Wilbur "Truman" Dykes, 86, died on Tuesday, March 18, 2003, in Fairfield, Calif. after a short illness. He was born in Vacaville, Calif. on October 22, 1916. He was a resident of Fairfield area his whole life. He lived on a home ranch in Lagoon Valley, Calif. with his wife Mary and ran a dairy and beef cattle operation with his brother, Milton "Bo." He was also a member of the teamsters' union and after 45 years as a construction worker for the union, he retired and spent his time working and repairing tractors. He is preceded in death by his brother, Milton "Bo" and parents, William and Mabel. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary of Fairfield; stepson, Jack Iba of Rohnert Park, Calif.; sister, Billie Fling of Roseville, Calif.; sister and brother-in-law, Joy and Kelly Pasley of Roseville and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the North Bay Hospice program; 1300 Oliver Road, Suite 210, Fairfield, CA 94533 or to the American Heart Association; Redwood Empire Region, P.O. Box 844; Santa Rosa, CA 95402. No formal services are planned and a private inurnment will be held.
Leah Louisa Boyle, 80, died Sunday morning March 16, 2003 in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, her winter residence for the past two and a half years. Born August 12, 1922 to David and Ruby Kite Lords in La Belle, Idaho, she has been a resident of Westwood since moving here in 1973 from El Sobrante, Calif.. She was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed spending time with her family. She was an avid traveler and throughout the past years has traveled the USA from coast to coast and from Canada to the tip of the Mexican Baja Peninsula where she and her husband spent fourteen winters residing in Cabo San Lucas. She found great pleasure in spending time outdoors fishing and hunting. She is preceded in death by one son, two daughters, two brothers and one sister along with her parents. She is survived by her loving husband of 30 years William R. Boyle of Westwood; children Bobby Hall of Pahrump, Nev., Janet Etingoff of El Sobrante, Randy Reese of Pinole, Calif., Claudia Byrd of Westwood, Janice Boyle of Concord, Calif., Jeanette Newton of Martinez, Calif. and William Boyle, Jr. of Colusa, Calif., along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation took place Friday evening March 21 at the Clear Creek Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints. A celebration of Leah's life was held on Saturday, March 22 at the Clear Creek Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with burial to follow in the Westwood Cemetery. Adela Lorena Pattison, 94, died peacefully with her son at her side, Tuesday evening March 18, 2003 at Seneca District Hospital in Chester. Born to Paul and Alice Delessie Ross in the former town of Los Barros, Southern California on March 8, 1909 her family heritage can be directly traced to the Spanish Conquistadors who settled the Southern California area. She was raised in Yorba Linda and is a graduate of Fullerton High School. She went on to receive her Registered Nursing License through Orange County General Hospital. She moved to the Chester/Lake Almanor area in 1953 from Mill Valley, Calif. and was a member of the opening staff of Seneca Health Care District. She served as the only trained surgical nurse in the area for a number of years. She continued to serve those in need for many years following her retirement from the hospital as a home health care nurse. She was a devoted member of the Lake Almanor Community Church and when time permitted enjoyed sewing and knitting. She is preceded in death by her husband David in 1987, son David Jr. in 2001 along with one sister. She is survived by her son Edwin "Ed" Pattison of Chino Hills, Calif.; brother Paul Ross Jr. of Mesa, Ariz.; sister Marguerite Hadley of Eagle Rock, Calif.; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A celebration of Adela's life will take place at 11 a.m., Tuesday March 25, at the Lake Almanor Community Church located on Highway A-13 Lake Almanor. Interment will follow alongside her late husband in the Prattville Cemetery. Guadalupe Camacho Ramirez, 83, died with her family at her side Monday morning March 24, 2003 at her residence in Chester following a courageous battle with cancer. Born to Jose and Maria Diaz Camacho on December 12, 1919 in Jalisco, Mexico she has been a resident of Chester since moving here from Chico in 1978. Although "Lupe" considered herself a devout Catholic and was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Chester she regularly attended the Chester Community United Methodist Church also. She was a member of TOPS the Chester/Lake Almanor WEAVERS and a regular attendee of the Chester Senior Nutrition Program. She enjoyed visiting with friends daily at Dan's Diner over toast and coffee. She is preceded in death her husband Pete, son Lonnie and daughter Linda Myrtle Haley. "Lupe" is survived by her daughter Linda Haley of Chester; brothers Steve "K.C." Camacho of Susanville, "Chewie" Camacho of Sacramento; sister, Mary Farnsworth of Chico eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Following cremation at Fehrman Crematory located in Quincy a celebration of Lupe's life took place on Saturday, March 29 at the Chester Community United Methodist Church. Gary Patterson, 60, died on Saturday, March 22, 2003, at his residence in Janesville. He was born in Pasadena on May 10, 1942, coming from Fresno County and had been a resident of Janesville for the past 15 years. He had worked for the California Department of Forestry for 30 years, retiring 10 years ago, working as a firefighter. He had also been a member of Rotary Club and the B.P.O.E. His main enjoyment was his photography studio, which was Honey Lake Photography. He is survived by his friend, Bobbi Hufferd of Janesville; sister, Judy Harmon of Medford, Ore. and nephew, Michael Price. Services are pending at this time.
Joyce Marie Green, 72, died on Saturday, March 15, 2003. She had been a resident of Herlong since the 1970s. She is survived by her brothers, George Epperson of Sparks, Nev. and Lee Epperson of Westwood. and sister, Patricia Sharp of Doyle. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Doyle Historical Society.
