Dorothy Chumley
Dorothy June Chumley, 77, of Visalia passed away Monday, Oct. 1, 2001.
She was born and raised in Tulare, attended local schools and graduated from Tulare Union High School. She was married to Eugene Chumley, who preceded her in death in 1992. She retired from the Tulare County Welfare Department in 1981.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Anna Stewart, and a sister, Louise Hicks.
She was a member of the Visalia Senior Bowling League.
Survivors include a son, Michael Chumley of Visalia; a daughter, Rhonda Scott and her husband, Dan, of Visalia; a brother, Galen Stewart of Tulare; four sisters, Margaret Caudle of Tulare, Katie Davis of Boston, Mass., Beverly Wheeler of Gresham, Ore., and Genelle Nash of Everett, Wash.; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Smith Mountain Cemetery
in Dinuba. Arrangements are by Dopkins Funeral Chapel in Dinuba.
Joyce Fehlman
Joyce Ellen Fehlman, 59, of Visalia died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001. She was an accountant.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Smith Mountain Cemetery, Dinuba. Dopkins Funeral Chapel, Dinuba.
Ray Franck
TULARE -- Ray Carl Franck, 81, of Tulare died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001. He was a milker.
Services will be private. Arrangements are by Myers Funeral Chapel, Porterville.
Henry Murphy Haynes
WOODLAKE -- Henry Murphy Haynes, 80, of Woodlake passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, in Fresno. He was an auto mechanic for 45 years.
Henry was born in Douglas County, Mo., on July 31, 1921, to Henry and Maude Haynes. He married Lillie Helen Atchison on June 20, 1941, in Ava, Mo. He served three years in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific from 1943 to 1945 during World War II. They relocated to California from Missouri in 1948. They resided in Napa, Calif., for 25 years, returning to Woodlake in 1984 following his retirement. He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. His parents and two sisters, Verbal Detherage and Gladys Haynes, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Lillie Helen Atchison of Woodlake; four children, Phyllis Ann Harmon of Lemoncove, Darrel Lee Haynes of Woodlake, Rita Faye Gruesbeck of Bothell, Wash., and Daniel Ray Hayes of Woodlake; a sister, Lorene Dixon of Springfield, Mo.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today at Miller Memorial Chapel, Visalia. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Woodlake Cemetery.
Carol Ingoldsby
LINDSAY -- Carol Altura Ingoldsby, 101, of Lindsay died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001. She was a florist.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to noon Friday at Webb-Sanders Funeral Home, Lindsay. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at the chapel.
Olney Kendall
Olney Roy Kendall, 81, of Visalia died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2001. He was a retired educator.
A memorial service will be noon Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001, at the First Baptist Church in Visalia. Burial will be private. Arrangements are by Miller Memorial Chapel, Visalia.
Richard Larson
Richard Larson, 83, of Visalia died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Visalia District Cemetery. Arrangements are by Hadley Funeral Chapel, Visalia.
Gwendolyn Marshall
Gwendolyn Marshall, 91, of Visalia died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001. She was a superintendent.
Mrs. Gwendolyn Marshall was born in Trenton, N.J., on Aug. 27, 1910, to Ethan and Agnes Saul. In 1923, the family came to California, where she attended school in Porterville securing an education in business, and entering a career in office management with Bradford Well Drilling Company. In 1936, she met and married Albert K. Marshall, a member of an old pioneer family of that area. They both worked in the U.S. Postal Service in Palo Alto and Visalia until their retirement.
Mrs. Marshall leaves her sister, Mrs. William Crawford, a brother-in-law, Frank Marshall and his wife, Mary, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Frances Detrick.
Graveside services will be 9 a.m. Friday at Visalia District Cemetery. Arrangements are by Hadley Funeral Chapel, Visalia.
Clara Monger
TULARE -- Clara L. "Babe" Monger, 81, of Tulare passed away Monday, Oct. 1, 2001.
She was born in Tulare to John Samuel Nagel and Ethel Mae Pursell. She married Gerald R. Monger on March 25, 1942. She was the manager for the Tulare Mosquito Abatement District, before she retired. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1983.
She was a member of the Tulare city and county historical societies and a volunteer for Tulare District Hospital.
Survivors include a son, Jack Monger and his wife, Terri, of Tulare; two brothers, Robert Nagel of Tulare and Sam Nagel of Seattle, Wash.; a sister, Grace Karnes of Tulare; and two granddaughters, Jana Bonnar and her husband, Tim, of Porterville, and Amy Monger of Tulare.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday at First Church of God, 833 North Blackstone St.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the First Church of God, 833 N. Blackstone St., Tulare, CA 93274. Arrangements are by the Neptune Society of Central California in Fresno.
Serena Moya
TULARE -- Serena Angel Moya, infant daughter of Elena Macias and Jason Moya, was born and died on Monday, Oct., 1, 2001.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Hamilton Peers Lorentzen Funeral Chapel, Tulare. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Tulare District Cemetery.
Anthony Oliveira
TULARE -- Anthony "Tony" Oliveira, 79, of Tulare died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001. He was a retired dairy farmer and truck driver.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at Miller's Tulare Funeral Home. Recitation of the rosary will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Aloysius Church in Tulare followed by Mass at the church, Tulare. Burial will be in the Tulare Cemetery.
