Rose Dunham

(March 25, 1910 - March 25, 2001)

Rose Lucile Dunham, 91, of Benicia, died March 25 at her home after a brief illness.

She was born in Idaho and worked as a budget officer for the U.S. Government for more than 30 years, before retiring and moving to Benicia 11 years ago. Her job took her to all parts of the world, including Korea and Guam. She was a graduate of U.C. Berkeley, a member of the Business and Professional Womens International, American Association of University Women, and the Benicia Chamber of Commerce.

Survivors include niece, Elizabeth of El Cerrito; nephews, Alan (Roberta) of Novato and Glenn of El Cerrito; great-nieces, Annette Briggs, Pamela Boyd, Donna Moss, and Gwen; and great-nephew, Craig.

Celebration of life, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Case de Vilarassa, Benicia. Inurnment in Riverside Cemetery, Heyburn, Idaho. Arrangements by Passalacqua Funeral Chapel, Benicia.

Donations preferred to a favorite charity.

Kathryn Fildes

(Aug. 29, 1913 -June 12, 2001)

Kathryn L. Fildes, 87, died Tuesday at her home in Benicia following a long illness.

A native of East Rochester, N.Y., Mrs. Fildes lived in Benicia since 1993. She worked as a registered nurse for more than 50 years, retiring as the head nurse of the Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit at Millard-Filmore Hospital in Buffalo, N.Y.

Survivors include daughters, Mary Anne (Thomas) Branch of Benicia, Lucille Seth of Buffalo, N.Y., and Patricia Donohue of Napa; sister, Nina Homen-Bauer of Ontario, N.Y.; grandchildren, Barbara Fildes Quinton, John, and Gregory; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorial, 2 p.m. Tuesday at Passalacqua Funeral Chapel, Benicia, with Hospice Chaplain Gerald  Jones officiating. Private inurnment at Oakwood Cemetery Association, Penfield, N.Y.

Contributions preferred to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.

Jack Fong

(Oct. 10, 1918 - Aug. 6, 2001)

Jack Ying Fong, 82, of Vallejo, died Monday at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center-Vallejo following a brief illness.

A native of Canton, China, Mr. Fong was a resident of Vallejo for over 50 years. He was employed at Mare Island Naval Shipyard for 20 years and retired in 1980. Mr. Fong enjoyed spending time with his friends at one of the local health clubs.

Survivors include wife, How Yuen of Vallejo; daughter, Corliss of El Cerrito; sons, Norris of Vallejo, Don of Santa Cruz, and Chong Kwong of Florida; two grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral at 11 a.m. Saturday at Twin Chapels Mortuary, Vallejo, with the Rev. David Lee officiating. Burial follows in Hoy Sun Memorial Cemetery, Colma.

Johnnie Teske

(Nov. 8, 1900 -- Feb. 27, 2002)

Johnnie Jewell Teske, 101, died Wednesday at Sunbridge Care Center in Fairfield, after a long illness.

Mrs. Teske was born in  Texas, and had been a Vallejo resident since 1952. She was a homemaker, and a member of Mare Island Navy Yard Unit 550, American Legion Auxiliary.

Her husband, Martin preceded her in death Feb. 20, 1991.

Mrs. Teske is survived by her nieces, Wanda Logan of  Oklahoma; and Jean Pfiefer of Montana.

Private family services were held. Private inurnment at Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno.

Arrangements made by Colonial Chapels, Vallejo.

Barbara Morrow

Feb. 15, 1944 -- Oct. 3, 2002

Barbara "Barb" K. Morrow, 58, died Oct. 3 at Sunbridge Care Center after a long illness.

A native of Hollister, Mo., she was a Vallejo resident.

Mrs. Morrow spent one year working as an administrative assistant for the Red Cross.

She enjoyed quilting, playing the saxophone and clarinet, writing and arts and crafts.

She was preceded in death by her father, Luther and her son, Christopher Fletcher.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Fletcher of Sacramento; daughter, Angela (Barry) Wilson of Dacula, Ga.; sons, Troy Fletcher of Vallejo and Joe Rodriguez of Sacramento; parent, Dewy Wallace of Hutchinson, Kan.; sisters, Shirley Barker and Bonnie Steen both of Sacramento; brother, Larry  Taylor of Hutchinson, Kan.; grandchildren, Rochelle, Ryan and Leah Wilson and Chris Rodriguez.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 4 at Wiggins-Knipp Funeral Home, Vallejo with the Rev. Robert Tharlasen of First Baptist Church of North Sacramento presiding. Private inurnment.

Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1652 West  Texas St., Suit 110, Fairfield,  Calif. 94533.

Jerry Cummins

(Dec. 14, 1940 - April 20, 2001)

Jerry Lee Cummins, 60, died Friday at a local hospital following a long illness.

Mr. Cummins was born in Missouri and was a Vallejo resident since 1976. He worked as a chief estimator for Southwest Marine in San Francisco for 22 years and retired in 1996. Prior to working for Southwest Marines, he served for 21 years in the Navy and retired and an E8- Senior Chief Petty Officer. Mr. Cummins was a Navy veteran who served during Vietnam, and was a member of St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Lydia of Vallejo; sons, Alan, Arnel (Lena), and Edwin, all of Vallejo; and 10 grandchildren.

Memorial mass, 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, Vallejo. Private inurnment. Arrangements by Colonial Chapels, Vallejo.

Julie Hicks

(Sept. 9, 1959 - June 9, 2001)

Julie Lynn Hicks, 41, died Friday at home following a brief illness.

Ms. Hicks was born in Palo Alto and was a Suisun resident. She was employed for three years at Vineburg Machining Inc.

Survivors include husband, Robert; son, Merrell Thomas Fetters; stepson, Pierre; parents, James and Barbara Morgan; sister, Cheryl Johnson; and grandchild, Riley Fetters.

Memorial, 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mark Missionary Church, with the Rev. Herbert Bell officiating. Burial in Sunrise Cemetery. Arrangements by Manigault Mortuary, Vallejo.
