Benjamin Franklin Clore
Benjamin Franklin Clore, age 98 of Visalia, passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2001 in Visalia, California. Benjamin was born of a pioneer family on March 12, 1903 in Visalia and lived here his entire life. He worked for the Bank of America for 45 years, and was an active member of First Baptist Church. Ben married Edna Brock in Visalia and they celebrated their 75th anniversary in June. Rembembrances may be made to First Baptist Church of Visalia.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his eldest son Richard Clore and wife Charlotte of Visalia; a son Douglas Clore and wife Norma of Salmon, Idaho; and daughter Margaret Thatcher and husband Glenn of Visalia. He is survived by six grandchildren; David Clore, Linda Zien, Gregory and Brian Clore, Chris Coker, and Jeff Gibson. He is also survived by eight great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 5, at Miller Memorial Chapel, Visalia. Graveside services will be 9 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6, at the Visalia District Cemetery. Burial will be at Visalia District Cemetery.
Humberto Cota
Humberto Garcia Cota, 60, of Visalia died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001. He was a retired farmer.
Visitation will be 2-7 p.m. Monday at Miller Memorial Chapel, Visalia. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel. Burial will be at Visalia District Cemetery.
Phyllis Jean Garland
TULARE -- Phyllis Jean Garland, 77, of Tulare died Monday, July 30, 2001. She was a homemaker.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Meadows Senior Housing, 3900 W. Tulare Ave., Visalia. Arrangements are by Goble-Miller Funeral Chapel, Tulare.
Juan H. Martinez
Juan H. Martinez, 54, of Visalia died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001. He was a farm laborer.
John was a very loving husband, father and grandfather. His grandchildren were his world! He enjoyed working in his garden and watching his sons play softball.
Survivors include his spouse, Linda Martinez; three sons, John Martinez and Richard Martinez both of Goshen and Michael Martinez of Visalia; stepmother, Frances Martinez; two brothers, Joe Martinez and Angel Martinez both of Goshen; three sisters, Candy Martinez of Visalia and Velma Galindo and Teri Martinez both of Goshen.
John was preceded in death by father Cruz Martinez, mother Ysidra, one brother Danny and one sister Anette.
Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Hadley Funeral Chapel, Visalia. Rosary will be 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Hadley Funeral Chapel. Mass will be 9 a.m. Monday at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Goshen.
Robert Del Real
LINDSAY -- Robert Del Real, 53, of Lindsay died Tuesday, July 31, 2001. He was a machine operator.
Robert was born in Lindsay, he was a machine operator for Console Foods for three years, he was an Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Lou Smedley, Isabel Perezchica and Ruth Gaitan; two brothers, Richard Del Real Sr., and Leo Del Real.
Survivors include a son, Robby Del Real of Oregon; a daughter, Melissa Del Real of Los Angeles; a brother, Jesse Del Real of Lindsay; sisters, Margaret Serda of Lindsay and Sally Del Real of Downy; one grandchild.
Visitation will be noon to 8 p.m. Saturday and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hamilton Peers Lorentzen Funeral Chapel, Tulare. Rosary will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at the chapel. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Lindsay-Strathmore District Cemetery.
Rocky Shaver
Sublette County Sheriff's Office Chief Detective, Rocky Shaver, died Saturday, July 28, 2001, at Bannock Regional Medical Center in Pocatello, Idaho. He died of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident a week earlier near Victor, Idaho.
Rocky Shaver, 45, worked for Sublette County Sheriff's Office since May of 1993. Prior to that he worked for Tulare County Sheriff's Office in Visalia, from 1984-1993.
He leaves his wife, Kim; a son, Josh; a daughter, Roxanene all of Pinedale, Wyo.; mother, sisters, Cindy Canizales, Shirley Martinez of Woodlake and Billie Merlo of Hillsberg, Calif.
A memorial service has been set at 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 10, at the Pinedale High School Auditorium. A luncheon will follow at the VFW Post 4801. Arrangements are by Hudson's Funeral Home, Pinedale, Wyo.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Rocky Shaver Benefit Account located at the Bank of Pinedale, P.O. Box 1510, Pinedale, WY 82941.
Jorge Vega
LINDSAY -- Jorge M. Vega, 67, of Lindsay died Tuesday, July 31, 2001. He was a farm laborer.
Visitation will be 8:30-9:30 a.m. today at Webb-Sanders Funeral Home, Lindsay. Mass will be 10 a.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be at Lindsay-Strathmore Cemetery.
Bill Wilson
TULARE -- Bill Wilson, 76, of Tulare died Monday, July 30, 2001. He owned and operated a truck farm.
At his request, no services are planned. Arrangements are by Hamilton Peers Lorentzen Funeral Chapel, Tulare.
Joe Martinez
Beloved husband of Diana Martinez, loving father of Evelyn Diekman, Vivian Olson and George Martinez, brother of Manuel Martinez. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Vigil services will be 7 p.m. today at Pierce Brothers Simone Dubois Mortuary, San Gabriel. Funeral liturgy will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the San Gabriel Mission. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
Charles F. Rayner
Charles F. Rayner, 80, of Visalia died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001. He was retired.
Charles was born on Dec. 12, 1920, to Fredrick and Blanch Rayner in Exeter. He married Virginia Ruth Rice on Aug. 7, 1942, in Reno, Nev. He was in the United States Army's 3rd Division from 1939 to 1945, serving in World War II. He was a lifelong resident of Tulare County, and was employed by Tulare County in Road Construction for 30 years. Charles was preceded in death by one brother Edward and his wife of 50 years, Virginia.
Survivors include a daughter, Judy Abrajan of Visalia; a son, Dennis W. Rayner of Washington; a sister, Geraldine Stephens of Missouri; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be 2-7 p.m. Thursday at Miller Memorial Chapel, Visalia. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Visalia District Cemetery.
Christine Washington-Sevier
Christine Washington-Sevier, 59, of Visalia died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001. She did clerical work.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. today at Sterling Funeral Home Inc., Fresno. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Second Baptist Church in Visalia.
