Helen Pettigrew
Feb. 8, 1920 -- Jan. 29, 2003
Helen E. Pettigrew, 82, died Jan. 29 in a local hospital after a long illness.
She was born in Philadelphia, and had been a resident of Benicia since 1954.
During World War II she worked as a welder at Long Beach Shipyards. She was a waitress for many years beginning at Terry's Waffle Shop in Vallejo and later for more than 18 years at Jonsey's Steak House at the Napa Airport. She retired in 1980.
She enjoyed crossword puzzles and was an avid Giants and 49ers fan.
She was the last of seven children and is survived by her daughter, Dorothy (Bill) Patchell of Benicia; sons, Louis (Gale) DiAngelo, William (Sue) DiAngelo and Gary (Susan) all of Benicia; 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Recitation of the rosary will be at 7 p.m. Feb. 2, with funeral services at 1 p.m. Feb. 3 at Passalacqua Funeral Chapel in Benicia. Burial will follow in St. Dominic's Cemetery, Benicia. Visitation will be held after 1 p.m. Feb. 2 at the mortuary.

Della Moore
Dec. 30, 1907 -- May 26, 2003
Della L. Moore, 95, of Auburn, who lived in the Benicia-Vallejo area from 1942 to 1995, died May 26 after a long illness.
Mrs. Moore worked for the post office at Mare Island Naval Shipyard for many years during World War II and later as a clerk at several grocery stores in the Vallejo area for more than 40 years.
Mrs. Moore was a member of First Baptist Church of Benicia.
She was an avid plate collector and loved crocheting.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harlen Moore, in 1965 and by her grandson, Richard Moore, last month.
Survivors include her son, Harlan (Pam) of Auburn; daughter, Susan (Jim) Teller of Sun City, Ariz.; sister, Juanice Cox of New Mexico; and four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from noon to 4 p.m. May 29 at Passalacqua Funeral Chapel, 901 West Second St., Benicia.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. May 30 at First Baptist Church, 1055 Southampton Road in Benicia, with Pastor Scott Henning officiating. Burial will follow in Skyview Memorial Lawn, Vallejo.
Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund.
Theodore Wright Jr.
(May 20, 1935 - April 9, 2001)
Theodore Roosevelt Wright Jr., 65, died Monday at Travis A.F.B. following a brief illness.
Mr. Wright was born in Hahira, Ga. and was a resident of the Suisun City and Vallejo areas for a total of 24 years. After 10 years Mr. Wright retired from the Vallejo Unified School District, and he also served in the Air Force for 20 years.
He was preceded in death by parents, Theodore Roosevelt Sr. and Julia Wright.
Survivors include wife, Christine of Suisun City; daughter, Michele C. Davis of Atlanta, Ga.; sons, Reginald R. and Eric M. of Sacramento and Carlos R. of Fairfield; sister, Annie C. Crawford of Atlanta, Ga. and Marion Matchett of Valdosta, Ga.; brothers, Tonnie L. of Miami, Fla., Edward of Adel, Ga., and Joey of Hahira, Ga.; and eight grandchildren.
Visitation from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday at Old Path COGIC, Vallejo. Funeral at 1 p.m. Monday at Old Path COGIC, with Superintendent Harold Johnson Sr. officiating. Burial in Suisun Fairfield Cemetery.
Kathleen Herbert
(June 2, 1916 - May 30, 2001)
Kathleen E. Herbert, 84, died Wednesday at North Bay Medical Center-Fairfield following a long illness.
Mrs. Herbert was born in Carroll, Iowa, and was a Suisun Valley resident for 54 years and a prior Vallejo resident from 1947-1957. She was an elementary school teacher with the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District for 25 years and retired in 1977. Mrs. Herbert was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Intl. Society of Women Educators, Valley Ladies Investment Club, and Green Valley Country Club. She enjoyed being a mother and grandmother and entertaining family and friends.
She was preceded in death by husband, Wm. H. Sr. in 1990; daughter, Susan Paulsen in 2001; and sister, Nancy McInnis in 1984.
Survivors include daughter, Katy Mangels (Gary) of Suisun Valley; sons, William H. Jr. (Daun) of Fairfield and Jerry of Suisun Valley; sisters, Joan Antolini of Fairfield and Peggy Miller of San Francisco; and a son-in-law.
Visitation, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a vigil service at 7 p.m., both Sunday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, 1850 W. Texas St., Fairfield. Mass, 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Fairfield, with the Rev. Michael Downey officiating. Private burial in St. Vincent's Catholic Cemetery, Vallejo.

Marie Conyers
(Jan. 2, 1925 - Aug. 6, 2001)
Marie Gloria Villaneuva Conyers, 76, died Monday at home following a long illness.
Ms. Conyers was born in Vallejo and was a Vallejo resident. She was employed for 20 years as an Inertia Division Technician at Systron/Donner in Concord, and retired in 1990. Ms. Conyers was a member of Hilltop Community Church in Richmond and Senior Deaf Club of California.
Survivors include daughters, Gloria (Jim) Camba of San Diego, Candy (Ron) Roeker of Vallejo, Sherry (Chris) Kempton of Vallejo, and Joann (Ken) Wible of Benicia; son, Glenn (Cynthia) of American Canyon; brothers, John Edward Villaneuva of Florida and Ernie Villaneuva of Napa; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Visitation from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Colonial Chapels, Vallejo. Service at 10 a.m. Saturday at Colonial Chapels, with Pastor Jim Hedden of Hilltop Community Church of Richmond officiating. Private inurnment.
Granville Rhoden
(Jan. 1, 1922 -- Feb. 12, 2002)
Granville Elton Rhoden, 80, died Tuesday at a local hospital after a long illness.
Born in Boonville, Ark., he had been a Vallejo resident for the past two years.
Mr. Rhoden worked as a line assemblyman for Ford Motor Corporation in Milpitas for 33 years, retiring in 1976.
He was a U.S. Army veteran during World War II.
He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Mr. Rhoden is survived by his daughter, Vickie (Ben) Howell of Hawaii; son, William of Vallejo; grandchildren, Amber Howell, Jerimiah, William Jr. and three great-grandchildren.
Private family services were held, private inurnment.
