Mary L. Rodriguez, 88, died Monday, April 15, 2002, of natural causes, at St. Elizabeth Community Hospital in Redding,  Calif. She was born June 21, 1913, in Guadalajara, Mexico. She had lived in Westwood for 49 years before moving to Tehama County. She was a member of the El Camino Grange and the Corning VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening and reading. She was preceded in death by her husband, Will in 1971. She is survived by daughter, Irene Rodriguez, of Gerber,  Calif.; son, Will Rodriguez of Burney,  Calif., and four grandchildren. Services were held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Carole Yvonne Gunn, 64, died Friday, April 12, 2002. She was born Oct. 11, 1937, in Alameda,  Calif. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was a member of the Good Timers Club; and she enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, picnics, and all family outings. She enjoyed crafts, needlepoint and reading. She was preceded in death by husband, Allen Gunn. She is survived by sons, Anthony Pizzola of Susanville, Michael Pizzola of Couquille, Ore., David Pizzola of Ohio, Paul Pizzola of Ontario, Ore., Robert Pizzola of Coos Bay, Ore., Douglas Pizzola of Coos Bay, and Brian Pizzola; daughters, Debbie Gunn of Colorado Springs,  Colo., Patricia Simmons of Roseburg, Ore.; 21 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services are being held at 4 p.m., today Tuesday, April 23, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Susanville. The family will be having a private burial at a later date. There will be a reception following the services. In lieu of flowers donations are to be given to the Missionary Department of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, or American Diabetes Foundation.

Myrtle Guynes, 92, died Monday, April, 15, 2002, at the Lassen Community Hospital in Susanville. She was born Aug. 8, 1909, and had resided in Susanville for the past eight years, coming from  Texas. Guynes had been a homemaker her entire adult life, and was a member of the Assemblies of God Church. She is survived by sons, Wayburn Smith of Crescent City,  Calif., Boyd Smith also of Crescent City, Leslie Smith and Darryl Smith both of Okla., and Larry Smith of Grants Pass, Ore.; daughters, JoAnn Patterson of Susanville and Brenda Boyett of St. Mary's, Idaho; 18 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and numerous great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by son, Norman Smith and daughter, Jeanette Turner. Services were held at a later date in Shamrock,  Texas. The family requests that any donations be made in Guynes memory to the Lassen Manor Sunshine Club.

Belle Felecia Page, 86, died April 20, 2002, at Sunbridge convalescent Hospital in Susanville. She was born in Salem, Ore., on Dec. 8, 1915. She was born into the Baptist faith and attended church in her youth. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spoiled them a lot. She loved crocheting, gardening and baking pies. She was preceded in death by her husband Urtie Melvin Page and daughters, Juanita Bennett and Stella Page. Survivors include her grandson Wayne Bennett and two great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held Thursday, April 25, at 10 a.m. at Claggett Cemetery in Salem, Ore.

Jewell Lola Tiner, 89, died at the SunBridge Rehabilitation Center in Susanville. She was born Feb. 19, 1913, in Smithrick, Ark., and had resided in Lassen County since moving here from Paragould, Ark., in 1942. Tiner helped her husband work the Blickenstaff Ranch from 1953 to 1975. In 1975 they retired and moved to Susanville. On Dec. 5, 2001, she celebrated her 70th wedding anniversary. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Tiner of Susanville; sons, Marion Thomas Tiner of Sacramento, James Dwight Tiner, of Chico, and Keith F. Tiner and wife Barbara of Janesville; brother, Ira Perdue of Paragould, Ark.; sisters, Wanda Ripley, of Susanville, Wilma Harm of Phoenix, Ariz., and Evelyn Daugherty of Memphis, Tenn.; nine grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Services were held Wednesday, April 24, at the Janesville Cemetery in Janesville. The family requests that any donations be made in Jewell's memory to either the Janesville Jolly Elders' Club or to a favorite charity of choice.

Joshua Wallace Horizon, 19, died Saturday, April 20, 2002, after an accident in the Sacramento area. He was born Sept. 10, 1982. He is survived by his parents, Jeff and Linda Zekas, of Susanville; mother, Kathleen Horizon of Sacramento; brothers, Sam Dawson, of Susanville and Joe Dawson, of Redding; sister, Noel Horizon, of Highlands,  Calif.; grandparents Harry and Barbara Aderhold, of Janesville; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Memorial services and interment was held at East Lawn Mortuary, Thursday, April 25.

