DOROTHY M. EHLY
Dorothy M. Ehly, born May 26, 1915, in San Francisco,  Calif., left our world to join her husband J.C. and grandson Dereck in God's house on Wednesday, March 23, 2005.
We will miss the sweet little lady with the sparkling, talking eyes who loved her hats, animals, blue skies, milkshakes, rides in the country, fishing, her children and family. She loved to sing and visit her friends on Clement Street where she managed an apartment building for many years while living in San Francisco.
Dorothy and J.C. spent their lives together in Susanville,  Calif. the past 12 years.
She is survived by her children Robert and Edie Di Piero, Bill and Janice Di Piero, Francis Di Piero, and Diana and David Podva; grandchildren David, Bob, Karen, Kathy, Karri and three step-grand-children and many great and great-great -grandchildren; sister-in-law and cherished friend Vida Dowden; niece Marty; great-nephew Ryan and many other nieces and nephews in Susanville.
A celebration of both Dorothy and J.C.'s life's will be celebrated by her family at a later date. Her family wishes to thank the Susanville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center staff for their love and care of both Dorothy and J.C.
Donations in Dorothy's memory can be made to the Susanville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 2005 River St., Susanville, CA. 96130.

STERLING CHANDLER
Sterling Chandler passed away on March 18, 2005 at the Washoe Medical Center, in Reno, Nev., at the age of 77, following a long illness.
He was born at Blackburn Creek, Ark. on April 23, 1927 and moved to Lassen County during the Depression.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Catherine Chandler, of Johnstonville; sisters, Gladys Locke, Sanka Hood, May Bales, Ruth Young, Norma Brown, Mary Ann Doyle and Marie Chandler; brothers Fred Chandler and Phillip Chandler; son and daughter-in-law Sterling and Ronnie Chandler; daughter Lois A. Chandler; step-daughters Mary A.  Whiteaker and her husband John, Anna M. Stone and her husband James and Pierette Etcheverry; 13 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Carrie Chandler; parents Levi and Hannah Chandler; brothers James Chandler, Cookie Chandler, David Herrington and Virgil Herrington.
Sterling worked as a timber faller in the local timber industry, and had been an avid rock hound since his retirement.
Catholic services were held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on March 22. Interment followed at the Diamond Crest Cemetery.

ARTHUR JAMES BRUGGERMAN JR.
Arthur James Bruggerman Jr., 83, died on Sunday, March 20, 2005, at Banner Lassen Medical Center, in Susanville,  Calif. She was born on December 2, 1921, in DeKalb, Ill.
He is survived by his daughter Susan Barrass, of Cotati,  Calif.; son-in-law Ira Barrass, of Cotati,  Calif.; daughter, Dorothy Garrelts, of Susanville; son-in-law, Jeff Murphy, of Susanville; three grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, in Wyoming and Nebraska. He is preceded by his wife, Nancy Lee.
There will be a memorial service at a later date.

DONALD SANFORD BABB
Donald Sanford Babb, 76, died on Monday, March 21, 2005, at the Susanville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on March 25, 1928, in Ferndale, Wash.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn, of Greendale; sons and daughters-in-law Jim and Naomi Babb, Tom and Lynn Babb and Steve and Catie Babb; daughters and sons-in-laws Donna and Steve Shelly, Laurlet and Mark Pettit, Kathleen and Chris Moore, Zenda and Dale Evans; daughter-in-law Pam Aberg; brother Ray Babb, sisters Julia Robinson, Darlene Crandall, Galdys Anthony, Betty Sandquist, Jaquee Gardner; sister-in-law Paula Key (deceased); daughter-in-law Betty Norberg, 21 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service is planned for April 2 at 3 p.m., at the Greenville Adventist Church.

HELEN BERNICE FULENWIDER
Helen Bernice Fulenwider, 79, died on March 24, 2005. She was born on March 14, 1926, in Marlow, Okla.
She is survived by her husband Edward Fulenwider of 58 years; her daughters Ilene Bernal, of Lakewood,  Colo. and Marlaine Reilly, or Shingle Springs,  Calif.; sons David Fulenwider, of Golden,  Colo. and Karl Fulenwiderr, of Colfax,  Calif.; eleven grandchildren and one great-grandson.
There was a viewing on March 28 at Walton's Chapel. She was buried at Diamond Mountain Cemetery.

