Edward P. DiGirolamo
Edward P. DiGirolamo passed
away peacefully
in the afternoon of
November 14, 2009 after a
long battle with pulmonary
fibrosis and pneumonia.
He was born May 15, 1917. He
was a Livermore resident.
He was the beloved husband
of Shirley DiGirolamo, a tower of
strength during Edward's illness.
He is also survived by two sons,
Leonard and Phillip, as well as a
daughter, Diana. In addition, to
his children, Edward is survived
by five grandchildren and two
great grandchildren.
Edward served his country in
the Navy during World War II in
the Pacific, where he received
a Purple Heart. He ultimately
served 40 years of both active and
reserve duty, retiring in 1977 at
Alameda Naval Station as a Chief
Petty Officer.
He was an avid bowler. Known
as "Eddie D" to his many friends
and fellow bowlers, he was
elected president of many of the
leagues in which he bowled. He
also served for a time as vice
president of the Alameda County
Bowling Association and house
representative for Bay Fair Lanes
in Hayward.
A celebration of his life was
held November 21 at the Odd
Fellows Hall in Livermore,
where Edward and Shirley were
members.
Edward's wishes were to be
cremated and his ashes scattered
at sea in a private ceremony. Arrangements
are pending.

Frederick S. Blanchard
Frederick Blanchard passed
away on Friday, November 20,
2009, in Hayward, at the age
of 92, from complications of a
cerebral hemorrhage suffered in
May of this year.
Fred was born in Winnipeg,
Manitoba, Canada, on August 3,
1917. He moved with his family
to California when he was six
years old. He met and married
his wife, Barbara J. Rose, in
Stockton, California in 1941.
They had one daughter, Kathleen.
They moved to Livermore in
1951 and lived there for the next
58 years.
Fred worked for Lawrence
Livermore National Laboratories
retiring after 25 years of service
as the foreman of the Template
Shop. He was involved in the
fabrication of materials for the
Department of Defense. Fred
was involved in the Livermore
Amateur Radio Club for many
years and enjoyed communicating
with many friends on his
Ham radio. His beloved wife,
Barbara, preceded Fred in death
in 2007.
Fred is survived by a daughter,
Kathleen Stevens of Livermore;
a grandson, Paul E. Nagel of El
Dorado Hills; a grandson, Brian
K. Nagel of Fresno; a granddaughter,
Deborah A. Winoski
of Suffolk, Virginia; great granddaughters
Jessica and Erin Nagel
of Fresno; Desiree Stevens of
Suffolk, Virginia; Kayla Nagel of
El Dorado Hills; and great grandsons,
Joshua Nagel of Fresno;
Steven Nagel of El Dorado Hills;
and Christopher Winoski of Suffolk,
Virginia.
Private burial will be at Roselawn
cemetery in Livermore,
California.

Eugene M. Borba
Eugene Borba was born January
14, 1932 in Salinas, CA.
He was a loving husband
to Ruth Borba of Livermore;
father to Eugene M. Borba Jr.
of Modesto, CA, Letha Armstrong
of Lathrop, CA, Frank
Borba of Clearlake Oaks, CA,
and Rosie Borba of Manteca,
CA; grandfather to Christine
Ortega of Plano,  Texas; Russell
Armstrong of Manteca, CA;
Richard Armstrong of Lathrop,
CA; Aaron Borba of Kelseyville,
CA; Wendie Borba of Lincoln,
NE; and Emily Anderson of
Manteca, CA; and many great
grandchildren..

Josephine J. Diana
Josephine J. Diana died November
26, 2009. She was born
on January 25, 1928.
She was a loving wife,
mother,grandmother and great
grandmother.
Josephine graduated from
St Vincent Nursing School NY
in 1949. She worked at Donlon
School for 27 years on the
playground. She had lived in
Pleasanton for 47 year.
She is survived by husband
Robert, of 58 years, children
Robert Jr, Joanne, Stephen.
Grandchildren Michelle, Gary,
Michael and Nicole, and great
grandchild Lily Jo.
Mass was celebrated at St.
Elizabeth Seton in Pleasanton
on Dec. 2.
Donations may be made to
St. Jude Children’s Hospital,
501 St. Jude Place, Memphis,
TN 38105.

Thomas Ray Cunningham
Thomas Ray Cunningham
was born Jan. 12, 1971 in Hayward,
CA. He was only 38 years
old when murdered on Nov. 24,
2009.
Tommy is survived by his
13-year-old daughter Chelsie
Ann, his stepdaughter Amanda
Petrey and their mother Nancy
Cunningham.
His parents Jim and Retta
Cunningham of Cottage Grove,
OR; his sister Jamie (Joe) Losado
of Antioch and sons James Hansen
and Jason and Michael Enarson,
a brother Eric Cunningham
of Livermore his wife Cheryl,
their 3 daughters Ashley, Alyssa
and Brittney. Tommy also had 2
grand nephews James and Jayden
Hansen.
Tommy grew up in Livermore
and graduated from Granada
High, Class of 1990. After working
several years as a concrete
finisher, he became a custodian
for Dublin School District. For
the past 6 years, he was head
custodian at Dublin Elementary
School, where he’s known as
Mr. Tom.
Tommy was loved and respected
by everyone that knew
him. he has always been a very
giving person. He loved sports,
especially fishing and dirt bike
riding with his daughter. He was
an avid Raiders fan. He loved
to cook, often said he’d like to
own a restaurant. He would have
been good at it. He loved his job
and all the children at Dublin
Elementary. But most of all he
treasured his daughter. He always
said she was the best thing that
ever happened to him.
Funeral services will be held
at Callaghan Mortuary, Thursday,
Dec. 3 at 2pm. Family and friends
are invited to come say goodbye
to Tommy.
The family is asking that in
lieu of flowers, donations be
made to the Thomas Ray Cunningham
Memorial Fund at any
Wells Fargo Bank or by check to
636 So. 2nd St., Cottage Grove,
OR 97424. The fund has been
up for his daughter’s college
education.