Dan R. Marsters, 27, died at his home in Sterling, Ala., on Friday, April 12, 2002. He was born in Susanville on April 25, 1974, the son of Everett Larry and Brenda Marsters of Sterling and the grandson of the late Cowboy Joe and Nellie Marsters of Doyle. He had been an Alaskan resident for 19 years. He was a graduate of Skyview High School, where he had been a member of the first Skyview football team. He was employed by Fairweather, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his parents; brothers, Don, his twin, of Sterling and Bart of Umatilla, Ore., Brian, Blake, Brett of Herlong, Buck of Aurora,  Colo., and Monti of Seattle, Wash.; sister, Kimberly Sellers of Thornton,  Colo., and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mary Curtis, 76, died Tuesday, April 23, 2002, at Lassen Community Hospital in Susanville. She was born Feb. 10, 1926, in Oakland,  Calif. She was a member of the Seventh day Adventist church, became very active and devoted to the church. She was a deacon in her church as well as the Pathfinder of the year. She collected postcards, stamps and coins. She enjoyed going on trips and camping. She is survived by her husband, Ralph; sons, William Curtis of Loma Linda,  Calif., Terry Curtis of Fortuna,  Calif., and Wayne Curtis of Chowchilla,  Calif.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Services are being held at 1 p.m.., Sunday, May 12, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Susanville. There will be a reception to follow at the church.

James C. Darlington
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 4, at 2 p.m. to honor James C. Darlington. It will be at the Masonic Lodge on Commercial Street in Portola. Please join family and friends in celebrating his life and wonderful memory.

Clayton Leroy Gregersen, 82, died April 25, 2002, at his home in Blairsden. He was born Feb. 10, 1920, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Ludwig and Zella Parsons Gregersen. Gregerson was the first R.O.P. counselor for Plumas Unified School District, retiring from the public school system in 1982. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He was a former member of Calpine Elks. He enjoyed golf and worked at the Plumas Pines pro shop for eight years following his retirement. Survivors include his wife, Garnett, of Blairsden; son, Scott Gregersen of West Sacramento; daughters, Susan Schoonover of Magalia, and Salley Winters of Springfield, Ore.; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. No services are planned. Private family inurnment will take place.

Bobby Ray "Stoney" Stonebarger, 63, died Wednesday evening, April 24, 2002, at Plumas District Hospital in Quincy. Born Oct. 31, 1938, in Rogers County, Okla., he was raised in Humboldt County. He had been a resident of Quincy for the past 21 years, moving here from Santa Rosa, where he had lived for 11 years. He and his wife had owned and operated Stoney's Country Burger in Quincy for the past 21 years. Stonebarger served with the U.S. Army Reserve after six years with the California National Guard where he served as a water purification specialist at the rank of sergeant. In Santa Rosa, he served as a scout master for the Boy Scouts and coached softball and youth soccer. In Quincy, he continually sponsored all types of youth athletics. He had been a longtime member of the Chamber of Commerce and had served as treasurer of the California High School Rodeo Association Fund-raising committee from 19881991. He sponsored Stoney's Championship Softball Team for 18 years. He supported all types of charitable community events. A street rod aficionado, 15 years ago he founded and promoted Stoney's Graffiti Night in Quincy, and was honored by numerous street rod clubs and associations for his contributions to the sport. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Ruby, of Quincy; children, Michael Ray Stonebarger, Barbara Mae Drake and Bonnie Leann Madarang, all of Quincy; brothers, Bill of Blue Lake, William of Oregon City, Ore., and Don of Martinez; sisters, Clara Sorensen of Arcata, Sharon Campbell of Pittsburg, and Shirley Darlen Stonebarger of McKinleyville; and six grandchildren. Visitation was held Tuesday, April 30, from 5-7 p.m., at the Fehrman Mortuary Chapel in Quincy, and Wednesday, May 1, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Quincy Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. A celebration of Stoney's life will take place Wednesday, May 1, at 1 p.m. at the Quincy Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with family member, Pastor Truman Campbell, of the Pittsburg Baptist Church, officiating. Cremation with private inurnment will follow. An opportunity to leave a personal memorial tribute is available online at . The family requests any donations in his memory be made to either the Plumas County Special Olympics or Far Northern Regional Center to benefit the visual and hearing impaired, c/o Fehrman Mortuary and Crematory, P.O.
