Albert Arroyoacosta Colon, 54, died peacefully at home on Monday, March 15, 2004, with his loving wife at his side. Al, a past Mayor of Marysville and City Councilman, had a lengthy battle with brain cancer for nearly two years.
He worked 27 years in California State service, holding various positions, including chief of adoptions for Department of Social Services, and chief deputy warden at High Desert State Prison in Susanville. He served as a commissioned officer for the U.S. Army for 18 years, receiving numerous awards and commendations, last promoting to the rank of Major.
Al was a devoted husband and father and was kind and caring to all who knew him. He was well known for his laughter, beautiful smile, loving ways, and passion for people. He was especially happy when surrounded by his loving family and friends, and he will be greatly missed by all.
His parents, Felix and Inez Colon, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Pam Chistiansen-Colon; daughter, Rachel Colon, and son, David Brown-Colon.
Memorial donations in his name may be made to University of California San Francisco, Brain Tumor Research Center, UCSF Box 0248, San Francisco, CA 94143-0248.

JACK MEREDITH MCLEOD
Jack Meredith McLeod, 82, died with family at his side, Wednesday July 21, 2004 at the Long Term Care Unit of Seneca Health Care District in Chester.
He was born to Wasco County, Ore. pioneers George and Ruby (Selleck) McLeod in The Dalles, Oregon on April 15, 1922. He was raised in Maupin and graduated from Maupin High School as a member of the class of 1941. Following his high school graduation he joined the U.S. Navy serving during World War II in the Asia-Pacific theatre. He returned to his hometown following his discharge from the military in 1946 to establish and run for more than 50 years McLeod Clothing Store, later to become Speciality Distributors, located in Maupin Ore. Ill health required him to leave his home town community in May of 2002 to reside in Chester.
He was active in politics as a longtime member of the Wasco County Republican Committee. He had been a member of the Maupin Lions Club, a lifetime member of the Maupin American Legion Post 73, member of the Wasco County Pioneer Association, and the local Red Cross chapter.
McLeod had been a member of the Maupin Community Church since 1949 and was a member of Gideon International. He enjoyed antique automobiles along with racecars and boats.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty years Ruth in 1998 and sister Marcia in 1971.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Sharon and William Cheek of Lake Almanor, three grandchildren, six great grandchildren along with two nephews.
A celebration of life took place on Monday July 26, at the Maupin Community Church in Maupin, Ore., followed by interment in the family plot of the Kelly Cemetery, Maupin, Oregon. An opportunity to sign the memorial guest register along with expressing your condolences is available online at www.fehrmanmortuary.com.
The family suggests any donations in McLeod's memory be made to either the Long Term Care Unit of Seneca Health Care District, or the Maupin Community Church c/o Fehrman Mortuary and Crematory P.O. Box 803 Greenville, CA 95947.

CAROL ANN HAGERTY
Carol Ann Hagerty, 61, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, in Redding. She was born Feb. 1, 1943, in Seattle, Wash.
Hagerty is survived by her three children Douglas Pearsall, Suzanne Tanton and Danielle Mitchell, of Susanville; sister Eileen Patterson, of Wash., and 12 grandchildren.
Services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 10 at the Susanville Christian Fellowship and a private inurnment will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Crossroads Ministries at 2410 Main St., 251-0701.

RICHARD THOMAS LISMAN
Richard Thomas Lisman, 69, died Saturday, Oct. 30, in Susanville. He was born May, 13, 1936, in Long Beach.
Lisman is survived by step-son and daughter-in-law Rick and Tammy Harsh; and two grandchildren.

KAREN LEE TOMBERLIN
Karen Lee Tomberlin, 50, died Saturday, Oct. 30 in Susanville. She was born March 26, 1954.
Tomberlin is survived by Ryan Tomberlin, of Westwood; brother John Scott and sister Carol Occhuizzo.
Memorial services were held Saturday, Nov. 6, at Crossroads Ministry in Susanville.

ALVA RICHARD MCCLELLAND
Alva Richard McClelland, 76, died in Dayton, N.Y. on July 7, 2004. He was born in  West Virginia on Jan. 20, 1928 to J.W. McClelland and Emma G. Vanderhoff.
He married Betty Childers on May 27, 1972 in Carson City, Nev. He lived in Dayton, Nev. for the past year coming from Janesville. He retired after 20 years from the U.S. Navy as a chief petty officer. He then went to work for U.C. hospital in San Francisco as a stationery engineer and retired after 20 years. He served the U.S. Navy during World War II, Vietnam and the Korean Conflict.
He loved bird watching, flowers and gardening. He enjoyed fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Greg Powers.
He is survived by his wife, Betty McClelland of Datyon; sons, Wayne Powers of Dayton and Leary Powers of Lovelock, Nev.; daughter, Diana Malekos and her husband Norm of Dayton; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life was held at the Dayton Valley Community Church in Dayton on July 17. Pastor Jim Richardson presided. Graveside service was held at Diamond Crest Cemetery in Susanville on July 18.

HOMER LOWDEN VINCENT
Homer Lowden Vincent, 80, died on July 16, 2004. He was born in Susanville on Aug. 14, 1923 to Clarence Homer Vincent and Edith Long. He was married to Barbara Evans, who died last year. The majority of his working life was with Sears, although he also spent some time self-employed in the motel business.
He is survived by two children, Charles Homer Vincent and his wife Sarah of Fallon and Linda Lee and her husband John Blevins of Reno. He is also survived by four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He will be buried next to his wife at the Janesville Cemetery.

KATHLEEN MARIE KRINGLER
Kathleen (Katie) Marie Kringler, 55, died on July 8, 2004, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on April 27, 1949.
She is survived by her loving husband, Joe Kringler, daughters Beth Kringler, and Kelly and her husband Anthony Campa.
Services are pending and are to be held in the state of California.
