Doristeen Whitworth

Doristeen Dixon Whitworth died March 30, 2003 in Livermore. She was 54.

The Arkansas native had lived in Livermore for four years. She worked as an in home caregiver. She was a member of St. Matthew’s Baptist Church of Livermore and Eastern Star of Richmond, CA.

She is survived by her husband Wayne Whitworth of Monterey, a daughter Shevette Lyniece Dixon of Los Angeles, sons Homer Lee Dixon IV of Oakdale and DeShawn Cathedral Dixon of Jamestown, her father James Caroline of Wisconsin and ten grandchildren.

Services were held April 7 at St. Matthew’s Baptist Church in Livermore. Burial was at Roselawn Cemetery in Livermore.

George Boreham, Jr.

George E. Boreham, Jr., Lt. Col., USAF, Ret., died suddenly of cardiac arrest Sunday, March 16, 2003 in Kingman, AZ.

He was born in Denver, CO on August 18, 1924. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He graduated from  Washington State College in 1953 and moved to San Jose where he worked as Director of Pharmacy Services for Santa Clara County, serving the community for over 50 years. He was a member of the Salvation Army. He had numerous professional and Masonic affiliations and was a member of the Santa Cruz Hangar of the Quiet Birdmen and The Wings of History, serving as a docent at the air museum. He also served on the Santa Clara County Grand Jury. He will always be remembered for his kindness, eternal optimism, gentle nature and devotion to family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Marie, son David, daughters Betsy Hale (Michael), and Alison Moore (Steven), five grandchildren, one great grandchild and a sister, Doris Walker.

A memorial service was held March 29 at the Salvation Army Temple in San Jose. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.

Ralph Giddens

Ralph Edward Giddens died April 2, 2003 in Tracy. He was 53.

The new York native had lived in Tracy for 7 years. He worked as director at Anda Networks for 30 years. He was a member of St. Matthew’s Baptist Church, an Associate Pastor to the Rev. Allen Turner. He was a member of the nominating committee, director of BTU, Sunday school teacher, member of the prayer board and witness scene outreach.

He is survived by his wife Ernestine Giddens of Tracy, daughters Rashon Giddens of New York and Marlo Williams, sons Ralph Giddens, Jr. of New York, Marlon Glymph and Billy Ward, three sisters and six grandchildren.

Services were held April 9 at St. Matthew’s Baptist Church.

Felipe Tadena

Felipe Tadena died April 2, 2003 in Pleasanton. He was 98. The native of the Philippines had lived in Livermore for 52 years.

He worked as a grafter at Concannon Vineyard for many years. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Livermore and the Filipino/American Association.

He is survived by his wife Angeli Tadena of Livermore, daughter and son-in-law Christine Tadena-Miller and Patrick Miller of Belmont, a son Philip Tadena (on the front lines in Iraq), a sister, a brother and granddaughter Caitlin Miller.

Mass was celebrated April 8 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Livermore.Burial was at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery in Livermore.

Ann Silveria

Ann Silveria died April 7, 2003 in Pleasanton. She was 94.

The Oakland, CA native had lived in Livermore for the past two years. She was a member of St. Augustine’s Catholic Church and the Alameda County Cowbelles. She was active in civic affairs including volunteering at Valley Memorial Hospital.

She is survived by a daughter Margaret (Peggy) Killingback of Portland, OR., three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband George Silveria, who died in Pleasanton in 1990.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thurs., April 10 at Graham-Hitch Mortuary, 4167 First St., Pleasanton. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Fri., April 11 at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in Pleasanton. Burial will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward.

Clara Boston

Clara Boston died April 6, 2003 at her home in Dublin. She was 92.

The Ohio native had moved to Dublin from Livermore where she had lived for 21 years. She lived most of her life in Ohio. She worked at TRW as an inspector, retiring in 1974 after 32 years. She was a member of the Women's Church Circle at Masters Methodist Church in Cleveland. Her hobby was bowling.

She is survived by her grandchildren James Boston of Modesto, Mary Ann Bremerton of WA., Joan Bechtel of Dublin, Diane Garry of Ohio, and Janet Swain of Nevada, and twelve grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Norton Boston, Sr. and son Norton Boston, Jr.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Fri., April 11 at  Whitehaven Memorial Park in Mayfield Village, Ohio.

Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 7000 Village Parkway, Suite E, Dublin, CA 94568.

Jackie Hensley

Jackie Hensley died April 4, 2003 at ValleyCare Medical Center in Pleasanton. She was 74.

The Hollywood, CA native had lived in Dublin for 40 years. She was a member of John Knox Presbyterian Church in Dublin and the Dublin Women's Club. She was a voting inspector for 35 years with the League of Women Voters.

She is survived by her husband Jack Hensley of Dublin, sons Bradley Hensley of Irvine and Shawn Patrick Hensley of Dublin, a daughter Claudia Freitas of Santa Clara, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Fri., April 11 at John Knox Presbyterian Church, 7421 Amarillo Rd., Dublin.

Arrangements are by Graham-Hitch Mortuary in Pleasanton.

Daniel Yparraguirre

Daniel L. Yparraguirre died May 21, 2003 at his home in Pleasanton. He was 74.

The Nevada native had lived in Pleasanton since 1970. He received his BA from UC Berkeley in 1952. He owned and operated Russell Vending Co. in the East Bay from 1974-1994; from 1952-1974 he was in the commercial meat business. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He enjoyed working in the wood shop at the Pleasanton Senior Center and playing cards with friends.

