Mildred Christina Humbarger

Retired secretary

LINDSAY -- Mildred Christina Humbarger, 95, of Lindsay died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at Sierra View District Hospital in Porterville. She was a retired secretary.
She was born Oct. 10, 1905 in Lewistown, Mont. She married Leslie F. Humbarger in 1926 in Oakland. He died Nov. 3, 1977. She was a resident of Lindsay for 65 years. A retired secretary, she had been employed by the Lindsay Unified School District and worked for about 20 years for the  Jefferson Elementary School in Lindsay. She was a member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary Post 128, St. James Episcopal Church in Lindsay and formerly a member of Lindsay PTA. She was a graduate of Tulare Union High School in 1923.

Survivors include one son, Jack Humbarger of Lindsay; one daughter, Carol Hoyt of Los Banos; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. today at Webb-Sanders Funeral Home, Lindsay. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lindsay-Strathmore Cemetery with the Rev. Richard Adamson officiating.

Cloetta Kennedy

Cloetta Kennedy, beloved wife, mother and friend to all who knew her, died Monday, April 16, 2001.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Kennedy, sons and daughters Terry and Doc Wright, Sherry Peterson, Rick and Christine Kirvan, Bob Kennedy, John Kennedy, Richard Kennedy, Jeff and Marylou Kennedy; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was our inspiration, direction and support throughout her life, and she will be dearly missed. The caring, concern and love she shared changed those she touched immensely.

We celebrate her life and invite you to join us for graveside services at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Visalia District Cemetery. Arrangements are by Miller Memorial Chapel, Visalia.

Otis B. Lowrance

Retired maintenance

DINUBA -- Otis B. Lowrance, 90, of Dinuba died Friday, April 13, 2001. He was retired in maintenance at Poppy Foods.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Smith Mountain Cemetery. Arrangements are by Dopkins Funeral Chapel, Dinuba.

Lucille E. Badgley
Manicurist

Lucille E. Badgley, 81, of Visalia passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001, in Visalia.

Lucille was born in Clearfield, Iowa, on March 4, 1919, to Alvin and Margaret Cowell. She was raised and educated in Clearfield, graduating from Clearfield High School in 1936. She attended Iowa Normal School and taught in Iowa in a one-room schoolhouse for two years. She then attended cosmetology school where she became a manicurist. She married Merle "Bud" Badgley in Newton, Iowa, in 1940. The couple moved to Los Angeles in 1941, and then moved to Visalia in 1957. Mr. Harry's Beauty Shop employed her as a manicurist, and she retired in 1984. Mr. Badgley preceded her in death in 1994. She was a member of the Visalia Elks Lodge No. 1298. Lucille enjoyed golf and traveling in their recreational vehicle.

Survivors include her children, Robert Badgley of Visalia and David Badgley of Encinitas; five grandchildren, Carolyn Dukes of Fresno, Michael Badgley of Burbank, Jennifer Badgley of Encinitas, Lisa Badgley of Encinitas and Daniel Badgley of Encinitas; two great-grandchildren, Joshua Badgley of Burbank and Connor Dukes of Fresno.

Friends may call from 1-3 p.m. Sunday at Miller Memorial Chapel, 1120 W. Goshen Ave., Visalia. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the chapel. Burial will be at Visalia District Cemetery.

Remembrances may be made to Linwood Gardens Convalescent Hospital Activity Fund, c/o James Person, 4444 W. Meadow Lane, Visalia, CA 93277.

Paul Eckblad

Piano player

SAN RAMON -- Paul Burton Eckblad, 79, of San Ramon, formerly of Woodlake, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001. He was a piano player.

Services will be private. Arrangements are by Wilson Family Funeral Chapel, Livermore.

James Carl Gibson

FARMERSVILLE -- James Gibson, 48, of Farmersville passed away on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001. James was born on May 11, 1952, to Jessie Ray and Lois Gibson.

James has had a lifelong love of old cars; he even had several cars that he restored before he was 16. James loved muscle cars, and he especially liked to go to antique car shows. James was a "Shade Tree" mechanic, friends and neighbors would bring their cars to him for repairs. Jim loved to "tinker" with household electronics as well. On any given day he could be found in the garage repairing a VCR or some other electronic device.

