Judie Cook Dale

Judie, who was a beloved mother, loving sister and tender grandmother, was called home by her Heavenly Father at 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001.
Judie was born June 12, 1939, and raised in Exeter and Visalia. She was the second of four children born to Gordon and Jewel Cook. Gordon Cook was president of the Bank of America and Jewel had been a registered nurse prior to becoming a homemaker.

She attended Lincoln Grammar School in Exeter, George McCann Catholic School in Visalia and Redwood High School.

In 1957 she married Dennis Wippert and moved to Southern California, where they started a family.

Careerwise, Judie worked in Southern California as a waitress. She returned to Visalia in 1963 for the opening of the Lamplighter Inn and worked for many years at the Flame Restaurant. In 1975 Judie began her career in accounting and personnel administration, retiring in April 2001 from American Air.

Judie always had a great desire to give and help others. In the 60's, she worked with the Cub Scouts of George McCann in Visalia. In the 70's, Judie was a great blessing to Christ Church as a children's church worker. In the 80's, Judie founded and operated a large home on Chinowth Avenue to house women and families in need, called "The Ménage." Through the Ménage, many young women and their children were loved, encouraged and helped in finding jobs and starting a new life. In the 90's, Judie found great fulfillment in helping others learn to read and received awards for her dedicated service to adult literacy.

The springboard for all Judie's benevolent acts was her love for the Lord Jesus Christ. Her face lit up when she recounted the many blessings she had received since accepting the Lord into her life in 1974. She was a faithful member of Christ Church of Visalia for 26 years, during which time she touched the lives of many people with her warmth, wisdom and many acts of kindness. When Christ Church dissolved, Judie attended Visalia First Assembly of God.

Judie will be missed by many, but especially her three children who dearly loved their Mother; Linda Powers and her husband Bob of Ontario, Marc Wippert and his wife Cece of Fresno and Mikel  Jackson and her husband Tom of Fort Worth,  Texas.
