Edward J. Wallis, Foreman
Edward J. Wallis, 67, of Visalia died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001. He was a foreman.
Edward J. Wallis was born to David and Evie Wallis on Dec. 8, 1933, in Girard, Texas. He was married to Lela Wallis. He was best known for being a very loving husband and father. He was preceded in death by his father, David Wallis, and his sister, Carol Sue Corwin. Edward was in the army from 1957 to 1962.
Survivors include his wife, Lela Wallis of Visalia; his mother, Evie Wallis of Visalia; a son, Mark Wallis of Visalia and a daughter, Gene Wallis of Visalia.
Visitation 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Hadley Funeral Chapel.
Memorial service 10 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel.
Interment will be at Visalia District Cemetery.
Ben Sandoval, Teacher/administrator
Ben Sandoval, 59, of Visalia died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001. He was a teacher and administrator.
He was born in Lake Arthur, N.M., on Aug. 23, 1941.
Survivors include his wife, Viola "Vye" Sandoval of Visalia; one son, Benny Sandoval of Visalia; one daughter, Manuela "Mani" of Visalia; father, Daniel Sandoval Sr. of Goshen; five brothers, Luis Sandoval of Visalia, Martin Sandoval of Dinuba, Daniel Sandoval Jr. of Modesto, Armando Sandoval of Goshen and George Sandoval of Visalia; 10 sisters, Maria Jimenez of Goshen, Paula Gonzales of Visalia, Ynocencia "Sandy" Anaya of Alaska, Amelia "Molly" Hernandez of Visalia, Carol Sanchez of Goshen, Margie Flores of Visalia, Eloise Hernandez of Hanford, Raquel Sandoval-Ochoa of Visalia, Juanita Matta of Visalia and Rosa Montalvo of Goshen; four grandchildren, Joey Sandoval, Kayla Maryn Rodriguez, Aubrey Langer and Drew Langer, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Manuela R. Sandoval, one sister, Anita Escarsega and two brothers, Abran Sandoval and Jesse Sandoval.
Visitation 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Miller Memorial Chapel, Visalia. Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Visalia.

Myrtle Robertson, Retired nurse
Myrtle Marie Robertson, 78, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, after a lengthy illness. She was born in Greene County, Ark., on Feb. 4, 1922, to James Robert and Mary Ann Standley. She was retired from nursing after 25 years.
She was a devout Christian who was dedicated to her children. She attended church at Full Gospel Temple Church in Farmersville. She will be missed tremendously. Her passing leaves a deep void in all our lives for she loved her family largely and unconditionally, always giving of herself freely and unselfishly. We were blessed having had this priceless gift from God and will cherish her memories forever.
Myrtle was preceded in death by three brothers, one sister, and her son, Winston Robertson. She is survived by two sons, Michael Robertson of Paragould, Ark., and Gaylon Robertson of Oklahoma City, Okla.; four daughters, Gloria Morrill of Sherwood, Ark., Carolyn Flores of Farmersville, Donna Taylor of Exeter and Waynetta Robertson of Visalia. Myrtle was blessed with 18 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Myrtle is also survived by her brother, Jim, of Cardwell, Mo.; her sister, Pauline of Calera, Okla., as well as many nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Hadley Funeral Chapel, 410 W. Center Ave., Visalia. A celebration of Myrtle's life will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with burial following at Exeter District Cemetery.
Jerry Porchia, Detailer
TULARE -- Jerry Porchia, 41, of Tulare died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000. He was a detailer for Wade's Car Wash.
A memorial service will be 1 p.m. today at New Faith Temple Church of Deliverance, Tulare. Arrangements are by Hamilton Peers Lorentzen Funeral Service, Tulare.
Dennis Norton, Retired
EXETER -- Dennis J. Norton, 52, of Exeter died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001. He was retired.
No services are planned. Arrangements are by Evans-Miller Exeter Chapel.
Patricia 'Pat' Ann Stevens, Teacher
Patricia "Pat" Ann Stevens, 69, of Visalia died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001. She was a teacher.
Pat was born in Pittsburg, Kan., on March 29, 1931, to Edwin and Ruby Stevens and attended schools in Joplin, Mo. She married Bob Stephens in Junction City, Kan., on Feb. 18, 1950. She worked for Visalia Unified School District migrant programs for 27 years. She also worked with the Native Americans Indian Program. Pat was a PTA Honorary Life Member. She taught Confraternity of Christian Doctrine for more than 30 years and received the Pius X Medal, an award given by Pope John Paul II. She was a Gold Star Mother, and was a graduate of College of the Sequoias, receiving her AA in social studies.
Pat is survived by her sons, John Stevens, Robert Stevens, Tom Stevens, Danny Stevens and Joe Stevens; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation is noon to 6 p.m. today at Miller Memorial Chapel, Visalia. Recitation of the rosary will be 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 9 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will be at Visalia District Cemetery.

William Lee Machado, Truck driver
PORTERVILLE -- Bill Machado, 62, of Porterville, formerly of Visalia died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2000. He was a truck driver.
Survivors include former wife Sharon Machado of Visalia; daughter, Theresa Machado of Woodlake; son, John Machado of Nevada; stepdaughter, Christine Peck of Visalia; stepson, Randy Grimsley of Oregon; 16 grandchildren; numerous relatives. Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Deedie Clayton, and sister, Geri Youngblood.
He always lived life to the fullest, surrounding himself with the ones he loved, who included family, friends and his grandchildren, the ones who lived here and far away. He always made us laugh and had a nickname for everyone. He will be truly missed.
A celebration of Bill's life will be 1 p.m. Friday at Visalia District Cemetery.
Guadalupe Guzman, Farm worker
FARMERSVILLE -- Guadalupe Guzman, 44, of Farmersville died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001. He was a farm worker.
Visitation and services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Free Holiness Calvary Church, Farmersville. Arrangements are by Abbey Funeral Services, Fresno.
Robin Freeman-Mayes, Construction maintenance
Robin Lee Freeman-Mayes, 36, of Visalia died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001.
She was born in Tulare on June 22, 1964. She was a self-employed construction-maintenance person.
She was preceded in death by her beloved grandpa, Bill Freeman.
Survivors include Jim Mayes of Visalia; a son, Kevin James Mayes of Visalia; a daughter, Kaila Leighann Mayes of Visalia; a stepson, James Lee Mayes of Visalia; her mother, Betty Freeman of Tulare; her father, Billy Freeman of Tulare; her grandmother, Shorty Freeman of Tulare; three brothers, Billy Freeman II of Tulare, Paul Freeman of Tulare and Nicholas Freeman of Tulare; and two sisters, Sharon Rippee of Kansas and Tina Rodriguez of Fresno.
She was known as "Aunt Robin" to many nieces and nephews, and she was very close to her cousin Melanie Mendes of Tulare.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Miller's Tulare Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Tulare District Cemetery.

with memorial service 11 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church, 120 N. Gale Hill, Lindsay.

LINDSAY -- Antonio G. Garcia, 42, of Lindsay died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001. He was a farm laborer.
Visitation will be 1-6 p.m. Wednesday at Webb-Sanders Funeral Home, Lindsay.
Rosary will be 6 p.m. Wednesday at Webb-Sanders Funeral Home.
Mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Burial will be in Municipio De Acambaro.
