APPLE VALLEY -- Mary "Denise" Smith, 43, of Apple Valley died Monday, July 9, 2001, at Santa Maria Hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Abundant Life Center in Tulare. Burial will follow at the Visalia Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lady Family Mortuary of Arroyo Grande.
Nettie E. Mahan

Nettie E. Mahan, 96, of Visalia died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001. She was retired.
Nettie was born on Nov. 23, 1904, in Lutie, Mo., to William and Mary Herd. She married Houston J. Mahan on July 25, 1926. Mr. Mahan preceded her in death in 1985. Nettie operated a Children's Day Care Center from her home for 15 years. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Shauna Matherly.
Survivors include a son, Ernest Mahan and wife, Audra of Visalia; a brother, Ernest Herd and wife, Agnes of San Dimas; a sister, Flossie Blackshear of Pasadena, Texas; two grandchildren, Mike Mahan and wife, Jeanne of Bullhead City, Ariz., and Marilynn Pete and husband, Matt of Bakersfield; three great-grandchildren, Wendy Mahan, Travis Pete and Samantha Pete; one great-great-grandchild, Eric Anthony Adams; many nieces and nephews; best friend, Mildred Jacobs.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Visalia District Cemetery. Arrangements are by Miller Memorial Chapel, Visalia.

DINUBA -- Angelina "Angie" Martinez, 37, of Dinuba died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2001. She worked for Del Monte Packing in Kingsburg.
Prayer service will be 6:30 p.m. today at Dopkins Funeral Chapel, Dinuba. Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at the chapel. Burial will follow at Kingsburg District Cemetery.

HANFORD -- Elizabeth Meras, 31, of Hanford died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2001. She was a certified nurse's assistant for Kaweah Delta Hospital.
Visitation will benoon to 7 p.m. Monday at People's Chapel of Hanford. Rosary will be 6 p.m. Monday at the chapel. Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hanford.
Charles F. Rayner
Retired
Charles F. Rayner, 80, of Visalia died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001. He was retired.
Charles was born on Dec. 20, 1920, to Fredrick and Blanch Rayner in Exeter. He married Virginia Ruth Rice on Aug. 7, 1942, in Reno, Nev.
He was in the United States Army's 3rd Division from 1939 to 1945, serving in World War II. He was a lifelong resident of Tulare County, and was employed by Tulare County in road construction for 30 years. Charles was preceded in death by one brother Edward and his wife of 50 years, Virginia.
Survivors include a daughter, Judy Abrajan of Visalia; a son, Dennis W. Rayner of Washington; a sister, Geraldine Stephens of Missouri; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a stepbrother, Ivan Rice of Ivanhoe.
Visitation will be 2-7 p.m. today at Miller Memorial Chapel, Visalia. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Visalia District Cemetery.

TULARE -- Leona Sayre Stuart, 78, of Tulare died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001. She was a bookkeeper.
Celebration of life service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Hamilton Peers Lorentzen Funeral Chapel, Tulare. Burial will be private at Tulare District Cemetery.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, at Webb-Sanders Funeral Home, Lindsay. Burial will be private.

BELMONT -- Ella Jo (Roy) Kriedel passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2001, at her home in Belmont.
She is survived by her husband, Karl Kriedel of Belmont; her father, Day Roy of Exeter; her sister, Suzi Macaluso of Visalia.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at the Exeter Memorial Building.
