Eva Elizabeth Dianda
Eva Elizabeth Dianda died
June 7, 2009. She was born
January 13, 1915. Eva resided
in Livermore for the last forty
years. She was a member of St.
Michael's Catholic Church and
the Italian Catholic Federation.
She was family oriented, a gourmet
cook, skilled seamstress,
talented craftswoman, and had
a green thumb. She had numerous
home remedies for ailments,
was always in good health, and
always returned home a winner
from her trips to Reno and Lake
Tahoe.
Eva grew up on an artichoke
farm in the Monterey area. There
she served as a midwife, taught
English as a second language,
assisted locals preparing for
their citizenship as well as carried
large responsibilities on the
farm.
Eva was preceded in death
by her parents, Giocondo and
Catarina Cerri, her sisters, Rose
Cerri, Eugenia Teale, Lena Roseo,
brother Ugo Cerri, and her
husband Italo Dianda. She is
survived by her daughters, Marlene
Dianda and Jeanette (Louis)
Basser, granddaughters Lynnell
Bartolo, Jannell (Gary) Wall,
and Elizabeth (Michael) Duarte;
seven great grandchildren, one
great grand granddaughter, and
numerous nieces, nephews and
cousins.
Funeral services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, please send
memorials to a favorite charity.

Pablita Purisima Martinez
The second of nine children
born to Martin Purisima and
Maxima Tabbada, “Lita," to her
relatives and friends, was born 75
years ago on January 25, 1934, in
Vigan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines.
She died June 4, 2009.
Nursing was her first choice
of profession when she enrolled
at the Manila Central University,
Manila, Philippines. Her weak
heart prevented her from pursuing
her career. Determined,
however, to better herself and
have a career, she graduated
and obtained her Bachelor of
Arts degree in social work at the
Philippine Women’s University
in 1958. She worked with her
father, who was then the Boys
Scout Executive of the Philippines
for the province of Ilocos
Sur. She later decided to use her
profession by joining the Office
of Social Welfare Administration
based in Vigan, Ilocos Sur.
Lita met her husband, Roberto
B. Martinez, known to his friends
and co-workers at the LLNL, as
Bob, when he was assigned as a
Special Attorney for the province
of Ilocos Sur during the 1961
presidential election. They were
married a year later.
Arriving in Honolulu, Hawaii,
in July 1971, Lita took good care
of her children and continued
to do so even after relocating
to Livermore, CA in 1973. She
joined the INTEL workforce in
1975 where she received several
service awards. When INTEL
relocated to Santa Clara, Lita
retired in 1991.
Lita traveled to the Philippines
and Europe (England,
Belgium, Holland, Germany,
Luxemburg, France and Italy).
Locally, she enjoyed going to
Carmel, Monterey, Los Angeles,
San Diego, San Francisco, Lake
Tahoe and Reno.
Lita was a devout Catholic,
a loving wife, a caring mother
to her three children, and a
wonderful grandmother to her
thirteen adoring grandchildren.
She loved crocheting, gardening,
sewing and cooking. Her family,
friends and co-workers were
very fond of her fried vegetable
lumpia.
Lita was blessed to have her
husband at her side when she
Passed away peacefully in her
sleep. She is survived by her husband
of 47 years; her daughter,
Gina Martinez-Morabe (Roland):
Gabriel, Reyna and Rafael; her
sons Vic Martinez (Tess): Isabella,
[Alex, Sophia and Marcofrom
a previous marriage]; and
Bob Martinez (Loren): Phia,
Norrin, Rhia, Heaven, Tanis
and Symphony; her two sisters,
four brothers, ten nieces, sixteen
nephews, and many grand nieces
and nephews. She will be dearly
missed by all.
Family and friends may visit
on Thursday, June 11, from 5:00
pm to 8:00 pm (Rosary at 8:00
pm) at Callaghan Mortuary, 3833
East Avenue, Livermore.
A memorial Mass will be held
Friday, June 12, 11:00 am at St.
Michael's Catholic Church, 458
Maple St., Livermore. Committal
to follow at Memory Gardens
Odd Fellows Memorial Park,
Livermore.

LeRoy George Green
LeRoy George Green died August
28, 2008, at ValleyCare Medical Center
in Pleasanton. He had worked at
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory
and been a resident of Livermore
for 54 years. He was 77 years
old.
Born in Petaluma, CA during the
Depression years, he worked from an
early age to help support himself. He
attended Santa Rosa Junior College
and then UC Berkeley, where in 1952
he earned a BS degree in Chemistry.
He continued with graduate work at
UC Berkeley and married in September
of 1953. The following year (with
a family on the way), he sought work
at the Livermore Radiation Laboratory.
His initial work included basic
research using calorimetry. He later
transferred to high explosives research,
where he worked for the remainder of
his career. He retired in 1993 after 40
years of employment with the University
of California (one of which was
at the Micro Lab while on campus).
Following retirement, he did some
outside consulting and continued to
work part time at the Lab until his
death.
He had been a member of the UC
Alumni Association and the American
Chemical Society; and a supporter
of the Livermore-Amador Symphony,
Del Valle Fine Arts, the Valley Opera,
the Fine Arts Museums of SF, and
many environmental and other charitable
groups. He had served on the
boards of the Livermore-Amador
Symphony Association, the Livermore-
Amador Symphony Guild,
SIRS 121, and the Livermore Amador
Valley Garden Club.
In addition to a love of music, he
enjoyed wildflower walks, hiking in
the Sierra, and participating in writing
and botany classes at Las Positas
College. His years of flying as a private
pilot with the Flying Particles
Club were another highlight in his life.
A devoted father and husband, he
is survived by his loving wife of nearly
55 years, Joan; his sons - Richard
Green of Studio City, CA, and Charles
Green and wife Linda of Martinez,
CA; his grandchildren - Roy and
Melissa Green (also of Martinez); his
brother - Harry Green and wife Janice
of Umpqua, OR; his sister - Marilyn
Bottini of Davis, CA; and numerous
nieces and nephews.
A memorial gathering will be held
on Saturday, September 13, at St.
Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church,
678 Enos Way, near Portola Avenue
in Livermore, beginning at 2 pm. The
family hopes that LeRoy’s many friends
and co-workers will come and share
their memories of him.
If desired, donations may be made
in his name to the Livermore-Amador
Symphony Association (P.O. Box
1049, Livermore, CA 94551-1049),
to the American Heart Association, or
to a charity of your choice.
