MILDRED IRENE BUSSER
Mildred Irene Busser, 81, died Tuesday, Jan. 18 in Redding,  Calif. She was born in Burneyville, Okla., on July 26, 1923.
She is survived by her daughter Linda and her husband Robert Tweddell of Susanville; granddaughter Lisa and her husband Bruce Morris of Redding; grandson Richard and his wife Marian of Susanville; sister Burney Henry of Corsicana,  Texas; great-grandchildren Megan, Katie, Robert, Mitchell and Jesse.
A service was held on Saturday, Jan. 22 at the Diamond Crest Cemetery.

MELVIN Carter ASHMORE
Melvin Carter Ashmore, 73, died Wednesday, Jan. 12. He was born Oct. 4, 1931.
He is survived by his wife Linda Ashmore of Seattle, Wash. and three brothers: Bill of Susanville, Alan of East Wenatchee, Wash. and Dave of Payson, Ariz.
A funeral service was held Wednesday, Jan. 18 in Coolidge, Ariz.

DONNEL RAY RAKER
Donnel Ray Raker, 76, died Tuesday, Jan. 11 in his home in Santa Rosa,  Calif. He was born in Susanville on July 10, 1928.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary S. Raker; daughters Mary and her husband George Malkemus of Cotati,  Calif., Danielle Poole of Loveland,  Colo., Sarah of Oakland,  Calif. and Adrienne of Santa Rosa,  Calif.; brothers Lee of Cheyenne, Wyo. and John and his wife Maria of Gardnerville, Nev.; sister Jean and her husband Ed Mentaberry of McDermitt, Nev. and five grandchildren.
A service will be held at 2 p.m. on Jan. 29, at the Santa Rosa Golf and Country Club. Donations can be made to the University of Nevada, Reno, Nevada Alumni Association, Morrill Hall, or the State Farm Scholarship fund.

MARGARET PHILMORE BORRELLI
Margaret Philmore Borrelli, 88, died Tuesday, Jan. 11 in Janesville. She was born April 26, 1916, in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Margaret is survived by Francis Anthony Borrelli, of Dallas,  Texas and Lisa Williams of Janesville.
She was preceded in death by Barbara Ann Talarino, of Dallas,  Texas.
She is to be buried in Hayward,  Calif., next to her husband.

DR. WALTER H. SPUEHLER D.D.S.
Walter H. Spuehler died at his home in Paradise,  Calif. on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005.
He was born to Walter and Lois Spuehler on July 6, 1928 in Stockton,  Calif.
Walter graduated from Lodi Academy in 1947, Pacific Union College in 1955 and Loma Linda Dental School in 1959. During this time he also served two years in the U.S. Army during WWII.
Dr. Spuehler had a private practice and worked for the State of California in Susanville for a total of 15 years before retiring to Paradise 12 years ago.
He was a member of Paradise Upper Ridge Seventh Day Adventist Church, the Men’s Garden Club, California Dental Association and the Loma Linda Dental Association.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years Annette Spuehler of Paradise,  Calif.; sons Marty Spuehler of San Diego,  Calif., Jeff Spuehler of Monterey Bay,  Calif., and stepson David Reeves of Reno, Nev.; daughters Joan Goodwin of Michigan, Brenda Sherriffs of Monterey Bay,  Calif.; stepdaughters Sherry Wentland of Paradise,  Calif., Judi Silvestri of Paradise,  Calif., and Jolene Strauss of Magalia,  Calif.; sister Gwyn Spuehler of Angwin,  Calif. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, four step grandchildren, and two step great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his first wife Joy of Susanville in 1987.
A private family memorial service will be held at his request.
Interment will be in Paradise Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Three Angels Network of Voice of Prophecy.

THOMAS WHITE
Tom  White (aka “TW”), a WWII Veteran and real estate developer, was born Jan. 13, 1919 in Maude,  Texas, passed through to the heavens in the early morning of Jan. 6, 2005 at the fine age of 85 after a long battle with cancer. A special Thank you to Vista Care Hospice for all their help. Tom is survived by his wife of 40 years, Geraldine (Jerri), one brother and his family, four children and their families and grandchildren. A service will be postponed until spring, at which time a private gathering at Thompson Peak in Janesville,  Calif. will take place with family and friends. Tom will be remembered by many for his quick wit and generosity.

TERRY LEON COOLEY
Terry Leon Cooley, age 54, passed away Jan. 8 at his home in Lakeport. He was born in Tulsa, Okla. on Jan. 1, 1951. He had lived in Lake County for 3-1/2 years.
Terry attended high school at Hiram  Johnson High in Sacramento. After graduating, he worked different jobs until starting his 11 years in construction as a cement mason. In October 1984 he started with the Department of Corrections. Throughout the next 20 years he worked at several state prisons including Solano, Folsom, and High Desert and then Lake County into Konocti Conservation Camp in April 2001.
Terry worked hard and played hard. He spent several years restoring his ’51 Chevy, then enjoyed going to car shows or just cruising in his truck. But, the true passion of his life was his bike. There was nothing he liked or looked forward to more than getting on his Harley and just riding.
He is survived by his loving wife, Julie Anne Cooley of Lakeport; daughter, Rachel Cooley of Montana.; stepsons, Nick Albonico of  Calif. and Marc Alonico of Colorado; parents, Richard and Elois Cooley of Sacramento; sister, Vickie Cooley and her fiancée Bill Soto of Lakeport; and brother and sister-in-law Darrell and Shari Cooley of Sacramento.
Memorial Services were on Saturday, Jan. 15 at Lakeport Christian Center.
Family assisted by  Jones Mortuary, Lakeport, 707-263-5389.

LOIS LORRAINE HELMAN
Lois Lorraine Helman, age 78, died January 7, 2005 at her daughter’s residence in Fernley, Nev.
She was born April 1, 1926 in Lindsay, Okla. to Hardy S. and Fay Tarwater Britton, and had lived in Susanville,  Calif. since 1949.
In 1968 she married her late husband, William Helman. He died in 1978.
She was a retired secretary, having worked for the U.S. Forest Service in Susanville.
She is survived by her daughter, Naomi Flowers of Fernley, Nev., and a son, Ben Grant, of Susanville; a sister Isabelle Gardenheir, of Chowchilla,  Calif.; and a brother, Larry Britton, of Goldendale, Wash.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services were held on Friday, January 14 at the Diamondcrest Cemetery in Johnstonville,  Calif., under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home in Fallon, Nev.
