Adam Murley Oneto, 16, died April 14, 2001, at Stanford Children's Hospital of Cystic Fibrosis. He was a resident of Visalia for the last two years, and had been a resident of Chester for the prior 10 years. Adam was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He is survived by his parents, Duane Roxy and Kristen Marie; brothers, David Scott, William Richard, Benjamin Alma and Garret Joseph; sisters, Julie Theresa, Cynthia Ann, Emily Rose, Elizabeth Claire and Naomi Margaret; and paternal grandmother, Rose Lindquist. Memorial services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Clear Creek Saturday, April 21, at noon. Burial will follow at the Chester Cemetery. Any donations in his memory may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
F.W. "Hap" Gilmore, 87, died April 13, 2001. He was born Nov. 10, 1913, in Puerto Rico, Mo., to Raymond and Ada Gilmore. Hap attended school in Missouri and Oklahoma. He married Janice B. in 1960, who preceded him in death in 1991. Hap worked as a self-employed rice farmer from 1960 until the present. Before that, he worked as an operating engineer on many projects in the Feather River system and the Poe Project. He was a life member of Chico Elks Lodge No. 423 B.P.O.E., a 50-year member of Volcano Masonic Lodge No. 56 F.&A.M. in Volcano, a 40-year member of the Ben Ali Temple of the Shrine of Sacramento, a 40-year member of the Lions Head Shrine Unit of the Ben Ali Shrine, and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 196 of Oroville. Hap was an active 45-year resident of Bucks Lake. He moved to Oroville in 1955 and to Chico in 1985. He is survived by his sons, Dan of Yuma, Ariz., and Jerry of South Dakota; daughter, Bertie Paul of Chico; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held Friday, April 20, at 2 p.m. at the Masonic Family Center, 1110 West East Ave., in Chico. Memorial contributions may be made to Northern California Shriner's Hospital in Sacramento care of Brusie Funeral Home.
Joe Lee Downen, 69, died on Friday, May 21, 2004 at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany, Ind. He was born on Jan. 23, 1935 in Omaha, Ill. To the late Silas E. and Verta (Holland) Downen. He was a long time resident of Janesville. His body was cremated and cremains will be buried next to his parents in the Janesville Cemetery.
Ashley Flores, 16, died on May 27, 2004 at the age of 16. She was born on Jan. 29, 1988 in Fresno. She came to Westwood nine years ago.
She loved to listen to music. She belonged to the FFA and Calvary Chapel youth group. As an older sister she liked to spend time with her brothers and sister, family and friends.
She is survived by her father, Jose and mother Kimberley Flores of Westwood; brothers, Joey and Micah; sister, Sarah; maternal grandparents Paul and Beverly (deceased) Marvin of Fresno; paternal grandparents, Jose (deceased) and Virginia Flores of Fresno; great-grandmother Florence Rice of Fresno, also many uncles, aunts and cousins.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, June 1 at the Lake Almanor Community Church. Burial will be at Belmont Memorial Park in Fresno at a later date.
Daniel Scott Lawrence, 17, died on May 26, 2004 in Westwood. He was born in Hollister on April 20, 1987 and was a Lassen County resident for the past 10 years.
He had currently been enrolled as a junior at Westwood Junior and Senior High School. He was a member of both the varsity basketball team and the FFA. In 2003 he placed the grand champion hog at the Lassen County Fair. He also attended Calvary Chapel in Westwood.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Petie and Larry Richardson of Westwood; father and stepmother, Michael and Kristi Rodriguez of Hollister, Calif.; brother, Mitchell Lawrence of Westwood; sister, Hannah Richardson of Westwood; half-sisters, Kayla and Madison Rodrigues of Hollister; stepsisters, Emily Richardson of Santa Rosa and Blythe Richardson of Ukiah; maternal grandparents, Hershell and Alma Lawrence of Westwood; paternal grandparents, Ron and Diane Rodrigues of Hollister; stepgrandmother, Mary Richardson of Wildomar, Calif; aunt, Debbie Pickering of Medford, Ore.; uncle, Kenny Hill of Westwood; stepaunt, Brenda Shipley of Downey, Calif; stepuncle, Michael Richardson of Laguna Nigel, Calif., numerous cousins and other family members.
Memorial services were held at the Lake Almanor Community Church on Tuesday, June 1. Private interment will be held at Westwood Cemetery.