He is survived by sons Daniel Yparraguirre of Woodland, Jeffrey Yparraguirre of Healdsburg and Bruce Yparraguirre of Chico, a daughter Susan Henningsen of Folsom, two sisters and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Joy Yparraguirre in 1995.

A memorial service was held May 27 at Graham-Hitch Mortuary in Pleasanton. Burial will be in Gardnerville, Nevada.

Memorials may be made to the California Waterfowl Assoc., 4630 Northgate Blvd., Suite 150, Sacramento, CA 95834, or to a favorite charity.

Ray D. Rubin

Ray D. Rubin died May 24, 2003 at ValleyCare Medical Center in Pleasanton. He was 66.

The Ohio native had lived in Pleasanton since 1981. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He worked for the San Leandro Fire Department for almost 40 years.

He is survived by a son Craig Rubin of Medford, OR., brother and sister-in-law Gary and Edie Rubin of Discovery Bay, a niece Kristie Polimeno of Discovery Bay and a nephew Tim Rubin of Antioch. He was preceded in death by a son Raymond Todd Rubin in 1993.

Graveside services were held May 28 at Roselawn Cemetery in Livermore.

Arrangements were by Graham-Hitch Mortuary of Pleasanton.

Margaret J. Spurgeon: Margaret J. Spurgeon died July 22, 2003 at her son’s home in Livermore. She was 89.

The New Jersey native had lived in Hemet, CA for the past 12 years. She worked as a teacher for 20 years, enjoyed traveling and was very adventurous.

She is survived by her sons Tom Stanger of Livermore and Jay Stanger of Los Gatos, two grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

A memorial service was held July 25 in Pleasanton. Burial was at the First United Methodist Church Cemetery in Glassboro, New Jersey.

John Bonivert

John B. Bonivert died July 23, 2003 in Hayward. He was 44.

The Castro Valley native had lived in the Fremont, Hayward area for 22 years; prior to that he had lived in Pleasanton for 22 years. He worked as a shop foreman, mechanic and special projects assistant to the company president of Four Star Cleaning and Restoration doing disaster clean up in Alameda County for 25 years.

He is survived by his brothers, Bill, Brian and Jeff Bonivert and a sister Amelia Stovall. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Catherine Bonivert.

A private service will be observed.

John Bonivert requested any donations made in his name be sent to a charity of choice that helps children learn to play music.

Joseph T. O’Hare

Joseph T. O’Hare died July 24, 2003 at ValleyCare Medical Center in Pleasanton. He was 77.

The Massachusetts native had lived in Pleasanton for eight years. Prior to that he had lived in Rockland, MA for eight years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in both World War II and the Korean Conflict. He worked as an operator for thirty years with Boston Edison Co. in Quincy, MA.

He is survived by sons Stephen O’Hare of Pleasanton and Robert O’Hare of Rhode Island, daughters Nancy Skiffington of Florida and Michelle Galvin of Massachusetts, a sister and six grandchildren.

Private family services are planned.

Donations may be made to Hope Hospice, 6500 Dublin Blvd., Suite 100, Dublin, CA 94568.

Ricardo Coelho

Livermore native and lifelong resident Ricardo Fernandes Coelho died July 26, 2003 in a car accident in Livermore. He was 31.

He graduated from Livermore High School in 1990. He worked as a parts clerk for the past seven years at East Bay BMW. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Livermore. He volunteered to help with the Livermore Community Thanksgiving Dinner, enjoyed woodworking, computers, his cares and motorcycle. He also enjoyed going to festivals throughout the Bay Area.

He is survived by his companion Rebecca Sekol of Livermore, his parents Jorge and Maria Coelho of Livermore, grandparents Jose Fernandes of Portugal and Carlos Coelho of Livermore.

Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thurs., July 31 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 458 Maple St., Livermore. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery in Livermore.

Izetta Collins-McNamara

Izetta Collins-McNamara died July 25, 2003 at Pleasanton HealthCare. She was 87.

The Wisconsin native had lived in San Ramon for 30 years. She was a homemaker for 55 years. She was a member of St. Raymond’s Catholic Church and the Altar Society of St. Raymond’s. She loved to dance and to travel.

She is survived by a son John Collins Jr. of Livermore, daughters Ann Barbara Hill of San Jose, Patricia Hubacher of San Ramon and Sandra Jean Lugea of Mt. View, fourteen grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husbands, John Francis Collins, Sr., and Anthony McNamara.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thurs., July 31 at St. Raymond’s Catholic Church, 11555 Shannon Ave., Dublin.

Burial will be at Tulocay Cemetery in Napa. Arrangements by Graham-Hitch Mortuary.

Mary Ann Noble: Mary Ann Noble died Sept. 21, 2003 at her home in Livermore. She was 65.

The Missouri native had lived in Livermore for 12 years, moving her from Van Nuys. She was a restaurateur. She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Sirettes and Cancer Support Group of the American Cancer Society, and volunteered at the Discovery Store. She enjoyed acting, bowling, going to the movies, cooking, reading and music.

She is survived by her daughters Kristin Barton of Livermore and Gretchen Berb of Winnetka, son Paul Ratliff of Livermore, and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son Kevin John Henry in 1975.

Funeral services were held Oct. 1 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Livermore. Burial will be at the San Fernando Mission Cemetery in San Fernando.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 7000 Village Parkway, Suite E, Dublin, CA 94568-2345.