PATRICIA L. CHILD
Patricia L. Child was born on May 24, 1940, in Fullerton,  Calif. She passed away in Susanville on Monday, March 14, 2005, at the age of 64. She was a resident of Lassen County for 30 years, coming from Fullerton,  Calif.
Patricia was a pioneering woman and a skilled carpenter; she loved the outdoors, gardening, rock work and was not afraid of any challenge that came her way.
She was skilled in all crafts, loved to plan family events and gatherings, liked to read, cherished her time with her family and was a devoted wife to Glen for 44 years.
She is survived by her husband Glen, of Susanville,  Calif.; sons and daughters-in-law Dennis and Nancy Child, of Doyle,  Calif. and Dona and Sherry Child, of Portola,  Calif.; daughter and sons-in-law Valorie and Refugio Delgado, of Susanville,  Calif., daughter Victoria Child, of Susanville,  Calif.; brother Earl Arns, of Nevada; sister and brother-in-law Judith and Jim Schlotthauer, of Fullerton,  Calif.; sister Elizabeth Arns, of Huntington Beach,  Calif.; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
There will be a memorial service at 11 a.m., on Friday, March 25, at Walton's Colonial Chapel. Burial will be at a later date.

LOWELL COLLINS BERNARD
Lowell Collins Bernard passed from life, Monday March 14, 2005. He was surrounded by loving family, in the comfort of his home. Lowell's 80 years have been marked by remarkable accomplishments.
In 1948, while still a student at the University of Nevada, Reno, Lowell began working part time for the accounting firm of Kafoury and Armstrong Company. He became partner in 1959, the same year he earned his CPA certificate.
Later, as a managing partner, he oversaw the organization's growth into a statewide firm. During his 54 years in accounting, he has served as president of the Nevada Society of CPA's and Nevada State Board of Accountancy.
He was also a member of the American Institute of CPA's and served as a delegate to that body. He served as past chairman of the Governor's Study Committee on Education in Nevada, member of the Public Finance Blue Ribbon Task Force Committee, Chair, and member of numerous boards of directors.
In 1978, Lowell received the coveted Mountain States Conference "Outstanding Service Award" for dedication and commitment to the community, state and profession. In recognition of Lowell's significant achievements contributing to the advancement of our state and nation and for exceptional service, Lowell was awarded the Distinguished Nevadan Award in 1995.
A native of Yerington, Lowell comes from a long line of Nevadans. (His paternal grandmother was the first white child born in Mason Valley). He graduated from Carson High School, attended Stanford University, University of  Washington, Naval Reserve Officers' Training, Williamette University and graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno.
For generations to come, University of Nevada, Reno, medical students, nursing students and this country's elderly can thank L. C. Bernard for being the instrumental force in securing one of the largest gifts for the University of Nevada, Reno and in the history of the entire state. This tremendous gift will be used for many lifetimes to support the research and teaching of improving the quality of life for the elderly. From this generous gift from the Graham and Jean Sanford estate, The Sanford Center for Aging has been created to enrich the lives of the elderly. The University of Nevada, Reno honored him with the Alumnus of the Year Award in 1994.
A loving, kind and generous man, "Papa's" memory will be treasured by his wife of 56 years Billie Kennedy Bernard; son Brett and wife Jean; daughter Brandis; granddaughters Carlye, Kali, Brianna, and Heidi; sister Norma Cain; a nephew, nieces, and various other loving family members. Lowell will also be fondly remembered by many cherished friends and colleagues.
The family would like to express special appreciation to Circle of Life Hospice, in particular the most extraordinary hospice nurse, Pam Head. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Circle of Life and/or The General Scholarship Fund, University of Nevada, Reno.
Family and friends attended a memorial service and celebration of life at Hidden Valley Country Club, on Sunday March 20, 2005.
