Wilma Anderson

Jan. 1, 1922 -- Aug. 30, 2002

Wilma M. Anderson, 80, died Aug. 30 in Pleasant Grove, Utah.

Mrs. Anderson was a Vallejo resident for over 40 years, moving to Utah in 2001.

She retired from the Naval Weapons Station, Port Chicago, after more than 25 years of government service after which she enjoyed an active retirement.

Mrs. Anderson was an avid collector of miniatures and belonged to several related organizations.

She loved to travel with her late husband as members of the Goodtime Rollers Motorhome Club.

Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Anderson.

Survivors include her daughter, Caroline (Devane)  Taylor of Vallejo; son, Kenneth (Diane) Green of Los Angeles; brother, Kenneth (Roberta) Mack of Los Angeles; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

Cremation was in Utah.

Willa Thomas

Jan. 28, 1899 -- Feb. 14, 2003

Willa Mae Thomas, 104, died Feb. 14 at High Street Convalescent Hospital in Oakland after a brief illness.

She was born in Houston,  Texas, and was an Oakland resident.

Mrs. Thomas was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Oakland.

She enjoyed arts and crafts, sewing and cooking.

Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Thomas.

She is survived by her granddaughter, Vanessa Hunt of Vallejo; grandson, Fredrick Hunt of Oakland; five great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Private inurnment.

Arrangement made Wiggins-Knipp Funeral Home, Vallejo.

Lora Minor

Feb. 9, 1962 -- May 19, 2003

Lora Denise Minor, 41, died at home in Sacramento after a long illness.

Ms. Minor, also known as "Yogi," was born in Athens,  Texas and was a Sacramento resident.

Ms. Minor worked for Safeway Corporation for 17 years.

She is a graduate of Hogan Senior High School and Brooks College.

She was a former member of St. Mark Baptist Church.

Ms. Minor like camping, running and traveling.

Survivors include her daughter, Tiana; parents, Freddie and Virginia; grandparent, Anester Larkin; sister, Shirley Stewart of Sacramento; brothers, Bill Bowman of Vallejo; Mack Bowman of Vallejo; Don Williams of Sacramento; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. May 30 at Discovery Church in Sacramento with Pastor Pearing officiating. Inurnment will follow.

Laurene Butler

(Aug. 5, 1914 - April 8, 2001)

Laurene M. Butler, 86, of Vallejo, died Sunday at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center following a long illness.

A native of Virginia City, Nev., Mrs. Butler moved with her family to Napa in 1924. She completed high school in Napa and lived there until she married. She and her husband then moved to Vallejo and lived there for more than 70 years. Mrs. Butler was a member of the Vallejo Women's Club and the Vallejo Rose Society.

She was preceded in death by daughter, Nadine Judith; and her husband, Nelson L.

Survivors include daughter, Nona (Bud) Galambos; grandchildren, Lori (Steve) Glenn, Lynda Galambos, Nelson (Tina) Galambos, and Nate (Christy) Galambos; and seven great-grandchildren.

At her request, private family services will be held at a later date. Inurnment in Skyview Memorial Lawn, Vallejo. Arrangements by Twin Chapels Mortuary, Vallejo.

Contributions preferred to Kaiser Hospice Program, 975 Sereno Dr., Vallejo CA 94589.

Mae Richard

Nov. 5, 1931 -- May 11, 2002

Mae E. Richard, 70, died Saturday at  Louisiana Living Center in Vallejo, after a long illness.

Mrs. Richard was born in Arkansas and was a Vallejo resident.

She worked for Fannie Graham's Live-In Care as a nurses assistant for three years.

She was a member of Second Baptist Church, and enjoyed playing card games, dominos and checkers.

She is survived by her husband, Jessie of Vallejo; parent, Raylin Akins of Arkansas; and sister, Jessie Williams of Arkansas.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m., May 18 at Cooley and Riolo Mortuary in Vallejo. Burial at Skyview Memorial Lawn in Vallejo.

Mary Fritts

Nov. 17, 1912 -- Sept. 21, 2002

Mary Mabel Fritts, 89, died Saturday after a long illness at Sunbridge Care Center in Carmichael.

Mrs. Fritts was born in Los Angeles, and was a Carmichael resident two years before her death. She also lived in Roseville for seven years and was a Fairfield resident for 40 years.

She worked at Mare Island Naval Shipyard for four years. She also worked for the Suisun Fairfield Unified School District, as a cook and cafeteria assistant at Armijo High School for 10 years.

Mrs. Fritts was a very active member of the Lighthouse Christian Center in Fairfield. She volunteered for the Fairfield Food Closet for many years.

She enjoyed crocheting.

Mrs. Fritts was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn in 1985.

Her survivors include her daughter, Jacqueline Boucher of Sunnyvale; son, Eugene (Wanda) of Roseville; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 3 p.m., Sept. 28 at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, 1850 West  Texas St. in Fairfield. Her granddaughter, Debbie Fritts will be officiating. Private inurnment at Fairmont Memorial Park, Fairfield.

Memorial contributions in her honor may be made to the American Canter Society, 1652 West  Texas St. Suite 110, Fairfield,  Calif. 94533.
