MARILYN "MICKIE" HANSEN
Susanville resident Marilyn "Mickie" Hansen passed away Jan. 31, 2006, at Washoe Medical Center from injuries sustained in an auto accident on Jan. 30.
Mickie, as her family called her, was born on Jan. 19, 1945, in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Wayne and Mary Knauff. The family lived in Salmon, Idaho until Mickie was 5 and then moved to Paradise,  Calif. She attended Paradise Adventist School through all eight elementary school years.
Her high school years were spent at Monterey Bay Academy where she graduated in 1963. Her college education was obtained at Pacific Union College, La Sierra College and Loma Linda University where she graduated in 1967 with a bachelors of science degree in dental hygiene.
Mickie met her future husband Larry Hansen, while attending Monterey Bay Academy and they later became engaged while attending La Sierra College. They married on Sept. 11, 1966.
She practiced dental hygiene in San Bernardino until husband Larry graduated from Loma Linda School of Dentistry in 1971. They spent a year working in Canada, along the British Columbia coast, before moving to the Woodland,  Calif., area in 1972 where they operated their own dental practice until 1984. They then continued to work in private practice in Sacramento until moving to Susanville in 2004. Mickie worked in Susanville as a dental hygienist for Drs. Linda and Curtis Vixie and their associate Dr. Veryl Drury.
Mickie had a lifelong love of bicycling, traveling, gardening, skiing, reading and just about anything in the great outdoors. However, one of her greatest joys was spending time with her two granddaughters, Daitarih, 2-1/2, and Phyllis, 8 months. She was a member of the Lassen County Dental Hygiene Association and Laueate Theta Psi Sorority.
Mickie was preceded in death by her parents Wayne and Mary Knauff.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years Dr. Larry Hansen, of Susanville; sons Jereme, of Vancouver, Wash., Jason and his wife Tobreth, along with their daughters Daitarih and Phyllis, of San Jose; brothers Daryl and his wife Stelle, of Sequim, Wash.; Roger and his wife Gale, of Grants Pass, Ore; brothers and sisters-in-law Floyd and Rose Hansen, of Susanville; Don and Michelle Hansen, of Plymouth, Mass.; and Darlene Hansen, of Dawsonville, Ga. Also surviving are seven nephews and three nieces plus numerous much-loved aunts, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of her life was held at the Susanville Seventh-day Adventist Church on Feb. 9, 2006, with long-time family friend, Dick Matthews, of Woodland officiating. A second memorial celebration will be held Feb. 18, in Woodland.

FRANK LOUIS BROADY
Longtime Susanville resident Frank Louis Broady peacefully passed from this life early Tuesday morning, Feb. 7, 2006, at Washoe Medical Center located in Reno, Nev., with his family at his side.
Born 79 years ago in Gold Hill, Nevada to the late Louis and Edith Broady on April 17, 1926, at the age of two the family moved to Susanville,  Calif. where Frank has been a resident ever since. A member of the Lassen High School graduating class of 1944 he entered the armed forces immediately following his graduation.
Frank served his country honorably as a hospital corpsman throughout the Pacific during the final days of World War II.
Upon returning to Susanville following his discharge, Frank began a long and fulfilling career with Safeway stores, retiring as their produce manager after 32 years of loyal service to the company. Frank took great pride in providing the best selection and freshest fruits and vegetables to the shoppers of the area.
On Sept. 14, 1952 Frank was united in matrimony with longtime Susanville resident Frances Milligan - a union that lasted until her passing in July of 2004.
Frank found great enjoyment in square dancing and had been a member of the Lassen Center Wheelers Square Dancers for over 32 years. He enjoyed trying his luck in the casinos of the area as well as fishing and traveling. Frank is a longtime member of VFW Post 2381 of Susanville,  Calif. and the Retail Clerks Union of Northern California.
Frank leaves in passing his daughter Peggy Broady of Susanville;  Calif. sons and daughter in laws; Michael and Joyce Broady, of Chico, CA, Dan and Debbie Broady, of Marysville, CA and Nicholas and Janelle Quintana of Susanville,  Calif. sister; Iladel Young of Susanville;  Calif. grandchildren, Nick, Angelica and Mollie; his great grandchildren, Madison and Korina and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Frances and a brother, Paul, in 2004.
Frank is remembered by his family as a loving and caring provider who worked hard to ensure that they were provided for.
Cremation took place locally at Fehrman Crematory and will be followed by a private family celebration of his life. An opportunity to express your condolences to the family along with signing the memorial guest register is available online at fehrmanmortuary.com.

