Martha T. Field
Livermore resident Martha
T. Fields was born in Hickory,
North Carolina on April 10, 1924
and passed away on Sunday, July
25, 2010 in Fremont, CA. She
was 86 years old.
Martha was raised in Hickory,
N.C. where she attended college
and later earning her Bachelor’s
Degree in Nursing. She married
her husband, Les in 1944 in Louisiana
and moved to California in
1945. She worked at Providence
Hospital in Oakland, a Doctor’s
Office in Hayward and as an Industrial
Nurse for United Can in
Hayward for a total of 45 years
of service. She was a member
of the Eastern Star, Daughters of
the Nile, Elks Lodge in Fremont,
Moose Lodge in Castro Valley,
the Shurafa RV Club and Golden
Panners.
Martha was preceded in death
by her husband, Les in 2009. She
is survived by her daughter Sherron
and husband, Hank Gersich
of Livermore, CA, son Bill and
wife, Barbara Field of Manteca,
CA, 3 grandchildren and 9 great
grandchildren.
Funeral services were August
1 in Livermore. Interment will
be at San Joaquin Valley National
Cemetery in Santa Nella, CA.

Bernice Rose Schott
Bernice Rose Schott passed
away July 24, 2010 in Fremont,
California. She was born February
7, 1925 in San Francisco,
California. She was a resident of
Pleasanton for 39 years.
Preceded in death by her husband
Albert Raymond Schott and
her sisters Rose Marie Schroff
and Katherine Bensen. She is survived
by her daughters Patricia of
Manteca and Mary of Livermore;
brothers Joe Kennel of San Francisco
and Robert Kennel of San
Bruno; grandchildren of Gustavo,
Yvette and Robert Jeremiah.
Bernice loved to knit, spending
time with her family. She
loved animals and enjoyed television,
going to Swiss events:
dances and picnics and she was a
fan of the A's and Giants..
Services were held July 28th at
St. Augustine's Catholic Church
in Pleasanton. Burial was at Holy
Cross Cemetery
in Colma, California.
Donations can be made
to the SPCA, No Kill Animal
Shelters and Animal Rescue.

Doris Madeleine Patrick
Doris was born in Oakland,
CA on July 8, 1904 and passed
away on Friday, July 23, 2010 in
Livermore, CA.
She was a resident of Heritage
Estates for four years.
She was a member of
Trinity Baptist Church in Livermore.
Prior to coming to Livermore, she
lived in Grass Valley 40 years,
where she was active in the Rock
Club, the Stamp Club, Memoir
Group and a Museum Docent in
Grass Valley. She was an amazing
106 years old. Doris worked
as a secretary for the Berkeley
Board of Education for 30 years,
retiring in 1964.
Doris was preceded in death
by her husband Vernon Patrick in
1970. Surviving are her 2 loving
sons Richard and his wife Beth
Patrick of Livermore, CA , Raymond
and his wife Edi Patrick of
Petaluma, CA, 9 grandchildren,
14 great grandchildren and 3
great-great grandchildren and
many nieces and nephews. Doris
will be greatly missed by all who
knew her.

Dorothy Rose
Castro Murray
Livermore resident Dorothy
Rose Castro Murray departed this
life on July 24, 2010 at the age
93. She was born on the Castro
Ranch in San Pablo, CA on July
24, 2010, to P. L. Castro &
Rose Cunningham Castro.
She was the third of seven children.
Dorothy was in the 6th generation
of a family who came from Spain to settle
in the East Bay Hills. She rode
and worked cattle on the family
ranches daily with her brothers
and sisters. Some of her fondest
memories were driving cattle
from Pinole, CA. railroad corrals
back to the family ranch near
San Pablo Dam Road. Dorothy
showed stock horses at all the
local shows. She won ladies
stock horse class at the famous
Lafayette, CA horse show three
times.
She was a member of the
VFW Auxiliary, Alameda County
CattleWomen’s Association, California
Farm Bureau, a volunteer
at St. Michaels School, 4-H and
FFA supporter.
Dorothy was preceded in
death by her husband of 57 yrs,
Joe Murray, and by her 6 brothers
and sisters.
She is survived by her son Joe
(Cathy) Murray Jr.; grandsons
Troy (Natalie) Murray and Lane
Ace Murray, numerous nieces
and nephews, and by her special
friend Bobbie Small.
Mass was celebrated on Thursday,
July 29, 2010 at 10 a.m. at St.
Michael’s Catholic Church, 428
Maple St., Livermore.

Darlene Gail Burr
Darlene went home to be with
the lord, at the age of 68 on July
16, 2010. She was born Jan. 13,
1942.
She was a 50 year resident of
Livermore.
Darlene was preceded in death
by her father Roger Bouscal in
2009.
She is survived by her mother
Lois Bouscal of Livermore, her
son Rodney (Michelle) Burr of Turlock,
brothers Dennis Bouscal of
Washington & Rocky
Bouscal of Livermore, and by two
grandchildren Ashton & Andrea
Burr of Turlock.
A celebration of Darlene’s life
was held on Monday, July 26 in
Livermore.

Patricia Lucretia Fones
Cox
Patricia Lucretia Fones Cox
was born on March 17, 1945 in
Oakland, California. She was the
first child of Robert and Dorothy
Fones. The family later moved to
Livermore, California where Pat
graduated from Livermore High
School in 1963.
Pat went on to attend San Jose
State University, Chabot College
and Cal State Hayward earning
AA and BA degrees, teaching and
administrative credentials, and a
Masters Degree in Early Childhood
Education. Pat started her
own primary school in Hayward
and later, when she moved to Nevada
she taught in Denio, started
a preschool in Sparks, and ended
her distinguished teaching career
at Natchez Elementary where she
taught for over 20 years. Pat was
a dedicated teacher and one of
her former students inducted her
into the prestigious “Who’s Who
Among America’s Teachers.”
Pat is survived by her husband
of nearly 40 years, Darryl Cox of
Sparks, NV; son David Cox and
daughter-in-law Valerie Cox of
Folsom, CA; son Kirklyn Cox,
daughter-in-law Shauna Logan,
and grandson Darby Cox of
Tucson, AZ; daughter Kristine
Cox and her partner Imad Ajjawi
of East Lansing Michigan;
sisters Marion Volberg of Oak
Run, CA, Dotty Gonsalves of
Hayward, CA, and Thelma Fones
of Livermore, CA; and 14 nieces
and nephews; and seven great
nieces and nephews.
Pat was a loyal and generous
person and her family and friends
will dearly miss her. They will
forever remember her strong
willed courage as she peacefully
faded into the sunset on October
24, 2009.
A memorial service was held
at Rancho San Rafael Park, in
Reno, NV on October 25, 2009.

There will be another memorial
at Natchez Elementary
School in Wadsworth, NV on
