Peter Michael Gurnari

(Nov. 23, 1939 - Jan. 6, 2000)

Peter Michael Gurnari, 60, died Thursday at North Bay Medical Center, Fairfield, from a sudden illness.

Mr. Gurnari was born in Oakland, but lived in Vallejo most of his life.

A former Vallejo (1964-1967) and San Francisco (1969-1975) police officer, Mr. Gurnari retired in 1975 due to a medical disability.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

Mr. Gurnari belonged to the Vallejo Lodge 559, B.P.O.E., and was a member of the San Francisco Police Officers Assn., the Retired and Disabled Police of America; Vallejo Police Activities League and the U.S. Golf Association.

He is survived by his wife, Sue; daughters Rhonda Marie Talley of Missouri, Karen M. Gurnari of Napa and Kimberley Forte of Vacaville; his father Peter D. Gurnari of Redding; a sister, Loreli Welch of Vallejo; a brother, Charles Hubbard of San Jose; and six grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wiggins-Knipp Funeral Home. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Wiggins-Knipp.

There will be a private inurnment.

Contributions preferred to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 844, Santa Rosa 95402.

Wiggins-Knipp is handling arrangements.

Leslie Driver

(June 1, 1934 - Feb. 4, 1999)

BENICIA - Leslie D. Driver, 64, died Thursday in a Napa convalescent hospital.

He was born in Canada, raised in Benicia and attended local schools. He moved from Benicia to San Leandro in 1960 and returned to the Vallejo/Benicia area in the 1980s.

Mr. Driver served in the U.S. Army from 1956-58 and from 1958-62 was a member of the California National Guard.

He worked at Mac's Liquor in Benicia for many years, and later owned and operated two bars and restaurants in Oakland in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Survivors include his two sons, Mark and Darren of San Leandro; his sister-in-law, Sue of Sacramento; a brother, Gene of Oregon; and his companion and friend, Donna Beard of Vallejo.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Gayle Harlan, and a brother, Dar Driver.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Passalacqua Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Al Marks officiating. Inurnment is private.

Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Bobby Laughridge

(Aug. 3, 1930 - Jan. 27, 1999)

ASTOR, Fla. - Bobby "Bob" Gerald Laughridge, 68, died Jan. 27 in a hospital in Florida after a short illness.

Born in Peabody, Kan., Mr. Laughridge lived in Vallejo for 45 years; 21 years in  West Virginia, and for two years in Florida. He was a self-employed contractor/builder for 35 years and retired in 1996. He worked at Mini Ranch in Vallejo for six years as a young man in his teens, and served during the Korean conflict as a master sergeant with the Army, 82nd Airborne.

Mr. Laughridge enjoyed training horses, racing horses and owned his own race horses. He also made saddles and bridles.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Janice of Astor, Fla.; a daughter, Debbie of Vallejo; a son, Bobby G. Jr. of Vallejo; his mother, Helen of Vallejo; a sister, Eyvonne Puebla of Vallejo; and four brothers, Jack L., William D., and Kenneth D., all of Laurel, Md., and Keith D. of Vallejo.

Services were not held and inurnment is private in Skyview Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Vallejo.Skyview Memorial Lawn Mortuary made arrangements.

Sarah Adams

(Sept. 16, 1905 - Feb. 5, 1999)

Sarah Jane Adams, 93, died Friday at Sutter Solano Medical Center following a long illness.

Mrs. Adams was born in Lettsworth, La., to the late Robert and Letha Anderson Boykins. She lived most of her life in Paducah, Ky., before relocating to California in 1990, first residing in Sacramento then moving to Vallejo the following year.

She was an active member of the Mothers Board at the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting and regularly participated at the Douglas Senior Center on Wednesdays with the craft clubs.

Survivors include her son, Randolph D. (Barbara) of Vallejo; four grandsons, Malcolm, Anthony, David and Andre; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Cooley & Riolo Mortuary, with the Rev. Joseph K. Flowers officiating. Burial will be in the Maplelawn Cemetery in Paducah, Ky.

Jasmin Recinto

(March 4, 1998-Feb. 5, 1999)

Jasmin Michelle Aguilar Recinto died Friday in a Vallejo hospital after a brief illness. She was 11 months old.

Born in Vallejo, Ms. Recinto was a member of St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church.

She is survived by her parents, Jose and Imelda of Vallejo; brothers Jordan and Jason of Vallejo; and grandparents, Ireneo and Marietta Recinto, of the Philippines, and Alejandro and Lydia Luzano, of Vallejo.

Arrangements are under the direction of Colonial Chapels.

Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at All Souls Catholic Cemetery. A rosary will be recited 8 p.m. Friday at Colonial Chapels. Visitation will be held Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Ms. Recinto will be buried at All Souls Catholic Cemetery.