JACQUELINE DORRAINE VILLALOVOS
Westwood native, Jacqueline Dorraine Villalovos passed from this life to her eternal home with the Lord, the morning of Feb. 7, 2006 at her residence in Westwood,  Calif.
Born Jacqueline D. Snook on February 15, 1932 to the late Frances and Mabel Snook in Westwood, Calif, she has been a life-long resident of the Northeastern California community of Westwood.
Jackie, as she was affectionally known, attended Westwood Elementary School and is a 1949 graduate of Westwood High School. She remembered fondly her high school dating days and being a member of the drama club. Jackie went on to obtain her AA degree and became a licensed vocational nurse. She provided caring nursing to those homebound in the Westwood and Lake Almanor areas for many years.
Jackie was a devout Christian who worshiped at the Westwood Calvary Chapel. Some of her most fulfilling adult years were those she spent working with the church as a missionary in the Philippines.
Jackie leaves in passing her brother, Dale Snook of Westwood,  Calif. and Derrell Snook of Berthoud,  Colo., and sister; Leslie Glenn of Sacramento,  Calif. She is preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas (Nick) Villalovos, in 1979.
A celebration of Jackie's homegoing place at the graveside located in the Westwood Cemetery, 1:00 p.m. Sunday Feb. 12, 2006 with her dear pastor, Terry  Johnson officiating.
Jackie had asked that any remembrances in her memory be made to the Westwood Calvary Chapel Missionary Fund, c/o Fehrman Mortuary and Crematory, P.O. Box 803, Greenville, CA 95947.

LILLIE M. ROGERS
Lillie M. Rogers, 92, died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006, at Banner Lassen Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 26, 1913 in Liberty, Okla.
Rogers is survived by son David Breshears, of Wenatchee, Wash.; daughter Kay Stout, of Susanville; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services are pending.

WILLIAM HAROLD MEEK, JR.
William Harold Meek, Jr., 87, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006 at Seneca District Hospital. He was born Feb. 9, 1918.
Meek is survived by daughters Mary Meek, of Lake Almanor, and Kathleen Meek, of Santa Rosa; brother John Meek, of Woodland; and two grandsons.
Following cremation a celebration of his life will take place at the graveside in Chester District Cemetery later this spring.
The family asks that any remembrances be made to them to help defray final expenses c/o Mary Meek 1216  White Fir Trail Lake Almanor, CA 96137.

LENA CAPEZZOLI
Longtime Lassen County resident Lena Capezzoli, 103, passed away on Friday, Feb. 3 at Arbor Convalescent Home in Lodi,  Calif., where she had resided since 1997. She was born in Dewitt,  Calif. on Aug. 8, 1902.
She worked for the Lassen County Bank and later the Bank of America in Susanville for many years prior to retirement.
Survivors include nieces Joanne McClelland, of Lodi, and Janis Anderson, of Ellensburg, Wash.; three great nieces Debbie Habben, Mary Minor and Lori Fishburn; one great nephew Bobby McClelland; four great-great nephews and one great-great niece.
Graveside services will be held at Janesville Cemetery on Friday, Feb. 10 at 1:30 p.m. with Cal Godman officiating. Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home, of Lodi, is in charge of the services.
