Helen Schwichtenberg

July 1, 1922 -- May 22, 2002

Helen Amelia Schwichtenberg, 79, died Wednesday at a convalescent hospital in Vallejo after a long illness.

Born in Plainfield, Ill., she had been a resident of Vallejo since 1958.

Mrs. Schwichtenberg was a graduate of Beauty College in Aurora, Ill. She worked in San Francisco and Hawaii where her husband was stationed in the U.S. Navy Submarine Force. Upon his retirement, she worked as a full time partner establishing and operating the Vallejo Frame and Art store.

She was a member of Republican Women Federated; Vallejo Naval & Historical Museum; Catholic Daughters Court No. 818; Submarine Veterans of World War II Women's Auxiliary; and a volunteer of Mare Island Historical Park Foundation.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Delmar of Vallejo; sister, Regina of Aurora, Ill. and five nephews.

Visitation will be 1 to 9 p.m., May 23 and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. May 24 at Colonial Chapels in Vallejo. Vigil services will be held 7:30 p.m., May 24 at Colonial Chapels. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered 11 a.m., May 25 at St. Peters Chapel on Mare Island. Entombment in All Souls Catholic Cemetery, Vallejo.

William Clemens

Sept. 9, 1917 -- Feb. 13, 2003

William "Ronnie" R. Clemens, 85, died Feb. 13 at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center - Vallejo after a long illness.

Born in Promise, Ore., he had been a Vallejo resident 58 years and a Fairfield resident for two years.

Mr. Clemens worked for Mare Island Naval Shipyard as a pipefitter from 1943 to 1945. He then went to work for General Mills and retired in 1982 after 38 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army between 1942 and 1943 when he moved to Vallejo.

He was a member of the Vallejo Elks Lodge No. 559, BPOE and American Legion Post 104.

Mr. Clemens enjoyed traveling.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Hattie Short and by his brother, Ed.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mella of Fairfield; daughter, Linda (Clifford) Neal of Vacaville; sisters, Frances Bellamy of Portland, Ore.; grandchildren, Brian Neal of Livermore; Michael Neal of Redding, one great-great-grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Feb. 16 at Skyview Funeral Chapel, Vallejo. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Feb. 18 at Skyview Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Warren Dale of Wayside Methodist Church presiding. Burial in Skyview Memorial Lawn.

Contributions preferred to the National Kidney Foundation of Northern  Calif., Inc., 553 Pilgram Dr., Ste. C, Foster City,  Calif. 94404; or to the donor's favorite charity.

Lewis Gould

Dec. 11, 1951 -- May 20, 2003

Lewis C. Gould Jr., 51, died May 20 after a long illness.

He was born in Vallejo and was an Alameda resident.

Mr. Gould was a truck driver who at one point served in the U.S. Army.

He enjoyed painting.

Survivors include his mother, Eleanor of Sacramento; hissister, Sondra Herrin of Vallejo and hisbrother, Vernon Hansen of Sacramento.

A memorial will be at 2 p.m. on June 7 at Silver Crest Retirement Community, 4630 Appian Way, El Sobrante. Private inurnment.

Arrangements made by Wiggins-Knipp Funeral Home, Vallejo.

Ascencion Simental

(June 8, 1947 - April 7, 2001)

Ascencion "Ace" Simental, 53, died at a hospital Saturday following a brief illness.

Born in Madera, he worked as a landscaper for 10 years. He was a member of Victory Outreach.

Mr. Simental was preceded in death by his wife, Vera and his mother, Phyllis.

Survivors include daughters, Phyllis Lane, Theresa, Shanie'e Jones; sons, Chino, Alex and Adam; father, Ascencion; sisters, Susan Caballero, Christina Carrillo and Lorraine; brother, Mike and eight grandchildren.

There will be a memorial service held in Madera.

Contributions may be made to Victory Outreach in Vallejo.

George Young

March 23, 1950 -- Dec. 1, 2002

George Franklin Young, 52, died at home Dec. 1 after a brief illness.

Mr. Young was born in Terre Haute, Ind., and had lived in Vallejo for 38 years. He graduated from Vallejo High School in 1968.

He worked for Unico Company as a supervisor machinist mechanic for 20 years, retiring this past March.

A member of Ducks Unlimited, Mr. Young enjoyed hunting and fishing, NASCAR races, sports and building and riding motorcycles.

Mr. Young was preceded in death by his father, Joseph and brothers, Joseph and Gary.

Survivors include his daughter, Shannon of Rescue; son, Russ of Santa Rosa; mother, Leona of Vallejo; sisters, Alice Wheeler of Richmond; Mary Muse of Walnut Creek; Sharon Poirier of Vacaville; brothers, Ralph of Tasmania; Dave of Wyoming and one grandchild, Rory Leal.

A memorial will be held 11 a.m., Dec. 7 at First Presbyterian Church in Vallejo, with Pastor Hampton Deck officiating. Private inurnment.

Contributions preferred to Alcoholics Anonymous in American Canyon.

Elizabeth Carrejo

August 1, 1952 -- Feb. 13, 2003

Elizabeth Maye Carrejo, 50, died on Feb. 13 in a local hospital after a long illness.

Mrs. Carrejo, also known as "Beth", was born in Delano and was a Vallejo resident for 20 years.

Mrs. Carrejo was a homemaker.

Her survivors include her husband, Joel of Vallejo; daughters Ashley Groves; and Amber, both of Vallejo; sister, Judy Tinsley of Florida; brother, Ronald Brock of  Oklahoma; and her grandchildren, Aaliyah Gilmer; Emanuel Groves; and Giovanni Groves.

Private family services were held. Inurnment also private at Skyview Memorial Lawn.

Arrangements made under the direction of Colonial Chapels.

Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Kaiser Hospice, 975 Sereno Drive, Vallejo, CA 94589.
