ELEANOR JOANNE PATTERSON-WEBER
Eleanor Joanne Patterson-Weber was born Nov. 29, 1937, died Oct. 19, 2004. Eleanor was preceded in death by her daughter Helen Willis, mother Mildred Look, husband Ken Weber, father Harry Look and sister Judith Hull.
The 67-year-old Eleanor had made Janesville her new home after leaving the Vancouver, Wash. area two years before. She moved to be closer to her family, buying land and setting up a home next door to her daughter and son-in-law, Cindie and Steve Libke.
Eleanor's love and passion for her animals showed in her caring hands to many horses, dogs and cats. Eleanor was also a gifted artist. She loved to oil paint and loved Indian art and culture. When Eleanor died, her youngest son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Colleen were visiting from the east coast.
On Sunday and Monday she gathered with children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren for early Thanksgiving dinners. On Tuesday she spent the day very happily visiting her family and having a good time. In the afternoon she went outside to feed her horses, later came in and sat down to rest. Within a few minutes, she quietly fell into eternal sleep.
Eleanor will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her children son: Tom Willis and wife Lori, of Redway; daughter Cindie Libke and husband Steve, of Janesville; son Erick Patterson and wife Chandra, of Sparks, Nev.; daughter Sandy McMahon and husband Tom, of Sparks, Nev.; son Gary Patterson and wife Colleen, of Greer, S.C.; granddaughter Karina Bettencourt and husband Jym; grandchildren Joshua, Nathan, Tom, Andrew, Aulton, Dustin, Reese, Tiana and one very special great-grandchild Cinder.

JUANITA M. CARRARO
Juanita M. Carraro passed away Thursday, Oct. 14, at Banner Lassen Medical Center at the age of 69. She was born on May 17, 1935 in Davidson, Ark., and had been a Lassen County resident for the past 64 years, coming from Arkansas when she was five years old.
Juanita was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was very involved with the Caring and Sharing program, she was also a very close friend to all whom she met. She was very well known in Susanville for her baking and cooking, all who tasted her cookies and cakes really enjoyed them. She found her greatest joy in the time she spent with her family and she was very active in the lives of her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters Marilynn and her husband Brian Richard, of Susanville, Janette and her husband Douglas Cox, of Lakeport; grandchildren Derek and Brett Cox, Justin and Jessica Richard.
There was a Memorial Rosary Tuesday, Oct. 19 at Sacred Heart Church, with a Memorial Mass on Wednesday, Oct. 20. Juanita will be buried next to her husband Armando at a private family service at a later date.

HENRIETTE S. ALWAY
Henriette S. Alway, a life-long resident of Susanville, died last Friday morning, March 10, 2006, a the Susanville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center at the age of 85. She was born in the Willow Creek Valley, the second daughter and child of the late John and Anne Hagata, the founders of the Hagata Ranch, on April 11, 1920.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years Fred, of Susanville; her daughter Karyn and her husband Bill Galetto, of Baldwin, Md.; her son Jay and his wife Robin Alway, of Redmond, Ore.; grandchildren Timothy Galetto, of Phoeniz, Md., Stacey Galetto, of Seattle, Wash., and Greg and Kim Alway, of Redmond; her sister Marie C. Simmons, of Susanville; her brother Frank Hagata, of Willow Creek Valley, and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Josephine Hagata Haws and Marcel Hagata.
A graduate of Lassen High School, class of 1938, Henriette spent many years of her adult life working in the community. During World War II she was employed by the Paul Bunyan Lumber Company. She later worked for Wemple's Clothing Store and the late C.I. Burnett, M.D., family physician. She retired after several years of employment at the Lassen County Office of Education. She was life-long member of the Susanville Parlor of the Native Daughters of the Golden West and the Sacred Heart Church.
A memorial service was held on Friday, March 17 at the Sacred Heart Church in Susanville. Inurnment followed at the family plot in Diamond Crest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in her memory to either the Lassen Humane Society, P.O. Box 1575, Susanville or the Lassen High School Alumni Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 471, Susanville.