Carol Ann Christiansen, 65, died Feb. 2, 2003, in Sacramento. As she requested, her remains have been cremated. All who knew and loved her are invited to attend a celebration of her life, which will be held at the Graeagle Fire Hall on Saturday, April 12, begining at noon.
Ray G. Marshall, 64, died Monday, March 24, 2003, at his home in Portola. Born May 4, 1938, to George Albert and Blanche (Smith) Marshall in Helper, Utah; Ray moved to Portola with his family in 1945. He graduated from Portola High School in 1957, then served four years in the U.S. Navy. Ray worked for the Western Pacific and Union Pacific Railroad for 35 years, retiring in 2000. He was an avid collector of Western Pacific memorabilia. Ray enjoyed his family, traveling with his wife, camping, fishing, and attending sporting events with his grandchildren. He was a die-hard Oakland Raiders fan. He is survived by his wife, Betty Marshall of Portola; son Robert Marshall Sr., of Beckwourth; daughters, Dianna Marshall of Portola and Karen Grapes of Twin Falls, Idaho; and son Dan Marshall of Franklin, Tenn; brothers, Curtis Marshall of Portola and Gene Marshall of Renton, Wash.; 10 grandchildren, and five nieces and nephews. A private family burial will be held at Shady Grove Cemetery

Lillian G. Piantanida died at her home on March 27, 2003. Lilly was born in Ingram, Pa., a borough of Pittsburgh, Pa., where she attended grade and high school. She received a B.S. degree in microbiology from University of Pittsburgh, attended the University of Cincinnati School of Environmental Health in industrial hygiene, and received a M.P.H. degree from the University of California Berkeley in industrial hygiene. She lived in Reno, Nev., for 13 years and in Piedmont for about 12 years with her husband, where they both worked as industrial hygiene consultants prior to retiring. She also lived in New York City where she worked as technical editor for the International Lead And Zinc Research Organization. Lilly played the violin in many orchestras, most recently with Reno Pops Orchestra, the Carson City Symphony and the Truckee Meadows Community College Orchestra. Lilly is survived by her husband of 25 years, Tom Walker; two sisters, Linda P. Carroll, Ph.D. of Largo, Fla. and Maria E. Piantanida, Ph.D. of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and her mother, Lillian of Pittsburgh, Pa. A mass was celebrated at St. Thomas Aquinas Cathedral on Tuesday, April 1, 2003. In celebration of her love of music, her friends are gathering for a potluck. Drinks will be provided. The conductors of Reno Pops Orchestra, Carson City Symphony and Truckee Meadows Orchestra, will be taking turns in conducting a "Reading Orchestra" for an afternoon of music and friendship at Sparks Masonic Hall on 2425 Pyramid Way, Sparks, Nev., in May. Cedric Eugene Seaman, 87, died March 26, 2003, at Eastern Plumas District Hospital in Portola. Ced was born on Dec. 7, 1915, in Kansas City, Kan. He had been a resident of Portola for the last 24 years, moving there from Sun Valley. He was an assembly line supervisor with Hehr Inc., of Glendale for 25 years. He enjoyed camping, deep sea fishing and photography. Ced is survived by his wife, Lettie of Portola. Graveside inurnment will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2003, at 11 a.m., in Whispering Pines Cemetery
in Portola.
Richard Cottrell, 73, died at Washoe Medical Center in Reno on March 14, 2003. He was born in Depew, Okla., on Feb. 15, 1930, and had been a resident of Susanville for the past 40 years. He had previously lived in the town of Tranquility. Richard was a Pentecostal pastor for many years, most recently at the Indian Church in Susanville. He enjoyed his family, fishing, gardening, and making wooden picture frames. He especially enjoyed his wife Shirley's cooking. He is survived by his wife Shirley of Susanville; two daughters, Sarah Vincent of Fallon, Nev., and Sandra Klinetobe of Riodel; three sons, Leonard of Coalinga, Walter of Eureka, Norman of Fresno; two brothers, Pete of Clear Lake and Don of San Joaquin; five sisters, June Collins of Fresno, Coralee Shelton of Fortuna, Meryl Jones of Homedale, Idaho, Edna Drake of Okla., and Onie Null of Fresno; twenty-one grandchildren, and twenty-six great-grandchildren. Services will be held Wednesday, March 19, at 2 p.m. at Walton's Colonial Chapel with burial to follow at Diamond Crest Cemetery.
Pamela Rae DeCaires Barclay, 57, died at her home in Portola Tuesday, March 11, 2003. She was born Jan. 24, 1946, in Richmond, to Francis and Helen Louise Birdsell DeCaires. She lived in Portola for the past 12 years, moving from Livermore, where she had resided for 20 years. She was a certified nursing assistant in Pleasanton and Livermore and worked at SunBridge Health Care in Quincy. Pamela enjoyed oil painting landscapes and still lifes, and other home crafts. She was a member of Loyalton Assembly of God Church. Survivors include her son, Todd Barclay of Portola; daughter, Tina Marler of Portola; brothers, Michael DeCaires of Coos Bay, Ore., and Jerry DeCaires of Oklahoma; and five grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at the Assembly of God Church in Loyalton on Sunday, March 16. Private inurnment will be held at a later date.
