Elisha "Tate" Pruitt Jr.

June 25, 1929 - Nov. 20, 2003

Elisha "Tate" Pruitt Jr., 74, of Benicia, passed away Thursday at his home after a short illness. He was born in Marshall,  Texas and lived in Benicia since 1955.

He was a veteran of the Korean War as a member of the United States Army from 1950 to 1952. Elisha worked as a metal inspector at Mare Island Naval Shipyard for more than 32 years, before retiring in 1985.

He was a member of King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church, was a former coach of Benicia Little League Baseball and enjoyed all sports. One of his favorite hobbies was playing dominoes.

He is survived by his wife, Mary of Benicia; daughters, Deborah (Early) Foster of Sacramento and Marilyn Pruitt of Vallejo; sons, Donald of Healdsburg; Dennis of San Francisco; Elisha III of Benicia; David of Vallejo; Gregory of Benicia; Richard of Benicia; Andrew of Vallejo; Timothy of Suisun City and Ocie of Benicia; grandson, Leonzo of Brentwood and 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church in Benicia with Pastor Willie Floyd officiating. Burial will follow at Skyview Memorial Lawn, Vallejo. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Passalacqua Funeral Chapel in Benicia with a quiet hour from 7 to 8 p.m.

Kevin Wayne Hicks

Aug. 15, 1952 - Dec. 1, 2003

Kevin "New York" Wayne Hicks, 51, died at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek after a brief illness. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and was a Vallejo resident.

Survivors include his daughters, Kimiya and Charmane Hicks; son, Marcus Hicks; his mother, Beatrice Maxwell; sister, Sheba Hicks; six grandchildren; niece, LaToya Hicks and nephew, Robert Lucas III.

There will be a private inurnment.

Arrangements made by Skyview Memorial Lawn, Vallejo.

Thomas C. Haugh

April 22, 1917 - Dec. 1, 2003

Thomas "Tommy" C. Haugh passed away peacefully on Dec. 1 at the age of 86. He was born in Vallejo and resided in Crockett with his loving wife of 62 years, Helen (McCarthy) Haugh. He worked for over 30 years for Contra Costa County as a Heavy Equipment Operator and was also a Sheriff's reservist.

In addition to his wife, Tommy is survived by his daughter, Bonnie Pallotta and sons, Dennis and Kevin Haugh. Tommy was known as "Split the Nickel" to many of his friends and as "Papa" to his six grandchildren: Brian Davis, Kelly Muhr, Shannon, Daniel, Darren and Kristina Haugh; he was also a great-grandfather to Katie and Shane Muhr.

Tommy was a devout member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. He served as an usher and Eucharistic minister and participated in many church activities throughout the years. He was also a member of many organizations including the Italian Catholic Federation, Native Sons, Virtus, Elks, Moose and Ten Mens' Club. For many years, Tommy and Helen enjoyed trailering vacations, especially trips to Plymouth,  Calif..

A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 5 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 555 Third Ave., Crockett. In lieu of flowers the family request donations to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.

Ivan Marcum

Oct. 20, 1919 - Nov. 30, 2003

Ivan C. Marcum, 84, died Sunday at Sutter Solano Medical Center in Vallejo. He lived in Vallejo for 40 years.

Private services will be held under the direction of Colonial Chapels in Vallejo.

Edward Roy Cicle

April 25, 1916 - Nov. 13, 2003

Edward Roy Cicle, 87, died at Kaiser Hospital on Nov. 13, 2003, following a short illness.

Flora Tiernan

Nov. 30, 2003 - April 29, 1929

Flora Tiernan, 74, passed away at her home in Napa on Nov. 30, 2003. She was born in Ava, Missouri, on April 29, 1929, to Henry and Coy Willis.

She moved to Napa from Missouri in 1976. She worked as a waitress at Redwood Inn in Vallejo for 12 years, then she retired. She liked to play golf at the Veterans Home Golf Course.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond of Napa; one son, Farris Thompson of Sacramento; and one daughter, Donna Hepting of Independence, Mo. She is also survived by her three sisters, Hester Willis of Springfield, Mo., Wilma Rogers of Sparta, Mo., and Thelma Adams of Pocatella, Idaho. Three grandchildren, Shannon, Erica and Karyl, and two great-grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by a son, Jerrel Lee Thompson, and a brother, Earl Willis.

The funeral service will be at the Claffey and Rota Funeral Home on Thursday, Dec. 4, at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Vincent's Cemetery in Vallejo. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from noon until 8 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association of the North Coast, 631 Howard St., No. 520, San Francisco, CA 94105.

John H. King

Jan. 19, 1935 - Nov. 30, 2003

John H. King, 68, died Sunday at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, Vallejo, after a long illness. Born in Belton, Miss., Mr. King was a Vallejo resident.

Barbara Delores Miller

Dec. 13, 1923 - Nov. 30, 2003

Barbara Delores Miller, 79, died Sunday, Nov. 30th, following a brief illness.

Barbara was born in Los Angeles, California, Dec. 13, 1923. Her parents, Rolland Atwood and Florence Juarez Atwood, moved to Vallejo, where he worked as a pattern maker and she was a clerk-typist at Mare Island Naval Shipyard.

Barbara attended Vallejo schools and graduated in January 1942 from Vallejo Senior High School. She was a Rainbow girl and trumpet player in the Vallejo High School Band, playing at the 1939 Worlds Fair on Treasure Island, San Francisco. She was a clerk-typist at the Apprentice School at Mare Island Naval Shipyard for 35 years, retiring in 1989. Barbara was president of Parents Without Partners Group of Vallejo in the 1960s where she met her husband of 31 years, Del Miller.

She was a member of National Association of Retired Federal Employees and enjoyed her high school reunions and alumni days.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Del Miller; her two daughters, Donna Clark of Redwood City and Boni Collins of Vacaville; her two sisters, Dorris Lubkeman of Vallejo and Patricia McDell of Napa; grandchildren, Andrew AK, Timothy, Jessica, Jennifer and Shelley (deceased) Dexter; a great-granddaughter, Alexia; as well as many nieces and nephews and cousins.

Barbara enjoyed family get-togethers and will be missed.

Services will be at noon Saturday, Dec. 6, at Bible Baptist Church, 900 Benicia Road, Vallejo. Interment will be at Tulocay Cemetery in Napa from land that was granted to Napa by her great-great-great-grandfather, Cayetano B. Juarez. Contributions may be made to the National Diabetes Association.

Jeanne D. Simmons

Dec. 24, 1933 - Dec. 1, 2003

Jeanne D. Simmons, 69, died Monday at Lone Tree Convalescent Hospital in Antioch. Born in Elkins, W. Virginia, she lived in Vallejo for 30 years before moving to Antioch, where she lived for the past 14 years.

Ms. Simmons is survived by her sisters, Mary and Bobbi, and her children, Rhonda, Melody, Becky, Billy, Susie, Rose and Bobby, as well as numerous grand and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. with a rosary afterward at 7 p.m. Thursday at Skyview Garden Chapel, Vallejo. A Catholic prayer service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Skyview Garden Chapel.
