JOHNATHAN KING QUERY
Johnathan King Query, 19, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007.
He was born on March 12, 1988 in Reno, Nev.
He is survived by his mother and father Scott and Chi Query, of Susanville,  Calif.; brother, Michael and sister, Melissa.
The family is holding private services.

BILLY EUGENE "GENE" ATKINSON
Billy Eugene “Gene” Atkinson, known too many as “Papa Gene," passed away Tuesday Feb. 14, 2006 at the age of 71. He was born August 17, 1934, in El Dorado, Ark. to Vernon and Josephine Atkinson. He was one of 12 children.
In 1953 Gene made his way to Westwood,  Calif. where he soon met Sharon Coleman. Gene and Sharon married Aug. 20, 1955 in Reno, Nevada. They made their home in Westwood.
That same year Gene went to work for Collins Pine in Chester, California. After 38 years there, he decided it was time to retire. But retirement life wasn't for Gene, he soon found himself at Medici Logging. He worked for them up until his death.
In Gene's spare time, when he wasn't fishing, he found time to coach his sons' baseball team, play basketball and even race stock cars.
Gene was a volunteer firefighter for the Westwood Fire Department. He was the first ever Fireman of the Year in 1955.
Gene is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sharon, sons Rusty Atkinson, of Susanville, Mike Atkinson of Westwood, Alan Atkinson of Westwood, and Jeff ( and wife Jill) Atkinson of Susanville. Grandchildren, Christopher, Cameron, Brittany, Jacob and Jordan. Great grandchildren, Madison and Merilyn, plus another one on the way who's to be named, Eugene James, after his Papa. He is also survived by his brother Herman, of Arkansas and sister Faye also, of Arkansas.
A memorial service will be held at 11a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Clear Creek,  Calif.

JOHN THOMAS DOYLE
John Thomas Doyle, fondly known as JT, passed away Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006, in Sacramento, at the age of 76, with his family at his side.
John was a descendant of Irish immigrants who settled in Milford around 1860. He was born in Susanville, Aug. 11, 1929, to parents Clem and Dorothy, who had started an automobile business just four years earlier. The 81-year-old Ford store was John's passion. He loved to make car deals.
A graduate of Lassen High School in 1947, John attended the University of Nevada at Reno and later joined the United States Army where he served as a corporal in the Military Police. He married Carol in 1953 and soon after they were stationed in Panama.
JT hired on tough with a group of guys who enjoyed the out-of-doors. John spent many seasons fishing mountain streams, hunting on Skedaddle Mountain, and bird hunting in the valley.
John most often enjoyed his time with the family at Silver Lake where he untangled fishhooks and encouraged eager water skiers. Winters found him de-icing cars and loading ski racks at Lake Tahoe.
Over the years, John served on the Ford Dealer Advertising Council, was a past president of the Susanville Rotary Club, a past exalted ruler of the Susanville Elks and was elected to two terms on the Lassen Union High School Board of Education.
John is survived by his wife of 53 years Carol; son Jeff; daughter-in-law Page; grandsons Spencer, Alex and Parker, of Granite Bay; daughter Jenny, of Granite Bay; son Randy and his wife Heidi; granddaughter Sydney, of Carmichael; and brother Phil and his wife Carol, of Rossmoor.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, Feb. 24, 2006, at the United Methodist Church in Susanville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Cancer Center in memory of John Doyle at the Sutter Medical Center Foundation, 2800 L Street, Suite 620, Sacramento, CA 95816, suttermedicalcenter.org.

JACK ELMER CARRICK
Jack Elmer Carrick, of Rossmoor, died Dec. 2, 2005. He was born on April 14, 1925, at the Carrick family home in Rice Canyon, Lassen County,  Calif.
He was the youngest of six children, born to Willard Phillip Carrick and Jessie Sarah Gerking. He attended local schools and graduated from Lassen Union High School in Susanville, with the class of 1942. He then moved to Oakland, where he lived and attended U.C. Berkeley. Jack met Gladys Sorber while they were both attending U.C. Berkeley After graduating they were married.
Jack was an insurance underwriter in San Francisco and Gladys was a chemist. They enjoyed many activities together for 57 years. They loved music, bowling and traveling around the world. Jack studied history, guitar playing and speaking Spanish. He loved reading and visiting and dining with family and friends.
Jack's wife preceded him in death in 2001. He is survived by sister Aileen Acord, of Burney, and his nieces Jessie Edwards and her husband Tom, of Lake Almanor; Margaret Thayer and her husband Douglas, of Alturas; son Michael Acord and his wife Nancy, of Anderson,  Calif.; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service was held.

ARIETTA DELORES GUITIEREZ
Arietta Delores Guitierez passed away at her home in the early morning hours on Feb. 10, 2006. Known to the local community as "Dee" Guitierez, She was born in Arkansas and came to Susanville in 1940 making this community her home for more than 60 years.
A prominent long-time resident and avid horsewoman, Dee and her husband Leo, bred and raised Appaloosa horses and showed them at the local and surrounding county fairs, taking Grand Champion class awards for many years. Dee was very active in both the Native American and local communities.
She was involved in Indian Education, J.O.M., Lassen County American Indian Organization, Honey Lake Valley Riders, Lassen High School and attended Lassen Community College. Dee was also very active with the local government such as the Board of Supervisors and the City Council as well as being an instrumental part in the development of Susanville Ranch Park, siting on the development committee.
There is no way Dee's life and accomplishments can be summed up in just a few short sentences. Her strength of character and unrelenting will to help make Susanville a stronger community will be greatly missed.
Dee is survived by her husband Leo Guitierez; sisters Ada Bryant and Paula Guitierez, of Concord,  Calif.; son Myron Miller; granddaughter Myra Miller; great-grandchilren Leah Miller and Andrea Miller; many nieces and nephews, such as Deana Bovee, Felicia Buriel and Laura Guitierez-Urmson and many more, all of Susanville.
Services were held Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006, at the Joaquin Memorial Gym. Dee was laid to rest at the Lassen County Cemetery directly following services.

ELIZABETH MARTHA VINCENT METHVIN
Elizabeth Martha Vincent Methvin, 90, died Feb. 15, 2006 at the Life Care Center in Cheyenne, Wyo.
She was born Sept. 12, 1915, in Lincoln, Ala.
She was retired from the California State Forestry Service and lived in Susanville for 50 years.
Methvin is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Mallery of Cheyenne; three sisters, Bernice Wier of Leeds, Ala., Marjorie Presley, and Mary Blake of Nashville, Tenn.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Methvin was preceded in death by her husband, Romain A. Methvin; her parents, Thomas and Willie Vincent; four brothers, Arthur Vincent, Jim Vincent, Ernest Vincent and Ray Vincent; two sisters, Grace Butler and Evelyn McGhee; and one great-grandchild.
Memorial services were held at the Blue Eye Baptist Church in Lincoln with the Rev. Harold Hazel officiating.
Interment will be in Blue Eye Cemetery in Lincoln.
Cremation has taken place.
