 1980, he married Teri Garcia at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Watsonville.

Also in 1980, Dan and Teri moved to Sacramento and Dan continued his education at California State University, Sacramento, where he graduated in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Finance. The following year, he accepted a position at Rolm Corp. and the couple relocated to Santa Clara. When IBM acquired Rolm, Dan continued to work for IBM, accepting positions of increasing responsibility until he left in 2001. The couple and their growing family also moved to Morgan Hill in 1992, where they now reside. Danny took a tremendous amount of pride in his work accomplishments and provided for his family well.

Danny was a talented craftsman who could build a desk, create an architectural drawing or fix a sprinkler with equal skill. He loved music and he could play an air guitar like a ringin’ a bell. He was one of the finest hearts players ever to pick up a deck of cards. Dan also was a gifted athlete who enjoyed running, biking, playing baseball, basketball, tennis, softball, golf, ping-pong, horseshoes and bocce throughout his life. He transferred his knowledge of baseball to the youth of Morgan Hill - including his sons - as a dedicated manager and coach at various levels of Pony baseball. He loved the San Francisco Giants.

Dan is survived by his wife, Teri; sons Anthony, Nick and Cris; parents Novello and Lina; sister Marie, her husband Bob Bertone, and their two children Bryan and Ali; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives through marriage. He is further survived by many loving and very sad friends.

A remembrance will be held Saturday, Dec. 21, at 2 p.m. at the Morgan Hill Grange, 40 E. 4th Street.

In lieu of flowers, a family college fund has been established. Contributions to the Dan Larice College Fund are welcome.

We would like to thank the Hospice of the Valley and family and friends for their overwhelming support and love.
