RIALTO -- Velma Williams, of Rialto died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001. She was a homemaker.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hamilton Peers Lorentzen Funeral Chapel, Tulare. Interment will be at Tulare District Cemetery.

Robert Beeman

Custodian
Robert Beeman, 82, of Visalia died Monday, April 30, 2001. He was a custodian for  Johnson and Johnson.
Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Heritage Funeral Services, Visalia. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Visalia District Cemetery.

Kathleen Miller-Deissler

Kathleen Miller-Deissler, 49, of Visalia died Friday, May 4, 2001.
Kathleen was born on March 24, 1952, in Visalia to Wesley and Gretchen Miller and was raised on her family ranch in Ivanhoe along with her sister, Shirley. She attended Ivanhoe Elementary School and graduated from Redwood High School. She was Junior Miss runner up in her teens. Kathleen went to the University of the Pacific, where she received her bachelor of arts degree and graduated cum laude. While attending UOP she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority, where she served as president.

She returned to Visalia and worked for Pro-Ag Farm Management as the office manager. She met her husband, Walter T. Deissler, in September 1982, and they were married January 8, 1983, and shared 18 plus loving years. Very active in BPW, she became president in 1983 then moved on to become treasurer of the Tulare County Symphony. In 1998, she and her husband helped create the Ivanhoe Youth Center and she started the Ivanhoe Christmas Gift Shop Program, which will be renamed Kathleen's Christmas Store. She was an active member of the Visalia First Presbyterian Church and a sister in PEO.

She leaves behind her best friend and husband, Walter T. Deissler; her parents, Wesley and Gretchen Miller of Ivanhoe; her sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Al Masterson of Seal Beach; a niece and nephew, Michelle and David Masterson; and Marion L. Deissler, her husband's mother, and family.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Visalia First Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are by Hadley Funeral Chapel, Visalia.

Memorials gifts can be given to the Kathleen Miller-Deissler Ivanhoe Youth Center Endowment Fund in care of the Rev. Bob Felts, Ivanhoe Youth Center, P.O. Box 416, Ivanhoe, CA 93235.

Kathleen Miller-Deissler, 49, of Visalia died Friday, May 4, 2001.

Evelyn Gladys Dreo

Homemaker

Evelyn Gladys Dreo, 84, of Elderwood passed away in a Visalia Convalescent Hospital Thursday, May 3, 2001, after a long illness.
She was born Evelyn Gladys Davidson in Visalia Jan. 22, 1917. She married Edmond Dreo in 1933. She worked a few years for Pacific Telephone, then became a full-time homemaker. They moved to Eshom Valley in 1958. After 20 years they left the mountains and settled in Elderwood where they had lived since. She was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Hudson.

Survivors include her husband, Edmond Dreo of Elderwood; three sons, Raymond Dreo of Stevensville, Mont., Harrison Scott Dreo of Torrance, and Jimmy L. (Corky) Dreo of Woodlake; one brother, Lee Davidson of Payette, ID.; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

As Evelyn requested, there will be no services. The family will have a private gathering. Arrangements are by Miller Memorial Chapel, Visalia.

Remembrances may be made to Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, 1343 N. Wishon Ave., Fresno, CA 93728-2348 or donor's favorite charity.

Angel Babie Porras

Infant

Angel Babie Porras, the infant son of Michael J. Porras and Melody Marshall, passed away Thursday, April 26, 2001, in Visalia.
Survivors include his parents, Michael Porras and Melody Marshall of Visalia; a brother, Vincent Porras of Visalia; a sister, Malanie Porras of Visalia; grandparents, Sandra Alderete, Lori Avila, Elaine Martinez, and Lucio Martinez, all of Visalia; great-grandfather Manuel Alderete of Visalia; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Monday at Miller Memorial Chapel, 1120 W. Goshen Ave., in Visalia. Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Monday at Visalia District Cemetery.

Fay Hodges

Public accountant

Fay Hodges, a man known for his love of God and willingness to help others, passed away early Monday morning in Visalia at age 76.
At age 11, he and his family left their farm in Lincoln, Ark., during the Great Depression and moved to Southern California. While serving in the Army during World War II, he was critically wounded in a German artillery attack a month before his 20th birthday. While recovering from his injuries stateside, he met the woman who would become his wife of almost 55 years, an army surgical technician named Noreen. Mr. Hodges moved to Visalia in 1977 while working for SSP, the maker of many of the wind machines that still protect area orange groves. After leaving SSP, he served as the business administrator for the Visalia YMCA before retiring in 1988. He was ordained that year as a pastor by the Palmdale Fellowship Church. He took special delight in performing the weddings and baptisms of family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Noreen; son, Michael; daughter, Deirdre Swanson; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Visalia United Methodist Church. Arrangements are by Hadley Funeral Chapel, Visalia.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Hodges name may be made to the charity of your choice or to the Aldersgate Ministries, in care of the Visalia United Methodist Church.

Virginia Galindo

Homemaker

Virginia Juarez Galindo, 88, of Pixley died Friday, May 4, 2001. She was a homemaker.
Visitation will be noon to 7 p.m. Sunday at Hamilton Peers Lorentzen Funeral Chapel, Tulare. Rosary will be 7 p.m. Sunday at the chapel. Mass will be 2 p.m. Monday at St. Rita's Catholic Church, Tulare. Interment will be at Tulare District Cemetery.

Mary Jane Hutton

Mary Jane Hutton went from life to life everlasting Thursday, May 3, 2001, at the age of 86 years. She was born Nov. 14, 1914, in Kingman, Kan., where she spent most of her first 40 years. Mary Jane Doyle married Deane Hutton March 1, 1941, in Lubbock,  Texas. Shortly thereafter they relocated back to Kingman.

Lillian Neffian

Born in Sazakh, Turkey, on March 28, 1913, to Haig and Guisana Arslanian, Lillian Neffian passed away in Visalia Thursday, May 3, 2001, at the age of 88 years.
She came to the U.S. in 1925 and married Harry Neffian in Chicago, Ill., in 1933. They came to Visalia in 1942. Mr. Neffian passed away July 17, 1977. She managed Lilia's Dress Shop in Visalia for a number of years. She was a member of St. Mary Armenian Apostolic Church in Yettem and Daughters of Vartan.

Survivors include one son, Dr. Hartune Neffian of Visalia; one daughter, Diane Kochian of Fresno; and two grandchildren, Julie Bagoye and Laurie Kochian.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Armenian Apostolic Church with burial following in at the Visalia District Cemetery. Arrangements are by Smith Family Chapel, Exeter.