On June 20, 1992, James married his wife, Sharon. When the two met, it was love at first sight. Yet, it took several years for the couple to wed.

James is survived by his wife, Sharon; his sons, James Gibson Jr. of Farmersville, Jeremy Gibson of Farmersville, Christopher Gibson of Ivanhoe, Anthony Trujillo of Farmersville, John Methvin of Farmersville and Robert Methvin of Santa Maria. James is also survived by his brothers, Johnny Ray Gibson of Denton,  Texas, William Clifford of Sildam, Ariz., and Wallace Pearson of Porterville; his sisters, Nonnie Shadrick of Fayettville, Ariz., and LaRue Miley of Porterville; his uncle, Jay Crawford of Farmersville; two cousins that he loved like brothers, Doug Crawford of Ivanhoe and Danny Crawford of Visalia.

A celebration of James' life will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Front Line Ministry Church, 27450 Road 148, Visalia. Arrangements are by Hadley Funeral Chapel, Visalia.

Troy Jones

Truck driver

TIPTON -- Troy Lee Jones, 79, of Tipton died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001. He was a truck driver.

Visitation will be noon to 8 p.m. Sunday and noon to 8 p.m. Monday at Hamilton Peers Lorentzen Funeral Chapel, Tulare. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Tipton-Pixley District Cemetery, Tipton.

Donald 'Don' L. Pyle
ADT Instructor

Don Pyle, 59, of Visalia passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001, in Visalia.

Don was born on April 13, 1941, in Exeter to Clem and Nellie Pyle. Don loved sports his whole life and has been very active with Visalia Little League as well as being an active booster of the Redwood High School Rangers football team.

Growing up, Don loved the mountains. He especially loved the jobs that he had working in the mountains around Johnsondale. His work in Johnsondale led him to find the love of his life, Dianne Paxton. After dating for some time, the couple married and have lived in love's embrace for nearly 39 years.

Don and Dianne had two sons, Shawn and Darrel. Don has lived in Tulare County most of his life. Don worked for ADT as an instructor for truck drivers. Don also worked as a deputy for the Tulare County Sheriff's Department for more than 10 years and for five of those years as a bailiff in the Tulare County Superior Court in Visalia.

Don is survived by his wife, Dianne Pyle of Visalia; his sons, Shawn and Darrel Pyle of Visalia; and his brothers, Jim Pyle of Exeter and Rick Pyle of Visalia. Don is also survived by his five grandchildren.

Don's life will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Monday at Hadley Funeral Chapel, 410 W. Center Ave., Visalia. Those wishing to make contributions in Don's memory may do so to the American Cancer Society, 211 N. Encina St., Visalia, CA 93291.

Jacqueline 'Jacque' Patricia Smyth

Retired banker

EUREKA -- Jacqueline "Jacque" Patricia Smyth, 69, died after a short illness from ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) at her home in Eureka on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001.

She was born on Dec. 13, 1931, in Heston, Middlesex, England, where she was active in amateur theater and worked for the Social Security Administration. She immigrated to Canada in 1952, where she worked for the Canadian Broadcasting Company and the Piccadilly Club. She met her husband, Alan, at the club and was married in 1957. They had two children, a daughter in 1961, and a son in 1963 and immigrated to the United States in 1964. She held positions with banking institutions in Camarillo, Visalia, Riverbank, Redding and lastly with Humboldt Bank, Eureka, from which she retired in 1996.

She enjoyed reading, crocheting and her greatest joy in life was to make other people laugh. She was a very special lady and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Alan; her son, Grant Smyth of Camarillo; her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Henry  Johnson and her grandson, Carter, all of Visalia.

Friends are invited to attend memorial services at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Humboldt Masonic Lodge located at 517 G St., in Eureka, under the auspices of Camellia Chapter No. 63, Order of the Eastern Star. Arrangements are by Goble's Chapel, Fortuna.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to Hospice of Humboldt, 2010 Myrtle Ave., Eureka, CA 95501 or the ALS Association, 27001 Agoura Road, Suite 150, Calabasas Hills, CA 91301-5104 would be appreciated.
