Richard P. Gallagher
Richard P. Gallagher, 88, died
January 23, 2010, at his home
of natural causes. The former
Livermore resident, lived in Fall
River Mills, CA.
Richard Paul Gallagher was
born April 7, 1921 in Livermore,
Ca., to Joseph Michael and Mary

graduating from high school he
later served in the U.S. Navy,
in WWII, after marrying his
High School sweetheart, Leona,
in 1941. He was a long time
employee for Caterpillar tractor
in the Bay Area, then later,
in Gridley, where he and Leona
operated Farmers Café. In 1972,
Dick and Leona moved to the
Intermountain area, where he
purchased the John Deere dealership
from Charlie King. It was
there he launched the pump business
that became his main focus
in later years.
His family notes: Dick loved
the business of helping people.
And there are few greater needs
for people than water. It was hard
to tell where his pump business
stopped and personal time began.
For it was not unusual for Dick to
leave the house on service calls,
weekends and holidays, rain or
shine. He was always there when
the water stopped.
He will be missed greatly by
his family and everyone he knew,
especially those he helped, in a
time of need.

Phyllis Berryman, of Chico,
and Linda Parker, of Burney,

Johnson, Alice Bruns and Helen
Kruger. He was preceded in death
by granddaughter, Diane Smith,
brother Francis Gallagher and
sister Irene Madigan.

After attaining his B.S. (Biology/
Anatomy and Physiology)
at San Jose State and his M.S.
at CSU Chico (Entomology)
Mr. Bergmann was a proud and
dedicated Educator devoted to
bettering education and “making
a difference in people’s lives”

was elected acting president at
Mission College in Santa Clara
three times, even though he

Little League baseball and girl’s
softball, CYO basketball, as well
as coaching high school football,
tennis and swimming teams.
He always said that his greatest
achievement, and the one
closest to his heart, was his
family. He was always so proud
of his children, grand children
and great grand children. Mr.
Bergmann is survived by Bonnie,
his loving wife of 55 years,

Our Father will remain in our
hearts forever. He taught us the
value of pride, honesty, integrity,
determination and hard work,
mental and moral strength as well
as dedication to family. We will
miss his wonderful wit and sense
of humor (“Dad’isms) and his
council. He has greatly enriched
the lives of his family, students,
and all who had the pleasure to
know him.
A private service was held on
2-3-2010 at the Sacramento Valley
National Cemetery in Dixon,
California.
