Gerald Naguit

(Oct. 3, 1914 -- Dec. 8, 2001)

Gerald Valerio Naguit, 87, died Saturday at a local hospital after a short illness.

Mr. Naguit was born in the Philippines, and was a Vallejo resident for two years. He was a public relations specialist for the sugar refineries in the Philippines for 20 years before retiring. Mr. Naguit served in the U.S. Army as a tech. sergeant during World War II, and was a member of St. Basil's Catholic Church. He enjoyed bowling.

Survivors are spouse, Marina of Vallejo; daughters, Leticia (Angel) Paz of Vallejo, Zenaida of Suisun, Rosa (Allen) Ready of San Francisco, and Felicitas of Hercules; sons, Bart (Blesilda) of Suisun, and Ron of  Washington; sister, Fortuna Maloles of the Philippines; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Vistation from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with vigil service at 7:30 p.m., both today at Colonial Chapels, Vallejo. Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Basil's Catholic Church. Private inurnment.

Glenn Whaley

March 30, 1965 -- March 30, 2002

Glenn Alan Whaley, 37, died Saturday at home due to complications of a softball injury.

He was born in Fairfield and lived in Vallejo 35 years.

He was a self-employed painter for five years.

Mr. Whaley was an active member of Castlewood Baptist Church, enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife Peggy of Vallejo; daughter Ashley; sons Christopher and Noah; his mother Darlene Akers of  Washington and father Paul Whaley of Vallejo; sisters Paula Pugh of Sacramento, Vicky Bonnett of Ureka and Wendy Frank of  Washington and brothers Paul Gene of Germany, James Whaley of Vallejo, Scott Duhon and Ronald Duhon, both of  Washington.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Castlewood Baptist Church, 3615 Georgia St., Vallejo with the Rev. Jason Paris Epps presiding. Burial will follow at Sunrise Memorial Cemetery, Vallejo.

Arrangements made by Skyview Memorial Lawn, Vallejo.

In lieu of flowers contributions preferred to the Whaley Memorial Fund, 3615 Georgia St., Vallejo, CA 94591.

Maria Natale

March 21, 1915 -- Sept. 23, 2002

Maria Hilda Natale, 87, died Sept. 23 at Springs Road Living Center.

Mrs. Natale was born in Nicaragua and was a Vallejo resident.

She worked 10 years as a clerk typist for the city and county of San Francisco.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilberto and Francisca Lacayo; and her brother, Gilberto Lacayo.

Mrs. Natale is survived by her husband of 46 years, John; her brother, Oscar Lacayo; and other relatives and friends in the Bay Area and Nicaragua.

Visitation will be 11 a.m., Sept. 26 at Hogan, Sullivan & Bianco Chapel of the Sunset Funeral Home, 1266 9th Ave. Irving and Lincoln, in San Francisco. Visitation will be followed by a funeral Mass at 1 p.m., at St. Anne's Church on Funston and Judah, San Francisco. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma.

Trinidad Gittleman

Nov. 23, 2002

Trinidad Mesa San Nicolas-Gittleman, 31, died Nov. 23 at Desert Springs Hospital in Las Vegas.

Mrs. San Nicolas-Gittleman, also know as "Trinie," was a resident of Las Vegas and a prior resident of Vallejo.

Survivors include her husband, Chad and her children, Victor Rubio, Jr., Steven Tedding, Jr. and Alani Gittleman; parents, Francis and Julia Osgood; siblings, Frank and Doris Manglona, Linda San Nicolas-Handy, Marie San Nicolas-Midkiff, Tricia Osgood-Magtanong, Allen San Nicolas, Brian Osgood, John San Nicolas and her nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Nov. 27 in Las Vegas.

George Valentine-Black

Jan. 13, 1942 -- Jan. 27, 2003

George Valentine-Black, 61, died Jan. 27at the V.A. Medical Center in San Francisco after a long illness.

Mr. Valentine-Black, also known as "Chicken George," was born in San Francisco and lived in Vallejo on and off for 14 years.

He worked various jobs before enlisting in the military in 1966. He spent several years as an Oakland resident and became a member of the Berkeley Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where he served on the Usher Board.

He was an avid sports fan, baseball being his favorite; he was a devoted San Francisco 49er fan. Mr. Valentine-Black loved fishing, dominoes and most of all music. His sharp wit and wicked sense of humor will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George, Sr. and Cora; his younger brother, James and great-granddaughter, Breean Raven.

Mr. Valentine-Black is survived by his wife, Irma Black of San Francisco; son, Gregory of Fairfield; daughter, Cassandra of San Francisco; brother, James Valentine of New Orleans, La.; sisters, Doris  Taylor of Oakland; Patricia Alsobrook and Stephanie Sanders both of Vallejo; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends and a devoted companion, Arna Hines of Oakland.

A viewing will be held 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., with a quiet hour at 5 p.m. Feb. 2 at Duggan Welch Family Funeral Home, 3434 17th St., San Francisco. Services will be held 11 a.m., Feb. 3 at Berkeley Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 1400 8th St. in Berkeley.

Francis Raffetto

(May 18, 1907 - Oct. 11, 2000)

Francis "Dutch" O. Raffetto, 93, of Vallejo, died Oct. 11, 2000 following a long illness.

A native of Placerville, he was a former resident of Carson City, Nev. for more than 20 years, and was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include stepsons, Ronald E. and Wayne A.

At his request, private family graveside services were held at Placerville Union Cemetery, Placerville. Arrangements by Twin Chapels Mortuary, Vallejo.

Betty Childress

(May 3, 1924 -June 11, 2001)

Betty M. Childress, 77, of Benicia, died Monday in a Vallejo hospital after a short illness.

She was born in Racine, Wis., and moved to Benicia with her husband in the late 70s. Mrs. Childress worked as a concierge at Captain Dillingham's and the Union Hotel. She was a member of the Benicia Yacht Club and the New Harbor Church, and was active with the members and at social events at Rancho Benicia Mobile Home Park.

She was preceded in death by husband, James in 1985.

Survivors include children, Trudie (James) DeVille of Colorado Springs and Teddy  White of Vallejo; grandchildren, Marcus DeVille of Mountain View and Mathew DeVille of Hermosa Beach; and her companion for the past 15 years, Sam French of Benicia.

Memorial, noon on Saturday at Passalacqua Funeral Chapel, Benicia, with Pastor Kelly Patchin of New Harbor Church officiating. Inurnment in Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno.