The family requests that any donations be made in his memory to Plumas Bank branches in either Westwood or Chester to help cover funeral expenses.
Donald Graves, 69, died at his residence in Susanville on May 26, 2004. He was born on Nov. 6, 1934 in Loreville, Iowa and was a Lassen County resident for the past seven years.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, loved to fish as much as he could, was always there to help the homeless, was known as a prankster and had a great sense of humor.
He is survived by his son, Kurt and his wife Vickie Graves of Visalia, Calif.; daughters, Trina and her husband, Joe Klatt of San Mateo, Calif., Teresa and her husband David Pegler of Elk Grove, Calif. and Pam and her husband Chip Bluett of Newman; brothers Bill of Petaluma, Paul of Perry, Iowa and Michael of Lake Tahoe, Calif.; sister, Lucille Land of Englewood, Colo. and 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Family is having a private service in the summer.
Alta Wageman Jensen, 85, died on May 27, 2004 at Banner Lassen Medical Center. She was born on March 3, 1919 in Durham, Calif. She came to Susanville in 1940, from Durham and was a Lassen County resident for the past 64 years. She married Jud Jensen of Susanville in 1941. She taught high school and elementary school in Susanville for 20 years.
She was a member of The First Baptist Church in Susanville, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She liked to read, cook and garden. She was a flower arranger, a certified floral judge, singer, pilot, tennis player, a competitive swimmer, and an accomplished water color artist.
She is survived by her son, Jud B. and his wife Bonnie Jensen of Susanville; daughters, Marianne and her husband John Wedemeyer of San Diego and Holly and her husband John Blackburn of Nanimo, British Columbia, Canada; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and nieces and nephews.
The family is planning private services at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Lassen County Animal Shelter.
Audrey Katherine Hartwell, 68, died early Monday morning May 31, 2004 with her husband and family at her side, at her Lake Almanor Peninsula residence following a valiant battle with kidney failure.
She was born on March 25, 1936 to Wisconsin natives Willard and Irma Davison in Waupun, Wisc. She was raised in the area and is a graduate of Markesan High School class of 1954. Her loving and nurturing personality led her to a fulfilling career as a Registered Nurse graduating from the University of Nevada's Elko Campus in 1981.
She was preceded in death by her sons Rick Broussard in 1994 and Randy Broussard in 1999 along with her sister Lois in 1998.
She is survived by her loving and caring family to include her husband James whom she married October 26, 1969; sons, John Hartwell of Pleasanton, Calif. and Rodney Broussard of Chester; daughters, Holley Perez of Clovis, Calif. and Cheryl Broussard of San Jose; brothers, Gary Northcott and Alan Rassmusan both of Princeton, Wisc.; sisters, Clara Werth of Markesan, Ramona Haima of Stevens Point, Wisc. and Annette Cooper of Fond du Lac, Wisc., along with the joys of her life, her 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life took place on June 5 at the Fehrman Mortuary Chapel in Chester. Interment followed in the Chester District Cemetery. An opportunity to express your condolences along with signing the memorial guest register is available online at fehrmanmortuary.com.

Rubin J. Azbill, 71, died Sunday, April 15, 2001, at Twin Oaks Nursing, in Chico. He was born Jan. 1, 1930, in Los Angeles, and had been a resident of Plumas County for over 50 years. Rubin retired as a truck driver after 40 years. He was last employed with Interstate Trucking. He loved bowling and enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing. Rubin is survived by his son, Craig Thomas of Los Angeles; daughters, Donitta Vieira of Quincy, and Mary Conger of Washington; sisters, Ellen Prosser, Joanna Eckhardt and Betty Baxter, all of Montana; great-aunt, Alice Bryant of Montana; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Following cremation, private family services will be held. The family requests that donations in his memory be made to SunBridge Nursing and Rehabilitation in Quincy, c/o Fehrman Mortuary, P.O. John W. McNamara, 81, died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at his residence in Quincy. He was born Dec. 1, 1919, in Sturgis, S.D., and had been a resident of Quincy since 1946. John retired as a timber faller last employed with M. Holstrom. He is survived by his wife, Lucille, of Quincy; daughter, Kathi Hayes of Chico; and granddaughter, Brandi Derby of Chico. Following cremation at Fehrman Mortuary, private family services will be held at a later date.