LEOTA HALVETIA MILLER
Longtime Susanville resident Leota Halvetia Miller passed from this life peacefully Thursday morning, March 9, 2006 at Susanville Nursing and Rehabilitation located in Susanville,  Calif.
She was born 97 years ago in Kellyville, Okla., to the late Hiram and Alice Bishop on Aug. 22, 1908. At the age of six months she and her family relocated to Redding,  Calif. Here she was raised and educated graduating from Redding High School as a member of the class of 1926.
She met and later on Sept. 6, 1933, married the love of her life, the late Susanville businessman Robert Miller and to this union a son and daughter were born. The family moved to Susanville in 1941 from Oroville,  Calif.
Leota was a loving and caring wife and mother who dedicated her adult life to the care of her family. She was an accomplished seamstress who enjoyed sewing and crocheting and gained pleasure in tending to her yard and garden.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years Robert in 1994, along with her sisters Agnes, Alice and Hazel.
Leota leaves in passing her daughter Ruth Ann Miller, of Long Beach,  Calif.; son Darrel and his wife Cathy Miller, of Susanville and eight precious grandchildren.
Private family graveside services will take place in the Diamond Crest Cemetery as she is laid to rest alongside her late husband. Cremation took place locally at Fehrman Crematory.

PEGGY L. THOMSON
Peggy L. Thomson, of Madeline,  Calif., passed away in Alturas on March 2, 2006. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 11, 2006, at the LDS Church in Alturas. Interment followed at the Likely Cemetery with refreshments at the Madeline Fire Hall.
Born Peggy L. McDaniel on April 24, 1927, in Cove, Ark., her family moved to Albuquerque, N.M., where she attended high school and then Portland, Ore., where she graduated from high school. She remained in Portland during her adult life.
A warm and loving person, expert seamstress and quilter, Mrs. Thomson was proud to serve as the president of the Relief Society while living in Portland. She was also a genealogy buff. She and her husband of 17 years, Orion L. Thomson, have made Madeline their home since their marriage Nov. 27, 1988 in Sacramento,  Calif.
She was preceded in death by her eldest daughter Eupha Lynn, of Alaska.
She is survived by her husband, Orion L. Thomson, of Madeline; her mother Violet E. McDaniel, of Shelton, Wash.; three children, Yvonne Willers, of Sparks, Nev., Sharon Danner, of Shady Cove, Ore., Thomas Thomson, of Fremont,  Calif.; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Lee V. McDaniel, of Madeline, Billie R. McDaniel, of Portland, and Paul T. McDaniel, of Auburn,  Calif.; two sisters, Zetta Wike, of Sacramento, and Mary Radziski, of Shelton, Wash.; and many nieces and nephews.

THELMA FRANCES CLARK
Thelma Frances Clark, 85, a long-time resident of Susanville,  Calif., passed away Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, at the home of her daughter, Patsy Agee, in Alexandria, La.
Thelma, daughter of Charles and Ethel Bekeart, was a life-long resident of California who was born in Los Angeles on Sept. 15, 1920. A fourth generation Californian, she was the great-granddaughter of Jules Francois Bekeart, a California Gold Rush pioneer and gunsmith whose store is a historic site located in Gold Discovery Park near Sutters Mill,  Calif. She was a member of the Daughters of California Pioneers. During high school she started a club of 13 friends that lasted more than 45 years. Those who knew Thelma knew how much she loved baseball. A life-long California Angels fan, she saw all the great players.
In 1984 she moved to Susanville and quickly came to love fishing and the beautiful areas of Northern California.
Most of all, she loved her family who will always miss her.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years Robert F. Clark and infant granddaughter Valerie Lithgow.
She is survived by her daughters Carol Byers, of Susanville, Patsy Agee, of Alexandria, La., Cheryl Gushue, of Susanville, Roberta Sumerlin, of Clackamas, Ore.; her grandchildre Denise Phillips, Diane Boyles, Julie Byers, Aimee Thompson, Christopher Deford, Daniel Byers, Jr., Jacy Bell, Angela Overstone, Robert Agee, Danny Blasic, Justin Byers, Tony Lithgow, Victoria Lithgow, Josh Matot, Troy Matot and Ian Matot. She is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren; a cousin Laura Jacobs, 93, of San Francisco; numerous nieces and nephews and several childhood friends.
